Totally agreed. I want to ride that hair pin curve both directions. I guess it's like a ride at Coney Island ! LOL. The stupid thing up here in the Greater Toronto Hamilton Area, is that the curves on the Spadina Line extension to Yaughan all squeal !! They are new, gradual curves, and the f---ing things all squeal. Older, sharper curve tracks on the Bloor-Danforth Line, and Yonge University Spadina line, excepting at Union Station, barely squeal at all. Does any one know why ? 19:05 also if you’re wondering what that empty space near Canal St is, there was going to be a train that ran crosstown via Canal St during the 1900s, but the idea was scrapped I think. So these are the remaining bellmouths

    R211's car assignment prediction
    - (A/C) Will keep their R179's and Receive the 460 R211 cars from the Base order of 535 Cars, For 8th Avenue CBTC (This leaves behind the 75 R211S cars for Staten island Railway) The C will continue to run different length trains like it has been doing With the R46's
-Only the Base order cars will get CBTC equipment installed This means Jamaica yard (E/F/M/R) won't be getting any R211 cars, so those lines will keep their R160's
-If the MTA excerises the first option order of 640 cars (all 5-car sets), they would go to Coney Island and Concourse Yards (B/D/N/Q/W) The B/D would need them to be NTT at Columbus Circle for 8th Avenue CBTC, and the N/Q/W would need them since they are easier to switch between Routes at terminals If the MTA decides to make the B/D lines 100% R211's the R68's from concourse Yard will be displaced to Coney Island Yard to Replace Some R46's there The N/Q/W lines would run a mix of R68/A and R211 units
The Remaining R211's from option order 2 will be assigned to East new York yard as (4-car sets) will run Occasionally with the (M) while the (J/Z) Gets mixed equipment of R179's and R143's and the (L) is keeping it's R143's and will receive Half of R160's (Alstom Propulsion)
Rockaway park shuttle will get Fully R179's (Depending on which yard the G will be assigned to maybe the G will get Fully R179's or mixed equipment with R160A-B's)
Finally we have Franklin Avenue Shuttle Now Franklin Aveune Shuttle Will be the very last B Division line to Get NTT's so with that Franklin Aveune Shuttle Will keep It's R68s until a future NTT comes to replace R68/A's in the Future
While the base order of 535 R211A/R211T's will be assigned to pitkin/207th street/Concourse Yards

18:35 It's interesting how the BMT changed their minds and did a diveunder here to go under and away from the local tracks. They must have recut the earth into the open again to make an open trough visible from the street. I see a solid concrete wall on the left, but still see steel beams to the right. I suppose the extra set of horizontal ceiling beams must have been put in to stop the local tracks from wandering over to the express tracks; a buckling of the wall sideways. I notice that the thickness of the vertical beams is now thicker in the redone section compared to the original section previously.
19:24 Is the kink in the tracks, and the wider center supports there to support the overhead BMT to Chambers Street ?
20:41 I always love to see the diversion, where the N train has to go from the north two tracks of four, over to the south two tracks of the four; it would have had to take the north side of the Manhattan Bridge before, instead of the south side that it does now.
20:43 The original Brooklyn bound (to north side of the bridge) alignment where the two walls ahead of us are now.
20:46 The two skewed walls on the left used to be the southbound to Chambers Street, and Bowery Street from the south side of the Manhattan Bridge.
31:23 Our tunnel is running through where the southbound Myrtle Ave. station platform would have been.
    Enough for tonight. Aarre Peltomaa

Logically, the assignments of the R262's should go as follows
    Base Order (504 cars)
    (6) train: 480 cars (direct replacement for 435 R62As, fleet expansion for local and express service)
-42nd Street Shuttle: 24 cars (direct replacement for 24 R62As)
    Option order 1 (445 cars)
    (5) train all cars (indirect replacement for some R62/As on the (1) & (3) lines)
    Option order 2 (415 cars)
    (2) train all cars (indirect replacement for all remaining R62/A cars on the (1) & (3) lines Direct replacement for R142 Cars damage in the March 2020 fire)
    (1) will get R142s from the (4) to Replace the R62/A's on the (1&3)
(2/5) will get half of the R262's to displace damaged R142's from the March 2020 fire and they will keep their R142's since they are interchangeable
The (3) will get also get R142's displaced from (4)
    (4) will have displaced R142A's to go the the (6) so the (4) will get all R262's
    (6) will receive R142As from the (4) and will receive Half R262's from the base order for fleet expansion for the (6) express and local service
    (7) The Flushing line will Not get R262's since the R188's are compatible with CBTC also the C car sets make the 11th car of the R188 so the Flushing line won't get new cars anytime soon
The 42nd Street shuttle will get R262's in 6 car sets with the addition of Platform Screen Doors for accessibility
The MTA might award the contract on mid 2025 so the R262's would arrive in time for CBTC configuration on the Lexington Avenue Line by 2032 All lines From the A & B Division will fully have CBTC installed we can see CBTC getting Installed on the Lexington Avenue Line (2024-2029) That span
Now I heard some people say that the R262's will make up entirely of the 2 4 5 lines and R142/A's will go to the 1 & 6 but I don't think that it is the case because 2/5 trains worked well with R142's they are interchangeable witch each other
I did hear some people say that the 2 3 4 5 will get R262's since the MTA wants more capacity on there express lines but I don't think that it is the case because Lexington is overcrowded and needs trains with more capacity and that is not how the MTA assigns cars
Also I heard some people say that the R142's will stay of the 4 and will make up entirely of the 2/5 while the 6 gets R142's and R142A's I dont think that's the case since the 4 needs the R262's since sometimes the (4) gets overcrowded plus Jerome yard isn't taking care of their R142's and R142A's
I did hear some people say that the 1 3 6 getting R262's because the 2 4 5 are fine with the R262's but I don't think this is the case because when the R362's arrive the car Assignments could change and R262's are for Lexington Aveune Line NOT the Broadway line
I think that the 4 5 6 will be entirely R262's if The De-lnterlinig of Rogers Junction changed the (5) routing so the (5) get can send to Utica Ave (exp) and the (4) could be new lots avenue (LCL) and the (3) will get send to flatbush with the deinterlining of Rogers Junction the 2/5 may no longer share a fleet
I shared this with some people they have different thoughts on the assignments of the R262's

Thanks for sharing this; it was quite an interesting read. A lot of folks have their own opinion on what will happen as it relates to those R262 trains and which trains/lines will be altered upon their arrival.
We look forward to these trains gracing our system and we imagine that regardless of where they go initially, they will bring a different perspective to the system and that we are excited about.

I Think the Base order of 535 R211A/R211T cars will be assigned to pitkin yard/207 Street yard/Concourse Yard to Run on the A/C/D and Rockaway Shuttle
The R179's on the A will stay for extra service, the 8 car R179 based out of 207th Street Yard would be displaced over to Jamaica yard This will make the C fully R211's and C trains will be extended from 8-10 cars. Meanwhile the G will have its trains extended from 5-8 cars which will be a relief for G train Riders who are tired of short trains
During this time, The B will most likely Run a mixture of R160-B's and R211's While in Concourse the (D) will run fully R211's The MTA will most likely retire all of Pitkin's R46's since they are in worse condition then the R46's at Coney island and for 8th avenue CBTC In addition to that, the R68's from concourse will be displaced to Coney Island, Retiring some of their R46's
Option order 1: This option order of 640 cars has 2 possibilities The first possibility is that 640 cars in this option order will go to Jamaica yard for the E, F and R With the B Running a mixed fleet of the R68/A's on the B will be displaced to the N/Q/W to Retire the Remaining R46's The second possiblity is that all cars go to Queens Blvd for Fleet expansion and to displace some R160A-2's and all R160B's to the C for extra service because the frequency's of the C are so bad (5 trains per hour)
Option order 2 This option order will contain around 437 cars in both 4 and 5 car sets The 4 car sets will go to the M, J and Z to expand their fleet for cars With that Some of the R179's from ENY will move to Jamaica or Coney Island for G service (depends on what Yard the G is assigned to) The 5 car sets will go to Coney Island for the N/W because of Ditmas Blvd switching, expanding the fleet and possibly retire some of the R68/A's in bad condition. Some of the R68/A's from the N/W will be moved to the Q This will also make the Q the only B Division line will 100% SMEE units
    Final Predictions
    (A) R211's and R179's
    (B) R160-B's and R211's
    (C) Fully R211's
    (D) Fully R211's
    (E/F/R) R160A-2's and R211's
    (G) R179's
    (J/Z) R160A-1's, R179's
    (L) R143's R160A-1
    (M) R160A-1's (Occasional R211 Pop ups)
    (N/W) R68/A's/ R211's
    (Q) R68/As (occasional R211's pop ups)
    Franklin Ave shuttle R68's
    Rockaway Shuttle R179's R211's

Seeing how clean the 2nd Ave Subway is (right now) makes me wonder if the MTA could rig up a power wash machine, and work their way through the system cleaning the tunnels. It would certainly help against dust, but I suppose the amount of accumulated dirt might overwhelm the tunnel drains. It might also be a disaster electrically with some of the ancient infrastructure.

Thanks for sharing. That would be pretty cool if they were able to use the resources given, to have a train travel and clean the system for all these different reasons; such as the one you suggested. We look forward to seeing what measures are taken to make it all possible.
