Love watching WSM at Christmas and have since I was a wee boy but only last year was the first time i saw it live in Glasgow and WOW. As soon as the tickets were available for this years Glasgow show I bought my tickets and so looking forward to it. Watching the show in Glasgow it looked so well run and the crew knew what to do each time and everyone helped each other. Years ago i used to work in event safety and saw a lot stage setups and break downs and stuff always goes worng but I didn't see any flaws at the Giants Live

Only thing is if you have done any weight lifting you feel yourself lifting the weights as well, so by the end of the show you are knackered as well 😂😂😂😂. And even though I am very partially sighted I am a photographer and I took a good few hundred photos last year and intend to do the same this year
As so many other people mention, I would just love to be able to watch a live stream of WSM, no other sport where you have to wait this long just to watch the actual events
I agree. It is the dumbest thing in existence. Like everybody knows who won. Who wants to watch it months later? Strongman is awesome to watch live...they might as well release it on VHS, thats how worthless it is later.
They have so many camera folk there, honestly just an off the cuff live feel of the events and anyrhing going on behind the scenes would be ace, we get to see the nature of the athletes beofre their events without being intrusive and the events. Yes it would be a long hours upon hours stream but everyone would watch.
We shouldn't but as aunty liz said on there live stream if u had a live stream the TV contracts would.go way down and the money would b a lot less even with all the people buying the stream

I do actually think that getting rid of the qualifiers and groups and just letting everyone compete would make things way better. It always seemed a bit duff that people could go out just because of being in a tough group.
Colin uses the football world cup analogy. I think one thing you need to take from football and many other sports is a live group draw. You could easily do it with say Loz's channel just as the group reveal was done. Also love to see you talking with Arnolds, Rogue, WUS and somehow formalize this as a sport, with a governing body.

Re: formatting and groups spoken about in the middle: It would be very cool and engaging to see a live random draw for the groups (names out of a hat will do!). Have 3 tiers of seed with 10 athletes in each, and draw 2 from each tier into 5 groups of 6 athletes. Particularly with what's happened in the last 24hrs, you have to realise that strongman fans need to see transparency. Casuals who watch only at christmas don't care - the core fanbase who turn up to live shows do.
Do you seed athletes an events to give specific people a greater chance Colin? Was Thor right about you and Eddie in 2017? I never thought so but now have real doubts

Like 2017 to Eddie or 2021 to Tom? If that's the case it really makes me respect Novikov even more. A man who won in 2020 when nobody was talking about him as a real contender for the crown. A year where events weren't seeded for him and he wasn't a group seed
So many geniuses here thinking they could improve it. It's been refined and refined over 40 years now to the point where it's a very fine art, and you know who's not complaining? The 99% of WSM viewers who aren't hardcore fans who are worth a lot more to WSM than we are, and rightfully so

On the stopwatch/ninja warrior buttons thing, imagine if someone put the last atlas stone up and then groped around for the button and missed it. No-one would take the delay seriously. Hence, not a good idea.

It's costs squat for a single camera pointed at the event, and hooked up to a live stream. Sponsors would be lining up. We talk about research here and there, I think the research finds that the clips/show/etc etc will not be affected by having a live stream. Just give us what we want lol. Seriously though, thanks for the candid talk. Bottom line, there's plenty of revenue to be had, all you've gotta do is reach out and grab it.
I agree in principle but I’ve heard a number of folks say or hint that the networks would pay substantially less for TV rights it was non exclusive. So unless it got a massive title sponsor or MMA level pay per view the numbers don’t make sense. I don’t understand WHY the networks take this stance as I doubt it would hurt their viewership but until we convince TV execs of our point it’s going to be hard to get to a live stream.

I agree with alot of what's being said. Especially given the recent situation with Stoltman. I know they make alot in TV money but I think the whole event needs an overhaul. Strongman is more recognized now then ever and if they capitalize on the situating the sport is in it can vault the sport into the mainstream. If it's done right.
Big fan of Giants live and Colin but the ability he has to favour athletes and do things for them and then be referee at WSM it clouds the transparency of the sport let Magnus do the refereeing Colin you concentrate on getting WSM out of that stone age TV contract 👍
Could not agree more with you. Live stream would be amazing or at least showing it the next day. I would pay good money for a 5 day event as would every fan I know.
The only think I would suggest for Giants Live is to have more athletes on ESM to really show who should be going to WSM in Europe. Also North America Strongest Man and South Hemisphere Strongest Man in the same format as Europe's should be on the GL tour every year. This way there would be no doubt who should be invited from every part of the World
So excited for WSM this year. I have a different strategy. For the past 5years I have expected Brian to win so this year I’m not expecting him to win but still want him to win🤣

We really shouldn't be waiting until Christmas to watch a show that happens in May. I don't know why that's difficult to understand. I don't believe it's impossible or unprofitable to livestream the competition or broadcast it in a few days or weeks after the event. Btw. having it on CBS does not count as broadcasting it is ONLY in US or Canada or idk where else but there is NO WAY to watch the competition for EU fans other than wait for someone to record it and upload on YT at Christmas. Really shameful.
There is a contract with tv companies that is legally binding and cannot be breached. I don’t know why that’s difficult to understand. Probably multiple tv contracts in fairness. There is no livestream until those contracts end and it has been made more than clear ten thousand times, there is nothing to suggest they can replace tv money with livestream sales. Best hope is when contracts end and are probably renegotiated, that a livestream element is then permitted. But it’ll impact how much tv pay for that contract. This has all been explained by Colin and others countless times.
If strongman draws so much more viewers on the internet then on TV, then why do you still focus on TV so much? WSM fans now watch the results spreadsheets because they can't watch the show.
I want to know Colin's take on doing commentary and refereeing the same contests back in the day, casually overlooking the fact that he was the ref when discussing officiating on the commentary later. Kind of hilarious watching the early-mid 2000's shows.
Like podcast,how about getting disabled strongman or strongwoman on show,and do you think one of the these two things can happen,World Stongest Disabled Contest,or Time when Strongwoman will complete with the strongman in Worlds Sstrongest man
Corruption is not ideal here, but also I can understand why they would do it. Would you want someone with hardly any following at all winning your events or would you want someone with millions of followers winning your events and promoting your business? At the end of the day it's their personal private event, they can do whatever the hell they want, shady or not.
I think you should put the Strongman Classic on TV at xmas because it's a big spectacle that will draw new fans in, and put the polished/edited worlds out as a PPV earlier in the year.

Group draws shouldn’t happen, maybe the non finalists but the top seeds should be seeded accordingly so they won’t end up in a single group
