Sometimes they would have various guitarists record individual solos then the brillant ears of Fagen and Becker would pick the best according to their genius. Some of the greatest music ever recorded is from Steely Dan !
SD always has some great sessions musicians on their albums. I was more of a metal/blues/prog listener, but got hooked on SD listening to the guitar work at first. Metal friends were always on about who was a better guitar player, and I was like, man, y'all need to hear some of this --
I absolutely love it...I can't tell you how many times my girlfriend has had to hear me on bass soloing to this song along with many others from Steely Dan's catalog since getting back into bass playing after other life responsibilities had taken priority. Keep up the great work my brother!!!!
You nailed it! You do know why you nailed it...right? It's because you've lived that song, breathed that song, and became part of it. After hearing this song for 50yr's.... you've played this one the best, I'm really impressed! 🎸👈😉👍
For any non musicians interested, playing an instrument blindfolded is actually remarkably easy. You develop extremely strong muscle memory for everything you spend time learning. Admittedly it gets a little tricky when it comes to sliding but it definitely makes a good party trick.
I often incorporate practices in complete darkness weekly. I find that sitting in my bedroom at 10pm with the lights off has done wonders for my muscle memory and chord confidence
tricky bit cause it's where the original guitarist goes off rhythm a smidge and then gets back on and it's my favorite bit - I love this solo, great job man!
Awesome. Always love it when the head bobbing and weird facial expressions start when a guitarist/bassist who really knows their stuff is getting into a riff or solo and starts grooving to the music.
The Denny Dias electric sitar solo masterpiece does not get old for me. I've heard it more times than Jeff Baxter in the last 52 years. Between Denny Dias and Elliot Randall (soloist on Reelin in the years), guitar soloing is unmatched.
Dude I'm a guitar player and have been all my life ( I'm 73 ) and I personally know many talented players and if this guy impressed you my friends would simply knock you out !! Anyone given the time and patience can do this !!
I remember the day I brought this album home. It was a weeks wages back then from my part time job. Good days back then, 750 Honda's, Dodge Challengers, thriving oil and gas industry, no enviromenalists, space program and affordable homes for every body. We need to go back to all those things and this music. Awsome thank you.
Very nice! My old guitar teacher played some Steely Dan and lots of Allman Bros using a Les thru a Mark IV. I can enjoy the Strat sound, and no one plays Dan bc it’s so darn hard! Keep on.
Very nice! Love how you play and interpret the solo on electric guitar. Really adds a new dimension to the electric sitar sound on the record and brings it to a new place.
That makes me miss my dad. He used to sit back with his eyes closed in the dark one leg propped on the other knee, and never miss a note playing along with so many good songs. It was my favorite thing he did by far. Mainly because that was just for me and himself. I miss you pop. I know there's a million out there just like you, but there will NEVER be another like YOU... There's every OTHER dad out there, and then theres YOU; cuz you were MY dad, and THAT is the difference.💜
That’s my favorite jam, am 57 and have a wealth of hearing this, trying to play it, watching others takes on it, and and andananadnand and Mmmm mmm mmmm that’s by far the most spot on impression of the live recording. Wonder what band he’s in? Love to hear him just take his own take on it and run…..
pure genius. Inventing that iconic solo was a massive feat involving brilliant creativity combined with exceptional skill. On the album it would not have been played consecutively. In fact it would have been pieced together in the studio which would have also led to it's final creation as many nuances or happy accidents would have been discovered during the process. This guy is able to paly the whole thing in one shot, note for note. Awe inspiring.
Will never get tired of watching this dude playing that solo
“Do 1 thing. Just do it well.”
Amen brother. That solo is awesome and it's absolutely iconic. To post your own copy to millions is a test of the size of your nads.
You won't get tired of it ? Thankyou for giving him a big head. Lol
😂 lol I see what your doing there when you say that
That expression is her being excited that after 100 takes he finally got it and she doesn't have to do it again.

I’ve always loved this solo. So rhythmically unorthodox but yet has this groove to it that’s just so bad ass! Nice job!!
Steely Dan albums contain nothing less than solid gold solos
Sometimes they would have various guitarists record individual solos then the brillant ears of Fagen and Becker would pick the best according to their genius. Some of the greatest music ever recorded is from Steely Dan !
Can't go wrong with Steely Dan....I was in elementary school when this song was released. It is absolutely timeless.
Does anyone know how the band got it's name? It came from a vibrating silver dildo, named "Steely Dan".
Swear to God, true story !!!!!!
There's a lot of talent online, but this was one of the smoothest I've ever heard. Top marks.
Fuck that is oozing talent!
Wow. Never new that solo was so intense. Great job
Awesome player!

This part of Do It Again always wows me...and this guitar playing hit all the notes!
Steely Dan is the real shit - this is real guitar work. Kudos Tracey!

and still plays the wrong notes.
Chills!!! I love it when it is played exactly how it was played!👍
Now that's what you call a true soul feeling the real music
Love that you play/listen to old "real" music!
Dude can handle an epic solo, much respect!!

Easy for You to say!

That’s next level. Timing was on point.
One of the best lead licks in rock! You seem to play with more feeling and soul when you blindfolded .👍
Wow! That is seriously impressive!
I mean not really no
Not really no. I mean yea the solo is pretty hard but if you're able to play it it doesn't matter if you're blindfolded ir not it is the same
For a guitar player it's like the equivalent of tying your shoes with your eyes closed.
Love the music in your videos! Takes me back to my youth!
tricky bit cause it's where the original guitarist goes off rhythm a smidge and then gets back on and it's my favorite bit - I love this solo, great job man!
Steely Dan best ever. This guy does a great job replaying it. Incredible!
I've never before seen anyone attempt that solo. Perfection. Awesome job, dude.
Basically you dont know norhing 😅 ive seen my guitarists play this to warn up theyr fingers

On of the best rifs ever..IMO
@@Cris91Cordyok try hard. You can’t even spell “nothing”. Post someone you know playing it and I’ll believe you.
Awesome. Always love it when the head bobbing and weird facial expressions start when a guitarist/bassist who really knows their stuff is getting into a riff or solo and starts grooving to the music.
Now do it with one hand tied behind your back 😂
Love the jams!
haha
i'll bet against you that he can!

You're the one who made me re-love this song a few years back w) your original girl..
Keep It Up, Bro & YAHU Bless.
Loved this and how even you realized that you were in the zone, almost as if you were a spectator of your own self and work. What a feeling!
hes playing it wrong and the wrong notes.
