CCA BTX Bluetooth Module - Solid AptX Sound Quality with Proper Fit

  • After my first Bluetooth module incident, I was hoping the BTX would be a better experience. For these modules to work well, you need a combination of quality codec, amps in the modules that sound good, and a secure fit. I think BTX has all the pieces, just needed to work on the fit for my ears.
    Many thanks to KZ for sending the CCA BTX to me for review.

    Please do a seperate review video for KZ EDS and do compare them with other similarly priced contenders. Thanks for this video 👍

      I know, just haven't had time. They are my guilty pleasure set and don't stray too far from my desk. Ultimately the problem is the signature looks like a few other KZ models, so its nothing special but I like the classic KZ sound. If you have edx or edx pro, probably not worth buying EDS except for the look.

So pls try to put a 2/3min crisp review if possible. That might help lot of budget focused audience like me who follows your channel 😉

    Thanks for this video as I have just got the KZ AZ09 Pro and was good to see the difference between them. The AZ09 Pro have AptX Adaptive which was a pleasant surprise and strange this only has AptX. The Pro seem to be the better buy and have more battery life as well. One more thing and the noise floor is very low on the AZ09 Pro. That's my two cents so far :)

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  2 года назад +1

      Not going to swear that it is not AptX adaptive as I thought I remember it showing 48khz sampling. But I don't have a phone that shows it definitively so didn't mention it. Noise floor is there on quiet tracks, but still higher that I was expecting. Maybe it will be better in tbe inevitable Pro version. Thanks and enjoy the 09Pro. Looking forward to hearing about it now that I finally tried a KZ module.

      @@PaulWasabii I have both the AZ09Pro and the BTX. Frankly, I have no background hiss (i.e. "high" noise floor) or other background noise issues, after having used them for about 1 year. Bought two AZ09 Pro sets on AliExpress discount ($26 a set), one in factory C-pin and the other modded to support B-pin (S12, T3+, HZ Heart Mirrors, Olina, Lea). I have used these earhooks daily, for both work and play. They are fantastic, IMHO, and for the price...an absolute bargain.
      For the S12, I use Power Mode (3 successive clicks to left earhook button). It does reduce battery life by about 15%. The Power Mode does not introduce background noise.
      Frankly, the BTR5 and cables have been collecting dust for some time.
      These earhooks are my favorite audio purchase in the last 12 months. Also positive about the FiiO BTA30Pro (with TX, RX, and DAC modes) purchase for about $125.

      May I ask if you mean that the 09pro is better than getting the BTR5?

      The 09pro has a discount this coming april 4, so hopefully id able to get yoir opinion before then

    As searched, the pin subject is adaptable. Notice I read the blon products work on a rectangular molded qdc (tfz type), AND are reverse polarity. I can find the link for that somewhere. Also the fit issue, the az09 is less stiff on the hook (ex: cca would be a sport version ?.). Link for that also.

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  2 года назад

      Thanks. I snipped the end of the BTX to get around the rectangular qdc. It may stretch over it. I did read the AZ09 was not as stiff and possibly less background noise.

  • @Ken-zg3ze
    @Ken-zg3ze 2 года назад

    Great review. If these still have a high noise floor then that means the AZ09 Pro probably have the same noise floor, correct? The AZ09 Pro also uses the 3040 so I'm assuming they're basically the same. I think I'll go with the Fiio BTR3k or the ES100 instead since you said they are prone to falling out. I just saw that you have the ES100. How is the noise floor on that? And do you prefer BT dac/amps like that over these BT TWS units? Not only the form factor but what about sound quality compared to the BTX?

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  2 года назад +1

      My general observation over not many samples of KZ bluetooth gear, background noise has been more prominent than it should be in 2022. 2 years ago, ok. ES100 and Q5K are near black and I use LDAC on wireless. Those are both better than any tws adapter I have tried, maybe I am picky but both ES100 and Q5K are quite far ahead of any bluetooth adapter. The available power plus LDAC puts them in a different league. TWS adapters are convenience.

    • @Ken-zg3ze
      @Ken-zg3ze 2 года назад

      @@PaulWasabii Thanks for your input. I'll go with the 3k or 5 because I really want to have Aptx LL for playing games and it has LDAC too. From what I've read it seems like the es100 and 5k have better range but I guess I can't have everything in one.

      Send it in for warranty repair probably. If you are on Facebook, try messaging Tyvan and ask: facebook.com/profile.php?id=100066251571990

    • @jb678901
      @jb678901 Год назад +1

      BEFORE sending it in, FIRST attempt a factory reset ( I wish reviewers would read the damn directions). It is a simple procedure.
      1) Make sure case is fully charged.
      2) Place both earhooks inside the case.
      3) Press each earhook button simultaneously and hold until you see both flashing white/red/blue combo coloration.
      4) Simultaneously release from each button press and close the case.
      5) Wait 15 seconds, open case and observe if the left side has reestablished its link.
      Try this first...if it doesn't solve the issue, then consider warranty/return process.

    Is it compatible with Blon bl07?

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  2 года назад +1

      You would need to cut a bit off the end as I showed at the end. The short story is the area around the base of pins on BL07 is a rectangle and the KZ/CCA style assumes an oval base. So you can try to stretch the BTX connector around the corners of the base or snip off the extra material as I did. So not officially compatible but should be able to get it to work.

The Az09Pro has a very comfortable and looser fit over the ears and I have worn them daily (alternating between two sets) for about 1 year; with complete satisfaction. Also bought the CCA BTX during this last 11.11 sale ($28!!) and they sound the same...fit a little more snug and secure over the ears (for a more active use case). I think the BTX has slightly better sweat resistance, too. Battery capacity on the BTX is slightly less...maybe 10% less. Still plenty of battery life on these earhooks and excellent with the case (+42 hrs).
