Combined 1.35 ERA throughout those four games. Some of the most dominant pitching I've seen in quite some time in the postseason.
ShadowBaofu with 40 punch outs by the starters and 2 no hitters going past 6 And 6 total runs in 4 games. Utter dominance. They also dominated a historically great hitting dodger team and the great hitting brewers as well. Yet the media only talks about the Astros rotation....

As an upset Dodger fan, I gotta give it to the Nats this year. Strasburg looked fantastic this entire post-season so far. Sweeping the Cardinals in the NLCS and making it look easy. Congrats Nationals, win it all this year and make the National League proud!

SSJPunchoutkid I agree. But Roberts should’ve taken him out after the first HR. Then Joe Kelly shouldn’t of given up that grand slam, and the rest of the team should’ve been able to get more runs. We definitely can play the blame game, but that time is over. Time to look ahead into the next season. Hopefully the Dodgers can actually do it this time.

The Cardinals deserved every ounce of this for 2012. They didn’t even show up until it was too late. That was a dominant pitching performance by the Nats.
And to think the Nationals were 19-31 at one point to being in a World Series

@Victor Baley that's not true, the Braves went 11-8 against them and they were all after May 24th
Let’s also keep in mind that the Nats’ bullpen was shaky for much of the year and blew 29 saves. With a reliable bullpen the Nationals likely win over 100 games and win the division.

The nats rotation going 7+ innings a night is probably the closest we’ll see to what the white sox did in the 05 ALCS
The cardinals didn’t quit folks, the nationals pitching is really that un touchable. Not to mention that they have two third basemen playing the corners at 1st and 3rd making driving stops as well as scherzer and strasburg catching line drives. St Louis did their best but a more talented team playing like it beat them. Saying an experienced post season unit like St. Louis who beat a great Atlanta team by swinging the bat well does a disservice to the nationals phenomenal pitching staff. I’m so proud of my Nats.

Now the Mariners is the only team that has NOT experienced the World Series... (I can't understand why they could not win the world series in 2001... They wond 116 games in that season)
I definitely love Brian Anderson's way of calling games overall, either with Brewers or in a National level.
Besides Matt Vasgersian, Brian Anderson is definitely one of my favorite announcers. Good voice and good calls.
It felt like the Cardinals were in such shock/joy, and very satisfied with their finish in G5 against the Braves at the start. I doubt they ever expected to host an NLCS at the beginning of the playoffs, and they kind of just enjoyed it too long. The Nats on the other hand just grinded out a tough series win against the Dodgers, and were way too hungry for success to slow it down. They just ate the Cards alive early on and by the time STL started to realize where they went wrong, it was way too late. Glad the Nats got some revenge after that heartbreaking 2012 NLDS loss to the same team.
Congrats Cardinals, your only highlights of this series are breaking up two no-hitters.
As a cardinals fan, this was more like a nationals highlight video. Good season for the cards even better for the Nats congrats to them. Only wonder wtf was up with the hitting approach the entire series.
Not what was wrong with the hitting, but what was right with the pitching. Dominant starts and solid bullpen completely shut down any offense.

Nats went from 19-31 to the World Series...I dont think Ive seen or heard of any team in any pro sport having a run like this. Now if the Nats actually win the WS that would be absolutely incredible. Whoever comes out of the AL will certainly be their toughest challenge of the playoffs though

- Down 3-1 with five outs to live and the bases empty; HBP on a 3-2 pitch hit bat and batter, close enough that a foul call almost certainly would've been upheld
- Down 3-1 with four outs to live and only one on; jammed batter gets a broken-bat bloop single that the CF may well have caught on two good legs, and walk drawn on a high 3-2 pitch 95% of MLB hitters would've chased
- Up 4-3, allowed the tying run on base in the 9th
- The 3rd out sure as fuck didn't look like an off the bat and in the air
NLDS:
- Facing elimination in Game 4, down 1-0 in the 1st
- Down 1-0 in the 2nd, allowed a runner in scoring position with no outs
- Tied as late as one out in the 5th
- Allowed the bases loaded with one out in the 7th; 2nd out had a full count, and the 3rd out AB included a would-be double that was foul by millimeters
- In Game 5, down 2-0 in the 1st
- Down 3-0 in the 6th
- Down 3-1 in the top of the 8th
- Tied in the bottom of the 8th, allowed the go-ahead run on
- Allowed the winning run on in the 9th
- The 2nd out in the 9th is probably a home run in 20 MLB ballparks (and in another five it's a double which either scores the runner or puts him on third, in which case the next batter's out was deep enough to get him in)
World Series:
- Facing elimination in Game 6, down 2-1 in the 1st
- Still down 2-1 in the top of the 5th
- Up 3-2 in the bottom of the 5th, allowed the tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position with one out
- Up 3-2 in the 6th, allowed the tying run on base
- Up 3-2 in the 7th, appeared to have a potential big inning snuffed out by an historically egregious bad call
- In Game 7, down 1-0 in the 2nd, 2-0 (would've been 3-0 if the 3B's glove hadn't gotten just enough of the ball to keep the trail runner at third) in the 5th
- While trailing, ended the bottom of the 2nd (allowed with no outs, and the 3rd out was caught less that a foot off the ground), 3rd (allowed with one out), 4th and 5th with two men on
- With one out in the top of the 7th, down 2-0 and so far had one hit
- Up 3-2 in the 7th, allowed the tying run on base
NLCS:
- Sweep
- Never trailed
- Scored more runs in on inning (7) than they allowed the entire series (6)

It was the Nats pitching that won them the seires, this is a team like the 2011 cardinals who got hit at the right time and won

Well, if anyone who dares to think that either the Astros or the Yankees will win the World Series, then think again because despite having more experience and talent, it won't be translated to a World Series championship. The Nationals are the only ones who are hungrier and more determined than the remaining teams in the postseason.
