Thanks, Steve. There is something restful about watching trains go by. Thank you.
In 1969 I ran out of gas northbound US 395 (now I-15) between Victorville and Barstow about 11:00 PM. It was a Yellow Freight guy who stopped and picked me up. He was dropping the trailers in Barstow & kindly gave me a ride south back to my pick up truck. Thanks to him, 3 of us got back to Fort Irwin in time for roll call.

Duncannon Trains are East/West (Pittsburgh - Jersey) trains where across the river on the Buffalo Line they are North/South ... Enjoyed the video!

They most likely need wells and spines at the destination point and put all the empties on that train going to where they need them. Now BNSF and UP both do unit empty well spine trains that go to where they are needed, sometimes on the opposite end of the system. Seeing that Tiger cool express being the only one on the whole train was a neat treat. NS I believe runs Tiger Express because they interchange with UP, who is a big carrier of it. I've never seen Tiger Express on the road, which is weird given they have to put it on a truck to go somewhere eventually and I'm wondering if they even truck in the United States. The town of Duncannon has really preserved their station well and should be proud of it!

The empties are probably either heading to the Harrisburg intermodal yard on Industrial Rd or the Rutherford intermodal yard just east of the city.

Repositioning empty equipment is an expression of network balance. Every carrier would prefer to be tendered the same number of loads in both direction in all lanes. Reality is some lanes are imbalanced where there are more loads moving in one direction versus the other, hence the need to reposition empty equipment. Railroad has people and software to attempt to predict, manage and minimize the imbalance since moving empties is a non-revenue move but it is a very dynamic problem.

Groovy! Good location in Duncannon as well as some other spots I like such as Rockville Bridge, New Galilee, Fairhope and Cresson Overlook.

Looks like that train worked a yard by picking up those empty baretables as part of train orders to its destination where they’re needed. Could be regularly, could be as needed, could’ve even been a one time thing

just south of Duncannon there are two large NS yards, the Harrisburg yard on the East side of the river and Enola yard on the West side of the river

So, it's Friday morning April 1st, 5:45 am here, which would be the same as Central USA time zone, and you're already at 6:45 am there, and I'm waiting for it to be light. Gotta lotta things to do today, even though I don't work. VA pension is in my San Diego, CA Chase Bank and need to go to the ATM here for my withdrawal in pesos, and I see your video appear. I read Harrisburg, and I'm thinking... cool, I wonder if I'll get to see the Susquehanna River? Which I remember from driving alongside and through Harrisburg in December 1971 on my way up to Hamburg, New York from Bainbridge, Maryland for a Christmas break when I was in Navy Nuclear Power School there. Not the least bit disappointed. Wow! It's just as pretty as I remember. That will always be a cool part of my early years and part of the world I grew up knowing. I have no clue on the empty cars. Actually, I was more impressed by the beautiful looking day, trees, river, railroad station and your accent. And, of course, the overall pleasing quality of your video. Nice hat, too, buy the way... probably still a little cool temperature-wise, I imagine. Gracias por tu video. Bien hecho (Well made). RT sends... envía... Colonia Centro Histórico, Puebla, México...

That’s a real nice area for rail fanning. Another great spot is down the road at Rockville, where the Rockville Bridge crosses the Susquehanna River.
On a side note, if you ever heard of the “Duncannon Subway”, I only found about 7 years ago that it really wasn’t a Subway 😂

I wonder how those trailers (not the containers in the deep well carriages) get loaded onto those flatbed carriages? Do they crane them like the containers or drive them on/off with a yard tractor?
