No air con but we do have central heating , a radiater in every room running off of a boiler system that pumps hot water around to every radiater . Electric blankets are not really a thing any more , but do exist . A chest of drawers is where we put our folded clothes socks etc .Our houses are to small to have a walk in , larger new houses do have them , most houses also do have 1 faucet / tap we use to have 2 again thats very old fashioned . Remember Laurance left the UK 20 years ago so he is a bit behind the times
Electric Blankets have been around since the year 1912. It was invented by a Doctor Sidney I Russell to keep his patients warm in winter. The British people never really took to them until the year 1920, when a British Company started producing a version of the blankets. The Hot Water Bottle has been around since the year 1903.
What he means about a top sheet is, when you're lying on the bed you have another sheet as we call it over here or cover on top of you, and then the Duvet/ comforter on top of that. We do also have what we call a chest of drawers as well as a wardrobe for putting clothes in. I think the photo of the wardrobe that was shown had drawers at the bottom of it. 🙂
Leads to Narnia. 😁 The guy knows something outside Harry Potter. 👏 The reason why we don’t have built in closets is : we have walls. To be more serious, do you think we should destroy a wall that was built in 1930 (my home) of bricks for a closet? Some UK homes are older. And definitely all the walls are structurally stronger than the weak American ones. Of course there are some modern homes with designed built in solutions to make exceptions. But also the closet itself is a furniture not a cheap one usually.
Electric blankets are great. Turn it on a half hour before getting into bed and it’s toasty warm when you climb in. It also means you can turn the heating down lower overnight, and as long as your furnace is set up on a timer, the house is warm when you get up

Closet is old English for a small room for praying.

@ exactly 👍
Or hot water bottle
@@LoveCats9220 I had an electric blanket when I was in Japan. I'd never seen one before that, though they do exist in the US.
@@TheGeneral_LUFC the hot water bottle works OK but the heat is short-lived.
