Good morning Matt. A Classic Fly is a great start for the weekend. Have a great one my friend. Let us know how many fish you get with that Sulfur.
Good morning Matt good morning everyone I like that one a lot and it's simple for me to tie thank you
Good morning Matt Happy Friday. Great pattern for catching fish every where. Thanks for sharing this one. Hope you get out and enjoy some fishing time. Good luck and stay safe my friend.
Good Morning Sir Matt, I've been seeing alot of sulfur color mayflies even here in Texas as of late. I haven't been on the water yet this year but hope to soon. I've been doing alot of cooks (smoked bar b que) a little idea I had is opening up a business called Bar B Que and Flies. People could eat some great food and watch Savage Flies and others on a big screen and even have a fly tying station with guest showing there skills. Have a great weekend Sir Matt 😀 Thank You.
Morning Matt. Love these flies. If you're going to fish it, try a size 12-14 Dun then tie a 12-18" tippet with size 18-20 gnat. Have a blessed day.
Love this pattern, I've been killing it on the river for the last two weeks using this fly. Thanks Matt for sharing
A wonderful & effective fly anytime when light colored flies are around. It’s highly visible which is quite helpful for fishing heavily shaded areas or at dusk.
Nice dry fly Matt, more and more dry flies are going the deer or cdc route now and you rarely see a hackled dry unless it's an old pattern, that's probably due to the cost of a decent cape though. I still prefer the traditional hackled dries myself and I have a few old skool British patterns I would love to see you tie and try over there. Kites imperial, tups indispensable, Greenwells glory and wickhams fancy. Those four should rock your boat with the history and materials used and if you could film yourself collecting the dubbing for the tups it would be a great laugh 😂😂 enjoy your weekend at the farm friend 🙂
Don’t forget the female dry Hendrickson which requires pinkish, urine-stained fur from a female fox. ;-) It’s quite hard to get her to sit still for the haircut.
Very nice. Simple traditional flies are what I love to tie and fish. :-)
Great fish catching fly then, and still now. God bless sir.
Easy peasy. Simple and it works. You’re right, change the color of materials and hook sizes you can cover all sorts of mayflies. Good stuff. Thank you
Great fly in the Smokey's 👍🏻
For this time of the year, definitely yellow. Nice tie Matt, thanks for sharing. Tight lines. 👍
Hey Matt,
Good morning ☕️☕️
I love it, my kind of bug and I hope you can get out to the river👍
Sulfur is a great pattern.love to fish them.great tie matt! Thanks as always
Thanks Matt! This is perfect timing. Sulphurs are active here.
Thanks Matt. i Def need to add some simple dry flies to my box.
Good morning Matt. Just having ☕️and watching your video. I always enjoy watching one of the classics being tied. I hope you get to see it perform on the river this weekend. We are supposed to be getting some much needed rain here this weekend according to the forecast but I’ll believe it when I see it on the ground or in the gauge. Have a great weekend, enjoy your time at the farm and go test some flies on the river. Take care Matt.
Great fly. I fished these and PMD's on Lockwood Gorge on the South Branch of the Raritan during June when I lived in Jersey and fished there.
A favorite of fly-fishers. Before I tied flies my son and I would stop at Shannon's Fly shop in Califon and get a dozen as well as the nymphs. Never failed to get some trout.
Thanks, again, for another great video.
I love these older looking styles of Flys. To me, they represent class and respect. I'm guess the materials & devices that people had in them days, would be a little bit rugged to work with. Yet, they produce these Flys that show respect and integrity. Thanks Matt!
Hi Matt, sulphurs are one of my favorites. Great fly, great tie!
Looking forward to the next
Good morning Matt.Have seen these on other channels but I like yours.I will put a few together today.I would love to see some pictures or even phone vid of your fishing.River creek doesn’t matter, just love to see other trout waters.
another easy pattern for a beginner thanks Matt.
This looks great. I may only have some craft hackle, but think it will do. Thanks a lot for sharing this one
Very nice fly. Totally love the Hackle you used. Great video buddy. Thank you Matt. This is one we all can use and definitely catch fish with.
Sulphurs are a fun time of the year. Just have both the yellowish and orangish shades available in sizes 14 to 18...but if I had to pick one, it would be the creamy in 16.
Great one..I can tie that! Thanks for the lesson on the bugs, always interesting. I’ve learned more knots and entomology in the last 3 years flyfishing than in previous 57 years combined. Appreciate you Matt. Have a great weekend at the farm..get in some fishing time! 🙂👍🎣
Cool looking fly Matt
Looks easy, going to try this one out Thanks for the video Matt
Great dry fly that catches fish most all of summer. Thanks Matt.
Nice
awesome as always matt thanks see ya joe.
Good morning Matt yet another great fly to tie up thank bro I’m gonna make a few of these for the box this weekend!!!
Love this pretty little fly. Thx Matt and have a fabulous weekend!
Love the history & I think even I can tie that one! Enjoy your time at the farm Matt!
Good video 👍 I always enjoy your show
Nice dry fly Matt, I tie a little different and down too size 20 thanks and I hope you get more then few hours to fish!
That should work well around here during the mayfly hatch.
Nice fly Matt 1 of a few color variations that'll end up n my box when I can strt tying again. Keep up the good wrk n video. Thank you n fish on! God Bless!
I do one like that with a Grey body
We have good sulphur hatch's here along with PMD hatch's one of my favs here
Good morning Matt! It may be utilitarian, but still has an elegant look. From the comments I've read, it seems like a really effective pattern. Gonna add some to my box and give them a try!
Ive got Harvey’s book, and have tied his Night Fly.
It’s a pretty neat idea and has some wide application outside of trout fishing.
He was also a pioneer in the use of light rods and leaders, and was pretty much the first to make fly fishing into a textbook endeavor.
He started the first fly fishing classes, and had them in the curriculum of Penn State!
As Gerry Korzi says, “You should pay attention if it comes from a Pennsylvania angler.”
Looking forward to your version of his pusher fly.
David
Nice tie Matt. Thanks for sharing your time and talent! KANSAS
Thank you for sharing Matt, always appreciate you taking your time to educate us. Be blessed my friend.
Nice simple fly Matt. I've been gone camping for a couple of day, not much fishing and then I went racing over the weekend. It was a busy week. Keep the good stuff coming buddy.
Great looking sulphur dun pattern, I will be sure to tie up a bunch of these. Thanks for all the background info and the tie. Good job Matt
Such a great intro - so many patterns are so similar. The techniques you apply can be reused on so many different patterns and represent so many hatches / stages. Thanks Matt!
Thanks Justin! I appreciate this note my friend. (And I agree 100%.) :-)
I like the simple patterns and yes the entomology of the mayfly is a little strange. It is more confusing to me to tie the names of the mayfly to the finished fly used.
You and me both Jim! :-)
A truly great pattern Matt... Fun Fact: The average person collects enough belly button lint to dub a dozen dry flies a year... 🤣 LOL (Don't ask how I know this) 🙂
Have you had a chance to fish with one of those Apache Lady flies you tied a while back? They work really well under an indicator or a hopper with a little drop shot here in Arizonia.
