- Gimnazija Kranj Great Christmas Concert 2017 - Invitation to the Dance. Gimnazija Kranj Symphony Orchestra and United Choirs performed this stunning music under the baton of maestro Nejc Bečan. The Orchestra sold out two consecutive nights, december 18th and 19th, 2017 in Gallus Hall, Cankarjev doma, Ljubljana, Slovenia, EU. They played as usual with great spirit and musical excelence. Indeed Ernestina sings this most beautiful composition of Franz Lehar so beautiful as it was written especially for her to sing. BUT that being said Nejc Becan and his wonderful musicians must also be complimented. Nejc... what a wonderful job you did and your choice if this composition is the best! Thanks for giving us so much inner joy with what you do and share with us all.

Probably my most favourite soprano of all time - as well as the orchestra and choir.
I'm in my 70's and have heard plenty of magnificent sopranos in my time but Ms. Jost is in a category all by herself. I hate comparisons but I can only imagine she and Sissel singing together it would make the angels pause. She sings like a crystal bell tolling. So young and beautiful; she is captivating beyond words.
In any case, I agree with you. Also I can very well imagine a duet Ernestina Jošt with Sissel Kyrkjebø (the first song I heard from Sissel was 'Solveigs Song' in Norwegian). Both are unique and the angels would listen; and applaud. - The voices of these two women are simply beautiful.

I've been a classical music nerd for 3 years- heard SO many sopranos. Never heard one with such a light, free tone. I don't say this as blank praise, she is quite possibly the best soprano I've ever heard in my life. Most sopranos get heavy vocally, sound thick, or have too much vibrato. Her tone is freeing, liberating, transcending - everything a soprano should be. I'm in awe
This voice is not enough trained for opera or even this song but I’m in awe for everyone who like cute but undeveloped voices like this.

I still miss this group! It was my goal to travel to Europe with one of the focal stops being to hear Gimnazija Kranj in concert. Maestro Becan has such an ability to bring the best out of young musicians, and they played with a verve and passion missing in so many professional orchestras. Alas, I can never do so, but I still regularly enjoy their offerings here on RUclips. Maestro, best wishes to you in your career. May you find peace and happiness in all that you do.

I discovered her and this wonderful orchestra by seeing her video of the beautiful Czech song "Když mne stará matka", but then I listened and watched her version of "Rož, Podjuna, Zila", the most Beautiful performance of it that I have ever heard, and now I cannot listen to too much of her. 💖💖

Yes, thank you, Roman. I am aware of the history of these valleys and of now-Austrian Carinthia, through several sources in past decades even before Ernestina performed it and Primož published the excellent historical background of the song and of that region to accompany his video. And it was the first (but certainly not the last) song that I learned to sing in the beautiful Slovenijan language.

Agreed... Ernestina is all of that. Your beautiful country by the Adriatic Sea and the Alps is an absolute treasure chest of musical talent and natural beauty. Although I have lived in the Hawaiian Islands for the past 32 years, I believe that if I were to visit Slovenija, which is my plan in the near future, I would want to stay permanently, in part because I have become friends with some of the young musicians in this orchestra and chorus, and also the founder and music director of the orchestra. And I have even translated into English a couple of the lovely performances by the chorus during the past year. One step towards learning to speak Slovene, which is a formidable task. But I have some wonderful help with that.

It’s my heart and my soul and that will never change. it’s the most beautiful country in the whole wide world ( my unbiased opinion 😂), but I’m a mountain junky and have I mentioned we have a seaside too? It might not have enough sunny days or warmth for you. For me it’s just perfect. I live in Ljubljana, but my mother was born in Kranj. I hope you’ll visit one day. It will be fun. Do you know Perpetuum jazzile? Another Slovenian treasure.
