Every christmas me and my mum would watch this as my dad made mince pies in the kitchen. I hope she can watch this from heaven now alongside me. It still makes me cry ❤
Thank you for uploading this, I'm from the generation of the first film and have never seen this until today, just never got around to it. It bought a tear to my eyes when the snow dog became real! Beautifully illustrated. What a lovely story and legacy of The Snowman. Merry Christmas everyone! 🎄☃️🎅🇬🇧✨
Me too. I've not cried in a long time, and that had tears falling. I can't believe I've only just found this video. I watched the original as a child. This was a bitter sweet ending, beautifully told.
or any pet creature really. I still teared up about my pet rats years after their tragic passing. Although I never managed to train them they recognized me and it was fun to watch them play with toys and each other
I always hoped that this was the resurrection of Billy's lost dog; that his or her soul was brought back to the Snowdog by the magic that brings the Snowman back each time one of the kids works the magic.
R.I.P Mr Raymond Redvers Briggs CBE (18 January 1934 - 9 August 2022) was an English illustrator, cartoonist, graphic novelist and author. Achieving critical and popular success among adults and children, he is best known in Britain for his 1978 story The Snowman, a book without words whose cartoon adaptation is televised and whose musical adaptation is staged every Christmas.
It's sad when the Snowman melts, but what this second installment tells us is that it's only a matter of time until he's brought back by another kid in that house, who then shares in the great adventure.
So I think the first boy was James and this new one, his successor, is Billy. I like the idea that there'll be a string of kids who bring the Snowman around every thirty years or so, nominated by finding the previous one's hope chest under the floorboards. :)
Wow, I remember the old story of the snowman well, feels like old times, but I like the new one with the snowdog very well and with snow sports too, so if you ever build a snowman, always remember that you must make sure you build him properly and that, he might be the same snowman
You know, I remember that there was an "End Of Part One" and "Part Two" bit after the Light The Night sequence and just before the carnival sequence in this special. All we need to do is unearth these bumpers from the original broadcast if it hasn't been done already.

Lost my dog at the begging of 2024, watched this in December and cried so hard. Still miss my good boy. ❤
This was the last Christmas film i watched with my mum before she passed 2 and a half years and still makes me blubber like a baby
The bit where he transforms into a real dog always gets me 😢 Anyone who has lost a beloved dog with get hit in the feels with this 😢

Rest in peace John Coates and Raymond Briggs
I loved this film so much when I first saw it, and the bit at the end always got me.

Appreciate the people and pets in your life while you still can. They could be gone tomorrow.
I saw a bit of this yesterday. I know how this boy felt when his dog passed away. My dog died last year in 2023.
I’m not crying, I’m just cutting onions
Well at least he got the dog this time!
Me too 😢
Are you making a lasagna...for one?

Yeah... but you're making apple crumble! Lol.
Thank you so much for uploading the snowman and the snowdog ☺️🎄✨😄 I love this beautiful animation. 🥰 ⛄🐶
As soon as he woke up I was like

In memory of John Coates 1927-2012
James the boy in the old found, discovered photo, like from the 1982 version.
Like the Snowman noticed and looked at the picture on the fridge door.
Love the song in the middle... was a decent updated version, of sorts, to Walking In The Air.
I never saw this film until just today 14/12/24
The best! Been watching it every year since I was a child!
I’ve never watched the whole thing until now 🎄

These films make me so darn bipolar and I am not bipolar. They could have just gave it a happy ending, could they not??? 😫😭🥰
