Thanks! Well, unfortunately the T440 has the CPU soldered on to the motherboard. However, the T540p does have a socketed CPU and you can upgrade that to a quad core 4th gen i7. Check out the product specifications: psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/withdrawnbook/ThinkPad_T540p.pdf
I am not sure what the average temps were, but it was far from overheating. It got warm, but that is normal. I also put new thermal paste on the CPU and cleaned out the fan area, which can only help.
If it fits your budget and you can't invest in something like a T480 with a 4 core CPU, then yes totally. I am certain you would be able to make it work with the right amount of RAM and an SSD.
Things to consider for each device: 1)CPU 2)RAM 3)Integrated Intel HD 4400 OR NVIDIA GPU 3)SSD or HDD? 5)Display Panel Resolution. I would favor the T440 because I like ThinkPads and the durability/design more than any HP I have used or serviced.

I have a question. I tried to game on this laptop I got as a gift for Christmas. But when i played any normal game it couldn't load. It said the GPU is Microsoft Basic Render Driver. What do I do?
What are you trying to play? This laptop will only be capable of lightweight titles or perhaps retro gaming as it will be running on Intel HD 4400, which is a bit long in the tooth in terms of performance in that realm.
I would love to, but one has not come my way. I did just service a T440p, but I only filmed a SSD install and applying new thermal paste to the CPU/GPU.

@@HaisteComputerRepair Hello! Just wanted to know if your T440 also has a problem regarding it's font size (very small font), as I'm facing such an issue on mine, which makes my laptop very irritating to use. Yes, I have tried to increase the font size ( I've also tried to increase the scaling setting which just makes the entire display too big which is also annoying) but that only affects the apps like Google Chrome and not the desktop font size (even my taskbar is quite disgustingly narrow and doesn't take up the usual length of the screen as it does in all the other laptops, if you get what I mean), I've been wondering if it's because my laptop monitor doesn't support the 1920x1080 and higher resolutions or something as such, and I've also thought of installing an older windows version like windows 8 to try and fix this issue. However, if you know any other alternative method to swiftly solve this problem, PLEASE let me know, as it will help my studies quite a lot... many thanks!
