    READ THIS WHOLE COMMENT!
    The TBS multiprotocol module WILL NOT WORK in the X9 Lite due to a difference in the shape of the module bay. It can bind to FrSky receivers! It just can't fit into the X9 Lite bay.
    When you update the firmware for the module, you must select the "inverted" type. The video shows the "uninverted" type of firmware. Also, you must manually create the FIRMWARE folder on the SD card, and you must rename the files to be less than eight characters long or they will not show up in the radio menu. E.g. name it "multiaetr.bin" not "multi-stm-opentx-aetr-noinv.bin".

    @Joshua Bardwell External multiprotocol modules use the INVERTED firmware while internal modules use the NON-INVERTED firmware. I don't have the TBS module so that one might be an exception however, all the other external modules use the inverted firmware.

    If I ever decide on a new radio to upgrade from my jumper, this is definitely the one i'm going with. It's portable, has folding gimbals and it supports all of my receivers. This is almost a better package than a radiomaster in my opinion. I guess it depends on how you like to hold your tx.

    Joshua, you mentioned you'd answer the question "why not just get an irangex module?" but I didn't really catch the answer to that. How do they stack up? Does anything justify the additional cost of the TBS module? To be honest, if it could update through TBS agent that might push the TBS module to the top, but if it can't even do that, what is the advantage?

    • @ojkolsrud1
      @ojkolsrud1 3 года назад +1

      Except the bigger screen, I'm right with you. The screen on the Tango 2 is big enough for what a screen on a radio (especially for FPV) is supposed to do - allow you to change settings. I'd argue that any screen bigger than 128x64 pixels OLED is way, way, way too big. I got my Tango 2 on monday, so I haven't really been able to fly with it yet, but I'm already loving it. In fact, it stood between it and the TX16S - the ridiculously large screen (and overall size) of that radio is what made me choose the Tango 2.
      I guess I'm not totally agreeing with you on having the module built in, either - because that would make the radio bigger, when it's no need for that. I like the Tango 2 because it's small. That makes it super easy to pack, when walking far into nature, for example.
      It seems to me like you're not describing a Tango at all, but rather a generic box radio like the TX16S. That's fine, but again, the nice thing about this one is that it's small. With the external module option, you *can* get some of the features you want, if you want them.
      Also, sorry about this, "ext" is not a word here. You're shortening "excetera", but the words are "et cetera", meaning "and so on".

After TBS multimodule introduction Tango 2 now kinda tick all boxes - have all features required for freestyle quads, compact enough to hide even in pocket, ergonomic, still OpenTX compatible, voice warning messages are present and now compatible with anything. Existing FrSky binding copying in multimodule is very cool - I'm not eager to disassemble quads with receivers hidden deep under FC for rebinding. How FrSky telemetry is working with multimodule? Probably not an issue. The only problem in multimodule socket attaching to radio - seems case miss proper opening for ribbon cable.

    Hi Joshua, thanks for the great video, but you probably might want to check again about radio cloning for older Frsky (pre 2.0 - FrskyD and FrskyX) whether using TBS MPM and Tango 2 really work the same as in your TX16 or Jumper's internal module. I found out that TBS MPM DOES NOT have the same capability as TX16/Jumper's 4-in-1 internal multi module (even with MPM latest f/w 1.3.2.77) due to the limitation/bug of FreedomTX (tested at the latest f/w 1.2.9). It does not have access to FrskyD/D8Cloned or D16Cloned subtype nor FrskyX/D8Cloned/ or D16Cloned (FrskyX selection doesn't even show up in FreedomTX). Only FrskyX2 is available (including the "Cloned" sub protocol). the "real" :D OpenTX radio (not fork) doesn't have this problem.
    This was also confirmed by multi-module dev in their forum (rcgroups) today. One of the workaround is to substitute the FrskyD and FrskyX protocol items with other protocol slot, so you ended up able to access the FrskyD D8Cloned (for example) but using other protocol name (i.e. Hubsan :) ), to do this you need to re-compile your own multi-module bin. I've tried it, not nice, but it works. Interestingly, this was actually an old bug because it was first asked in multi-module forum last Nov, but seems never been fixed in freedomtx until today... hopefully the day of moving to openTX for Tango 2 will come someday so we can enjoy the full compatibility of openTX features. In meantime, probably TBS MPM+Tango 2 should have been advertised as able to do Frsky cloning but only on FrskyX2 protocol, not older Frsky protocol.

    I wanna get into the fpv stuff. So basically im a beginner and im trying to understand how all these specs and systems work together. An i want to by a nazgul evoque F5 with the crossfire receiver. And my first questions is if the antennas are included when the crossfire nano diversity rx receiver is added and my secon question is if can use the TBS Tango 2 to fly that drone. Or do i also need the module on the back. It would be really nice if someone could help me out, because its just so much input and information i get, that i cant really understand everthing.
    And Joshua thanks for all your helping videos. Ive watched about 50 different one them in the last 2 days to get into the fpv worl. And its helping me a lot thank you.

    When you have the module bay on the back without the module, are the pins always exposed like that or is there some kind of nice cover you can protect them with?

    Will the TBS MPM come with the TBS Tango 2 module bay add on (or do you still need to buy that separately for a further USD10 or so) - the pics on the TBS website seem to so some sort of adapter with the MPM, bit I'm not sure if that includes the cable and connector stuff...?

    Hi can someone help me! im very new to this stuff.
    I have an emax pro drone and dji goggles which should connect no problem. I was looking at what transmitter to buy and the tbs tango 2 looked good except there was some mention about how it might not connect to my drone (i dont understand why it wouldnt). BUT! supposedly i could fix this problem by rewiring the controller and adding some new module on the back! (rewiring looks too complex for my two brain cells).
    SO, my question is, will the tango 2 connect to my drone or is there a way for me to find out if it will connect, before buying the controller.
    and
    If the tango 2 needs the module on the back to connect, is there a way to buy the tango 2 with the module already installed?

      @UnmannedSky Год назад +1

      It's relevant but don't bother going out and buying it. The elrs versions of the radiomaster zorro, boxer, TX16 are all better options since elrs is updating their products. TBS is not really.
      P.S. I still use the Tango 2 with an elrs module and it's still a great radio. But I've owned it for a few years now.
