    I have this laptop. I upgraded to 500GB NVME, 16 GB RAM, new genuine 72WH battery. I love it. But there's no way I would want to replace the keyboard, WAY too many intricate ribbon cables to deal with and too much disassembly. Looking at the tiny flat cables I have no idea if I am supposed to pull out, if there's a roll bar that needs flicking up or if there's a semi-invisible flap that needs to be pulled up. So yeah, decent for upgrades but not so good for easy maintenance. I did re-paste the CPU/GPU though. Thanks for that.

    • @HaisteComputerRepair
      @HaisteComputerRepair  4 месяца назад +1

      It is actually quite easy to replace the keyboard. Only two ribbon cables underneath the keyboard, after removing a couple screws and lifting it up from the palmrest. I would film a video if I still had an X270

    • @techwg
      @techwg 4 месяца назад +1

      @@HaisteComputerRepair Every video I have seen, almost a full dissection was needed. They took the back off, battery, 2 or 3 ribbon cables, had to flip something over and od other stuff. Looked way more indepth than just re-pasting the CPU like I did. But I only did that because I watched a video of someone disecting it and noticed they flicked something up to remove the cable. If I had not seen that split second detail I would have left it with 100 degrees C temperatures. I don't wanna wreck my new (old) laptop. It did not look easy or simple from what I saw, to replace the keyboard. I am an IT guy but I deal with desktops I build myself not laptops. So I was happy that basic maintenance and upgrading was possible on the X270. Perhaps you have footage you could make stills of as an example of what would need to be removed?

      @@techwgWait, yes you are correct! I was thinking of the T470, for some reason. Anyway, check out this video, which provides a step by step. Looks like you might need to set aside a little bit of time: ruclips.net/video/Qbh5jOhNjyU/видео.htmlsi=c5TXjT4sgozP2mXm

      @@HaisteComputerRepair Thanks. Yeah not sure if I have seen that specific video but I have seen some and it looks indepth enough that I wouldn't really want to attempt it unless I was willing to right-off the whole machine if needed. If it was pretty simple it would be perfect. But all that said, my X270 has a working keyboard, though not back-lit. And I like the machine after my upgrades. Yours and others videos helped me decide on this. I found a seller in the UK who is an IT charity and they check all the bios passwords etc to make they they are all good to go, so I took the risk. Super happy with it. If it was a quadcore I'd have had an accident on the spot and needed clean underwear lol. But I am happy enough with it.
