    When my niece finally spoke I was so happy I baked a cake and wrote "She speaks!" on it. And I bawled my eyes out the day she said my name for the first time.

      How old was your niece when she spoke?

    • @smellamyblake8352
      @smellamyblake8352 3 года назад +2

      @@judymorrise She said her first word at able a year old but didn't really progress much. When she was 2 she had only like 5 words. She said her first sentence at about 2 and a half.

    I am semi non verbal. I have autism and Selective Mutism. I use an AAC app on a tablet when I find speech difficult. I love language and when I wasn’t able to get the words out when I was a kid it made me very upset because just because I couldn’t form the words verbally didn’t mean I couldn’t in my head. I have needs and wants. I have stories and questions. Children and adults who find verbal communication difficult deserve to have a way to communicate effectively, just as anyone else!

      I have a question. Do people talk to you like a baby when they dont know that you are just as smart as them? I'm gonna be tested for it (probably 2 years because of canada's waitlists) and when I tell people that, they talk to me like im a idiot.

      I am this way today. I am 38. I can repeat things so well in detail like weather, laws, about Autism, and my symptoms and needs. I have such a hard time with my thoughts, getting my needs met, and more. It is so hard when my dad abuses me and neglect me and causes me sensory overload. It is so hard for me because I am ignored by everyone. I don't know if aac helps me because I feel pressure to communicate. I am left without assistance with navigation the services and systems. I am not able to take care of myself. It is so hard. I just have such a hard time understanding social cues, what is being said, processing, and planning and organizing my thoughts, feelings, and needs to get help and it is so hard it causes me severe emotional and behavior issues that puts me and others in danger.

    He is so smart. I have autism. I was nonverbal until 5. I have a hard time with things. Communication makes it very hard for me. I can repeat things. I have a hard time with cooking, shopping, cross the street, make friends, work, going out to a park, using the bathroom, and shower and stuff. I have a hard time. It is so hard for me. My sensory, my cope with changes, need for routine, keep moving, not understanding, and not able to process and plan and organize my thoughts and responses to get help. Take my sugar or take my pills and everything in life is so hard. I don't have services I need. My state is giving me so much trouble.

      There’s lots of apps, it just depends of what specifically they need. I’ll list a few apps I’ve tried:
      Proloquo2go
      Snap core first
      TouchChat
      Some others that I haven’t tried are
      LAMP words for life
