- surprise I’m back (BEEN back) in America! I want to address my title of this video because hopefully you understand it’s just silly lil clickbait. BUT if we’re being honest, iPhone usage is one of the main differences I have really noticed between people here in the US and Europe. People in Paris and in Nice were NOT on their phones nearly as much as people are here in the US - I especially noticed people walking around on the streets and sidewalks and beaches with no phones in sight (probably just in their pockets or bags where they should be). And while we were traveling between cities there was a bigger emphasis on reading print media for entertainment - books, newspaper, magazines, etc. When we first got to Nice, I felt like an outsider being on my phone no matter the situation. For example, taking my phone out to wait for my coffee - it felt wrong and I felt like I was being looked at. I felt rude taking my phone out and not paying attention to what was going on around me.
I think traveling to these places made me realize how much I’m on my phone and how much other people are on their phones throughout the day here in the US. I chose this title because although it’s funny, it’s also partially true. I think it’s safe to assume when your culture values education and socialization and history and art - people will be less likely to fall victim to social media algorithm tactics which have proven to lead to many different mental and physical issues. Here in the US we DO value those things (education, culture, socialization, history, art) but not enough compared to how much we value entertainment, politics and social media.
I hope you enjoyed this vlog from my travels to France as much as I did. I hope this inspires you to do something a little different throughout your day if you find yourself feeling down. Thank you for watching and let me know your thoughts!
THANK YOU for watching! ILY

I'm a 64 years old Frenchman. I can tell you that the young generations are ALWAYS on their phones, I see it with my family and friend's kids, difficult to have any sort of conversation with them. The streets in France will soon look like the streets in the US or in Asia. Can't really fight it, it's the way of the modern world. But nice video though 😀
2:42 "Loup-bar" (wolf-bar, or bar of the wolf) is a loose play on words : a loubard (French slang word with a silent "d") meant bad boy from the suburbs who used to often stay in bars to play pinball and drink beer, and in the 70's/80's they used to wear cow-boy style boots, called santiags or bottes gardian (still an existing brand) in France.
French here. Everybody uses they smartphones days and night maybe less than where you are but it's a poison for everybody. I wish you well and hope that you'll come back to visit France.
lovely vlog. I live in the south of france. I agree about the social media and its refreshing that you noticed. If you are on your phone in a shop; you will either be told you won't be served until you put your phone away or glared at. There is a politeness of society here. If you enter a room full of strangers you always greet the room with a polite 'mseur/dame on entry and exit.
nice 'call ne by your name' piano played.
I don't know New England, but there might be some winding cobblestone streets in Boston that look close to 3:33
As for your metaphysical query it's a culture clash with Red-state America who precisely despise French for their cultivated mindset and propensity to defend poors, minorities, weaks and the marginalized
great vlog and different video formats!
Litterally stunning
Literally ilyyyyy
I'm a 48 years old French guy. This was a lesson for you to learn not to spend so much time before your "smartphone", and that should be also for French young persons and even others : nowadays apart from groups of teenagers for who it is quite common, it's not rare to observe sometimes an entire family with each member granting more time to their phone than to each other, quite sad ! ...
But if you really wish it there is definetely something you can change day after day by favoring reading, socializing in the real life, practising sport into Nature and so on.
Anyway sooner or later including for an addict phone person when you become a parent that fabulous experience forces you to take care of your baby, be less selfish, more focus on others needs and get rid of your cell phone bad habits so as to get back to ... real life :) !
The part about "when you become a parent" -- I don't think so. I see, daily, parents out walking their babies while talking or scrolling through the phone. I can understand how stressful life is with both parents working and trying to squeeze in friends, shopping and so on. But the fact is people today take their children for a walk in the stroller, take their dogs for a walk and never put down the phone. Even dogs should have some attention during the walk.
In France you can buy stamps in a bar tabac
Thank you form a montpellierain
Always singling out americans when there's hundreds of other countries in the world. Leave the US alone
Ou la la madame
Americans don't even realize that we are neither smart nor cool.
are you saying that as an american? because I agree, educated is not a term that would match americans, the least fitting actually... but well there are always exceptions
Then why does everyone want to immigrate here?? 🤡
@@bastian9693it's hilarious that you think you nailed with this stupid answer. don't forget the USA in nothing without immigration, oblidged to rely on skilled immigrants
@@bastian9693 Are you aware that Europeans are not Mexicans ?
@@bastian9693They dont!! Not Europeans
Merci
