I hope Colin has hired Loz as the full time broadcaster for all the WSM events. As Loz , for me now, is the voice of Strongman, and he needs to be calling the events on the recording or webcast , whatever they do.
Agreed. But I fear they’ll just go for big names and social media followings over what true strongman fans would like to see and what could actually be good for the sport.
I have to say, I was genuinely impressed with the extent to which Uncle Loz pressed Colin in this interview, particularly when Colin went from saying that World's Strongest Man consists of 12 events to, 2 minutes later, saying that it could not have 10 events due to it being a "tendon-tearing fest". This, in addition to the rest of the points made in that portion of the video, seem a bit flimsy to me. In my opinion, the future of strongman lies in it being considered a sport rather than a television show.

If you have a functioning qualifying system, like what the Arnold Classic has, you don’t need to rely on dumb luck or a surplus of athletes to make it into the WSM finals. Loz in the early 2010s would have smoked an “Arnold Santa Monica” type qualifying event for WSM, it just didn’t exist at the time and still doesn’t. Literally half of the WSM finalists were determined last year by one event: the atlas stone last stand. That is simply inexcusable for a sport of strongman’s (rising) popularity.
@@Strongman408 If you're using 2020 Santa Monica as an example then where would you put the cut off at top 3? because if you did only top 1 gets in then Brain shaw wouldn't get in and Maxime wouldn't either. This also means 1. people can see which contest is the "weakest" and sneak by that way. 2. people need to compete in shows for the prize money, which means you could have several people competing who have already won because they need the prize money because winning a comp doesn't earn you lots of money heck winning WSM WINNING gets you less than $100,000 and that's if you win so how much money will qualifiers earn you. The years where there were no Brits involved would have killed my interest as someone who didn't know the ins and outs of the sport. I think that would be the same around the world for smaller nations who don't have a lot of great competitors. So say the heats have their usual random mix of more niche events but every heat has something like squat and hercules hold which give them points in their heat but are also ranked against everyone else once they make the final. Means you could have a compressed final with just 5 events that actually factors in the athletes performance across 7 events without any extra time taken up. Also spreads out the efforts a bit so you could always be considering the 3 main movements as well as the strongman specific stuff without overworking everyone by trying to squeeze all those events into 1 or 2 days
With the amount of athletes that have withdrawn this year due to covid, injury or retirement, this would be the perfect WSM to cut out the heats and go straight for a 10 event contest over the 5 days with the remaining strongmen.

No one should bash on mariuz i mean dude dominated wsm and there were good dudes competing with him, Big z for example. And if shaw wins this year its his title we should talk about when the defending champion sits out and "half the field" is either retired or injured this year.
He (Dominic Filiou) died, but yeah, he weighed 405 pounds, not 450 when he competed at Worlds. Jerry Blackwell weighed 475 pounds and Cleve Dean weighed 465 pounds.
Loz completely agree with you sir! fortissimus 2008 ten events and one of the best shows ever split into parts great television productions. With the personality of our competitors today would be even better to see the best over 10 events, I understand Colin is one of the godfathers of strenght, but you are one of the greats actually giving us material to watch every year in December, so many other competitors including Brian and said would like to get rid of the heats, but I think nothing will change with Colin thinking if it's not broke dont fix it! It's not broken, but getting very stale this format the only time tried somthing different was in 2004. Do me a favour get your point across and dont let him interupt you :)
There needs to be an event that 8 people show up and draw 8 events from a pool off 12 and compete for the highset points and if theres a tie 2 people draw for a 9th event
What an odd character he is. He's taken the sport up a level however since he did that he's actually regressed it in the last 2 years. Personal attacks on the star man in Thor, poor event selection and a clear unwillingness to listen to fans on event atmosphere or experienced athletes such as Loz on event set up and preparation for the safety of the athletes and for a true test of the best strongman.
I'm definitely still ganna watch wsm 2020 but thor licis and kileskoskie were my 3 favorite strongmen. It definitely makes it less exciting. But I'm sure big shaw is smelling that 5th title tho
When’s the next Strongman Show? I have an idea for a drinking game where you take a shot every time Marcus says “fair play to him” or that he’s “genuinely chuffed” about something. I’m looking to attack my liver the way Shivalkov attacks events!
As it is now with the heats and the final you have six one hour shows. You could have a few more athletes than you do have in the final now and have two or three events per episode and make it a really good test of over-all strength. Sure, the heats are exiting but in order to get a more varied set of events in the final it would be worth it to skip them Most definitely skip the last man standing for the heats.
Colin Is such a cool, crazy guy LOL perfect man for the job...thank you Colin for all the hard work💪💪🙏🙏. The American election is tomorrow and I have a feeling after that is done with, a lot of things will start to change. In a good way.

I just had a comp in Memphis Tennessee and nobody had masks nobody social distanced everyone is fine. A lot of people in america dont care about this and just want their life back.
How long did the competition last for? What do you mean by saying everyone is fine? That no one was diagnosed with covid-19 at the event? I'm often left with the impression that a large percentage of the population aren't aware that covid-19 takes a long time before an infection is symptomatic. The infection incubates for 5 days on average before people display symptoms, but people become infectious a few days earlier. That creates plenty of opportunity for people to spread the virus before even knowing they have been infected themselves. Look at the US and how many cases there have been, and how many are dying daily. Currently pushing 2000 daily deaths, and 150,000 new cases and increasing. Many states are struggling to have space to take in patients, and what is to happen to those that aren't sick with covid-19, but require medical intervention to treat other potentially lethal diseases?

imo those weights are too close to eachother. 140 160 180 200 seems better to me
@@pepsicat yeah true. You have to think also that they aren’t getting any rest between logs. It’s one fell swoop
I would love for the last two logs to be 200 and 220. That would make the points interesting.
@@utgardkraft1412 Noone would press 220, in a log medley.
🙌🙌
just because some big names are out of WSM it dont mean it be crap its anyones game on right day and event and its got lot of talent ready to smash it hard ITS GONNA BE A LEGENDRY SHOW I CAN FEEL IT IN ME BONES
Paul Dickinson next?
I read Bruce Dickinson and was equally confused and intrigued.
i like the heats i do not believe we should get rid of them it makes wsm the WSM
Love lozs show... Colin looks like a bond villan...would of my made my day if he'd of spun around in a big chair with a cat on his knee ..
Why wasn't Rauno Heinla invited?
They got another Estonian to go. The world doesn't rotate around Estonia.. It rotates around England and Texas.
Im interested in this too
KAZ almost caused the death of OD Wilson at pure strength comp, and they were team mates! He'd definitely commit genocide to be a champion.
Kaz and Capes not even mentioned in the discussion around greatest rivalry?
No one should bash on mariuz i mean dude dominated wsm and there were good dudes competing with him, Big z for example. And if shaw wins this year its his title we should talk about when the defending champion sits out and "half the field" is either retired or injured this year.
Big up loz really enjoying all that you are doing!!!!👊👊👍👌
There was a Canadian guy that competed in WSM about 12 years ago, he was 450lbs. He was huge but he was terrible.
Lalas can NEVER retire!🤣
What an odd character he is. He's taken the sport up a level however since he did that he's actually regressed it in the last 2 years. Personal attacks on the star man in Thor, poor event selection and a clear unwillingness to listen to fans on event atmosphere or experienced athletes such as Loz on event set up and preparation for the safety of the athletes and for a true test of the best strongman.
He has to deal with execs and corporate at the same time as athletes/fans. It can't be an easy job trying to please both sides.
I'm definitely still ganna watch wsm 2020 but thor licis and kileskoskie were my 3 favorite strongmen. It definitely makes it less exciting. But I'm sure big shaw is smelling that 5th title tho
You are ordered to go to the chalkboard and write Mateusz's last name 100 times.
@@JeffO- for real
@@JeffO- oof
Colin looks like “It” from the horror movie lol
When’s the next Strongman Show? I have an idea for a drinking game where you take a shot every time Marcus says “fair play to him” or that he’s “genuinely chuffed” about something. I’m looking to attack my liver the way Shivalkov attacks events!
I like the guy but do sometimes find him a little annoying. He completely goes off into his own world sometimes when talking 😂
Always like 👍 👍
Totally agree about getting rid of the heats, it makes too much sense tho so Colin won’t do it 😂
As it is now with the heats and the final you have six one hour shows. You could have a few more athletes than you do have in the final now and have two or three events per episode and make it a really good test of over-all strength.
Sure, the heats are exiting but in order to get a more varied set of events in the final it would be worth it to skip them
Most definitely skip the last man standing for the heats.
Talking strongman with Eddie soon?
Love the comparison between Eddie Hall and Michael Jordan.... two of the most determined men ever in sport!
Colin Is such a cool, crazy guy LOL perfect man for the job...thank you Colin for all the hard work💪💪🙏🙏. The American election is tomorrow and I have a feeling after that is done with, a lot of things will start to change. In a good way.
Loz is it true about Mateusz Kieliszkowski being out or WSM?
Yes
@@ThorsHammer88 thanks.
How much did O.D. Wilson or Cleve Dean weigh?
O.D, weighed between a little over 400 pounds at WSM (about 406). Cleve Dean weighed 465 his first year and 440 pounds his second year.
SPACE COWBOY, bet you weren't ready for that!
time for wsm to get into the live streaming business
Is Nick Best replacing Matues?
Who is the better all-round strongman jon-pall or kaz PMSL Well watch WSM 1988 and then you will find out simple
Colin reminds me of the Joker be it played by Heath Ledger or Joaquim Phoenix.
Is that Colin Bryce or Agent Smith from The Matrix?
Both.
Eddie is a shocking boxer Loz, Thor is taking his time with boxing technique
End of the day it’ll come done to who gasses out last lmao
Am I going to have to unsubscribe until after WSM has been on tv?
You better quarantine in a cave somewhere. Ive tried for years to not see the fucking results... stumbling upon them all the time. Ive given up.
@@utgardkraft1412 I’ve usually been able to not find out, but this year there is a much bigger online presence from everyone it just seems like it’ll be impossible. But I will try haha
If Mateusz is out Brian Shaw is the favorite. And if Brian drops out Obie is finally gonna get it done
Except for Shaw, the projected winners are out. Save the trouble: Just give it to Brian.
