First time in a LONG time that from the moment we were officially out of the playoffs, I was rooting for the team that eliminated us. Not "oh this is the one I want out the two teams left". Once the sting of that Game 5 loss fizzled out (this is the 7th consecutive postseason failure, I'm essentially immune to it now) it was all Nats. They were exemplary baseball ambassadors and even better players. No trash talk. No dirty plays. Never overly showboating. Did a lot of it with their own homegrown talent, A paper thin bullpen, a 36-year old, a player not yet old enough to drink, a hometown kid, and a manager that was literally fighting for his life just a few months earlier. Never doubted themselves. Even when the entirety of the sports world outside of their home (state? region?) had given up before they even had a chance to prove their worth. They knew it themselves. And that's all it took.
From this disappointed but eternally hopeful Dodgers fan, Congratulations Washington Nationals. You finished the fight. Enjoy this moment.
I wish there were more fans like you, Muzikrazy213; your remarks are truly classy. It's nice to see someone who gives credit where credit is due, and the Nationals deserve all the credit they receive because they never gave up on themselves despite being the underdogs. We can all learn a lesson in fortitude from them.

As a Dodgers fan I was very disappointed to see my team lose to the Nationals. I believe the Nationals were a team of destiny. They deserved to win the World Series after facing elimination several times. They are a classy team and I'm glad they won!

I’m a Mariners fan so watching the Nats win gave me hope and made me proud. I shed a few tears. I love when underdogs win.
As a Nationals fan I love watching this highlight video. But its also bittersweet considering the turn Strasburg's career has taken since that season.
Even though I am a Braves fan, in retrospect, Nat's win over the Asterisk is one of the most satisfying results ever!

As an Expo's fan since 1975 and going to countless games in Jarry Parc and Stade Olympique, it broke my heart when they moved to Washington! But, I stayed a fan and was finally rewarded with a World Series victory! Allez les Expos! Go Nats Go!
So happy for Scherzer, Strasburg, and the entire Nationals Organization. Many wrote them off after Harper left but they proved they didn't need him to win a title.
Stros fan here...big congrats to the nats and their fans. When Houston won in 2017 it was magical and very hard to describe how it felt and obviously its very hard to capture that moment more than once so cherish it. Would be cool for a rematch next year so good luck :)

A team that started 19-31 through the first 50 games. Getting trounced in the standings by the red hot Atlanta Braves. Finding ways to lose to the Marlins. Then, against those same Marlins, The Nationals would go on a slowly building streak, staying beneath the national radar until the last week or two of the season, as they held the top Wild Card slot, but had no chance to catch Atlanta. They broke Milwaukee's hearts, snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in LA, steamrolled the Cardinals and went toe-to-toe with a team with a "Cyclopsical Advantage" at home, and still managed to make MLB history by winning all 4 games on the road. Watching these guys every night on MASN, listening to Santangelo having spasms he was yelling so much in support of the team. From local media calling for Davey's job, to Davey walking away with the smile of a man who just saw everything he worked so hard for come to fruition. This team stayed together through a horrific start, through adversity over contracts (we will miss you, Rendon!) and even their Manager having heart surgery, to finally give Dave Jagler that call he's always wanted to make. Washington Nationals are the World Series Champs.
