You should probably mention that you can't grab just any wrench out of your toolbox like you are implying. A chrome plated wrench will be toxic when it goes into the fire.
Hi! When steel is soft, file bites in easily and makes usual "low" filing sound. When steel is hard, file doesn't bite in, it skates and makes that specific "high" skating sound. It is easy and fast way to check if steel is hardened.
I’m wanting to start knife making myself. How long did it take to make this knife from start to finish? (Not counting time spent on the first one that burnt)
Thank you! I made it and yes, I welded a 10 milimeters thick piece of hardened truck leaf spring. I used it quite a bit,and there is no dents from hammer
Oven is for tempering. After hardening it is very hard and brittle, with tempering it becomes just a bit softer but much tougher. Every steel must be tempered after hardening, at least for knife making.
Steven Rathburn I’m no metallurgist, but when Steel gets too hot, even hotter than forging temperatures, the grain becomes too large and the steel just loses all its good properties. It looks bubbly and it kinda just falls apart. There’s really not much that can be done about this, except cut the portion that got burnt and continue; that is if you have enough material. In this case the wrench being a small medium to work with, was just scrapped.
I was watching an old video of your and I was hoping you could help me out with my 2x72 build and if u could email me some in o how your was built I have the steel tubing and motor but I have some questions about my motor .
I bought my grinder from local maker and only did some modifications. You can email me, if I can I will help you. Also you can search forums for 2x72 grinder plans.
Great video! Question: Does youtube still allow these type videos to be monetized? I heard RUclips was starting/trying to reduce available monetization for any videos having anything to do with weapons, prepping, etc. Please lemme know? *I have a blacksmith friend, who's asking me to help him establish a channel on blacksmithing and knife making (I own a software/cloud/web development company, but never helped establish any youtube channels). Thanks!!
That might be the best made RR track anvil I e ever seen
That’s legit!
I’m impressed. Now to do one for myself
Your clip is very good
This is a dream/goal in my life. So saw some man! Thanks for sharing!
Sweet belt grinder, cool anvil too!
Looks like something you could shave with.
Pretty cool.
Nicely done. Shape of knife is killer
immediatly admitting you made a mistake and burned the other wrench, props for coming with the truth.
Anvil came out nice!!!!
Great knife, love the look of it
Damn for your first time forging I would say you did a fantastic job. That turned out great in my opinion.
All you need is the right tools and imigination)

Making one today
I'd say it's good practice to wear a respirator whenever you are smithin anyway..
I’m inspired by your work. Thanks for showing me how to try to make one.
I'm very close to getting my forge up and running. I just need a belt sander, and a bench grinder. And a paper wheel.
Great video, thanks for sharing

Excellent work I love it 👏👏👏👏👏
Awesome informational educational video experience Y'alls God Bless Ya Prayers

Very good knife, did you just use barbecue brickettes for fuel.
Yes.
Good job,,
Llevas tiempo como herrero forjador ?
Cool looking knife!,,,,just be careful using the wrench.
Wrap a chain around the base of your anvil to stop the ringing.
10:18 good 👍 salam dari Indonesia 🙏🇮🇩

That's an impressive rail track anvil. If you built that yourself, great job on it. I'm guessing that's hardened plate welded to the top?
Thank you! I made it and yes, I welded a 10 milimeters thick piece of hardened truck leaf spring. I used it quite a bit,and there is no dents from hammer
@@FilipHuzjak Just saw the build video for it linked on the sidebar, as irony would have it. Again, fantastic work!
Fine work!
thanks, solid cool and I liked the music.
the music i think from the war of mine (game)
👍💪Здравия вам из России!

Magnífico trabalho. Amazing job.
Is the oven used to cure it somehow?
Oven is for tempering. After hardening it is very hard and brittle, with tempering it becomes just a bit softer but much tougher. Every steel must be tempered after hardening, at least for knife making.
What temp do u set it and how long do u hold it at said temp
Excelente trabajo y gran ingenio en donde puedo comprar una asi?
next time try using the horn of the anvil to angle the handle of the knife, that is what the horns are for.
How has this held up? Use it much?
Loved the video man great job 😎👍
Alhamdulillah is the best mbk 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I'm came here from scrubs
*KNIFE WREEENCH*

Brilliant work.. just subscribed 👍
Very nice
that is so cool
I love your anvils i wish I have that to
Well done
What type of oil did you use for the quenching? Thanks
msart000 I used sunflowe cooking oil. I beleave you can use pretty much any type of oil. Canola oil is popular for quenching
@@FilipHuzjak thank you brother
I used normal vegetable oil worked great
Even old engine oil is OK.
Good job bud
Super cooles Messer. Auch das maschinelle Finish finde ich extrem gut. Sah nach einem Mattierband aus. Verrätst du welches?
Cuanto tiempo y a, que temperatura lo deja el revenido, un saludo desde España🇪🇸🇪🇸?
My problem is, I'll try to still use this as a wrench and cut my fingers. :(
lol
Just get a new wrench
Why did u quench it twice?
Nice
What temp do u set oven and how long do u leave it
Around 200C/390F, for 2 hours
Practical and safe

Finish it off by putting some kind of wrap around the handle you made a great karambit
cool !
in my opinion its more versatile to make karambit of those old keys
I like your anvil
I will.pay you to make me a knife just like this one in the video..nice work buddy..I like it alot
Excellent
How much to make me one?
Just got some people you need to kill with it
Nice 🖒
Bravo
What do you mean you burnt it!?

When it is so hot it glows white, the steel is then ruined in that area. You have to watch that it doesn't get past a bright yellow.
Great video but prolly grind it before u harden it then put a microbevel
Propane forge?

You should watch Amazing KK Daily channel bro..
I Love you knife ❤💕
Nice knife tame that ping on your anvil throw some chains tightly around the anvil or attatch some heavy magnets or both your ears will thank you
Awesome video but could you use different music
Bon travail
If you can dodge a ball.. you can dodge a wrench!!
Great knife but the music is really unnecessary. I don't know about anyone else but I prefer to hear the sounds of the tools and the hammering.

Yeah, I recon, if your video didnt have background music would be beautiful !!!
U don't use as a wrench cause is not a wrench all ready, it's unsafe.
