Totally love my M1 MacBook Air. The GPU is really used only for video and photo editing. As for gaming, discovered cloud gaming that is device agnostic. Flawless Cyberpunk 2077 at full resolution on my M1 ala Google Stadia caused my console gaming friends heads to explode. Only platform that seems to be not part of the debacle Cyberpunk is on consoles. Google is also working on Stadia support via Safari on the iOS devices, so soon a platform for all of those. Seems to me that streamed massive banks of GPUs someone else paid for is the future rather than expensive gaming laptops.
@@TalesOfWar Perhaps if it was a stagnant project that had low returns. As several AAA games were released in December with a large slate promised in 2021, it appears that it's not as stagnant as one thought. While a debacle for CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 running great on Stadia had gamers on other platforms taking notice. Bad press for that one gaming companies product was excellent press for Stadia. Now if Google would just push it better with advertising and use the lead to stay ahead of other cloud gaming platforms launching.
@@tonypulido8127 No, I couldn’t find a strong reason to. Nothing that a 16GB model could do that I couldn’t with an 8GB. I know many may have trouble believing that, but SSD swap performance is that good. With AppleCare+ I don’t care if SSD wear is quicker, not my problem.

I do have some regrets not getting the macbook air and going for a 16 inch gaming laptop instead. I mean I'm happy with my purchase, especially since I love gaming, but man; A macbook would've been amazing for most other things I do
The problem for video editing is the SWAP memory, though. :( most people probably won’t find it a disadvantage, but for resellability and value later... it’s tricky if you do a lot of video editing, coloring, effects work or production work :/
The point is: If you need computing power but want a small and light laptop, go for cloud computing. Beats every mac and windows easily. Depending on the Cloud you may pay a lot and maybe more. But just connect to your homelab ;)
Correct me if I'm wrong but Apple M1 macbooks are hard to beat in ultrabook department in regards to gaming performance if you consider 1000 USD price point. I couldn't find a windows ultrabook for 1000 USD that would perform better in gaming than a base Macbook Air M1.
I wish that I bagged a Stealth during the Black Friday sales, the early 2020 model Stealth was going for £899 on ebuyer for a few weeks. I ended up getting the 2070rtx base model for £1,399 in the January sales.
The good thing about the MacBook Air not having a fan is that it won’t get dust inside it. So 1 you don’t have to clean it after your performance drops from dust. And 2 it will last longer.

Wanna know an interesting fact, laptops are actually an item (or tech in general) which price haven't increased over time, it has in general gotten cheaper. An entery level iBook from 2000 cost 1299 USD
I absolutely despise Apple as a company but holy fuck have they absolutely LEVELED the playing field for budget laptops. For $899 (student pricing for August) you get a laptop that’ll last forever, has amazing build quality, and lasted me 3.5 DAYS without a charge. Blew my mind coming from a mid 2015 MBP 15 and using my girl’s Blade 15. For the first time ever you can buy a base laptop and be set. That stupid little laptop has taken the place of my $6k custom build (R9 5900x, 3090, 64gb ram) for everything except gaming. It’s been a week so far of ownership and I’m still blown away. Only thing I’d like is MagSafe charging AND ON TOP OF THAT WITH AN APPLE CARD YOU CAN GET THEM WITH INTEREST FREE PAYMENTS. Now THATS what I call integration
Seems like since you keep talking about price, a much more reasonable comparison would be if the Mac also had 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD. Still not sure what "holes" you are trying to fill in the Mac that only the Razor can fill. Dell XPS-13 maybe?
Hey Gary, can you compare M1 macbook pro 13 vs Asus G14 5900 ? it is gaming laptop but it looks like it can do the job as workstation, may be even faster?
0:54 Ehm ... the answer is no. BUT! As someone who's looking to get a new laptop without really knowing what I'm doing, I appreciate the straight forward nature of this video, since I feel like a lot of people make overly complicated arguments and go on random tangents about peripheral nonsense. Thus! Appreciated!
Macs have always warranted a reserved recommendation, because they've always been very fast and well optimized, BUT very expensive. I don't think people realize how much M1 is changing the game. There's virtually no compromise, except if you really hate Apple products or really need some special PC feature
It really is an impressive laptop. I've even been able to play FFXIV on it with no issues. Laptop barely gets hot and is completely silent and everything is just buttery smooth on the OS. No complaints so far. That M1 chip is ridiculous.
I love my iPhone and my Apple Watch iPad etc but that razer stealth is just miles better than the MacBook Air. For a laptop I use an old acer Predator 300 with an i58300h and a 1050ti graphics card. It’s outdated now but still runs everything you throw at it. If I was to upgrade I’d easily chose the Razer stealth over the MacBook
The lack of those specialised encoders that are standard from the 1660 Ti and up to RTX is what holds the Razer back. Get the G14 with the QHD display and RTX 2060 and it is an absolute beast despite being only 300g heavier than the MacBook Air and with HDMI and USB-A as well. Hopefully there will be a mid-level 30 series card to banish these old 1650s from thin and light laptops like this and the ConceptD 3.
Have the MBA M1 now and people don't understand how quiet this thing is. I game on it and it makes zero noise. Gone are the days of noisy ass laptops with their fans spinning at 100 mph.
In theory we can buy refurbished Razer Stealth for 1000$. Put Arch or Fedora, to replicate Mac OS. And dual boot Windows for games... But I don't know. Maybe Everyday Dad should try install Linux on Razer and try live with it. That would be a great experience. I think...
Windows laptops: bring your bulky charger with you if you want advertised performance and decent battery life, bring noise canceling headphones when pushing temperatures, bring a mouse
READ THIS dell laptops or windows laptops in general are such a pain in the aassss. the main issue i have with them is the S0 sleep mode where the laptop never really goes to sleep therefore sometimes youll find your laptop scorching hot in your bag, sometimes the battery would be dead, or windows would be updating. you can see how uneasy that would make you feel when youre using this for work or school. dell and windows recommends shutting down the laptop before placing it in your bag but it defeats the whole idea of a laptop. its so infuriating!!!! genuinely feel duped and its irritating me that no one really brings up this issue. i wouldnt mind shutting down as much if windows didnt need to go through a set up process upon initial start up that consumes at least 5% of battery in 10 min. my advice, if you dont need windows OS or a specific hardware, get a mac as your laptop.
I feel like this is slightly dishonest regarding the pricing. Yes, the M1 Macbook Air is $800 less than the Razer Blade Stealth 13, however, factor in that the blade has better cooling (as in it actually has cooling), more storage, and more RAM, and the fairer comparasson would be to the M1 Macbook Pro. If you go to Apple's website right now and configure a M1 Macbook Pro with a 512GB SSD and 16GB of RAM (so that the specifications are actually matched), it comes out to $1,699 (only $100 less than the Blade Stealth 13).

@@burstingsanta2710 that is not the same class as ultrabooks with the likes of apple, hp, and dell are manufacturing, it doesn’t even support windows precision driver on it’s trackpad, so, logically it will be cheaper.

Considering this, would it make more sense to wait for the MX1 to be released or I have no problem if I order the current M1? Thank you for your opinion !
M1 is perfectly capable of editing 4K video, I think is better if you get the MacBook Air with more storage than the pro, however something really important is what software you will put on it, remember most of the apps run by emulation and this have a toll and also glitches, if you wait till next generation very likely most of applications will be ported and most of the issues solved but if you need a new laptop right now M1 MacBooks are great.

it seems you did not use nvidia nvenc when rendering. try with resolve studio or handbrake video transcoder with nvenc enabled, and nvidia power saving disabled ;-) this will speed up render time a lot on the razer. obviously, getting 6fps it did not render with dedicated graphics
I have the razer 2019 advanced model 2070 max q, 512 GB SSD 32GB RAM . Which originall was half the specs. I like razer / windows laptops cause we can always upgrade .

Its strange ... but I consider the first time to buy an Apple Product but for Gaming... I play usually games like Rimworld Sc2 and not as new titles most times and hope they will work on Mac os... but i would first wait for the M1X it should be even more of a jump ... i hope the pricing will not get over 1800 Euros since this is to expensiv... there are some downsides I need to pay .. when using a Macbook.. but i think this new processors do make it worth the switch .. How is this machine? I’ve been looking at the MBP 14 M1pro for video editing, but I’m worried about swap usage.
How is your swap?
i’ve seen the M1 Macbook Air used for gaming, but would you consider it a good laptop for gaming?
The price comparison isn't fair as base macbook air has 8 GB memory and 256GB SSD in contrast to razor blades 16 GB memory and 512GB SSD
Apart from storage no one gives 2 shits if it’s 16GB ram if it loses to 8gb.
The bigger picture is about the silicon. We are not talking about RAM. The comparison is between CPU not RAM. Bruh......
@@BobBob-tt3fe 8gb performs faster than 16gb doesn’t mean it can handle the same workloads as 16gb, it’s faster since M1 chip has ram integrated with the chip. You often cannot upgrade your laptop’s ram after buying
Yes, but can the Mac run the large stable of viruses available on the Windows machine?
No mac hace their own virus, invisible non reported so mac user can live with no fear. Shhhhhh
@@Teluric2 umm bro?

Totally love my M1 MacBook Air. The GPU is really used only for video and photo editing. As for gaming, discovered cloud gaming that is device agnostic. Flawless Cyberpunk 2077 at full resolution on my M1 ala Google Stadia caused my console gaming friends heads to explode. Only platform that seems to be not part of the debacle Cyberpunk is on consoles. Google is also working on Stadia support via Safari on the iOS devices, so soon a platform for all of those. Seems to me that streamed massive banks of GPUs someone else paid for is the future rather than expensive gaming laptops.
how do you get this cloud gaming for Mac?
Give it a year before they get bored and kill it. It's the Google Way®.
Did you go with a maxed out MacBook Air? 16gb of ram?
@@tonypulido8127 No, I couldn’t find a strong reason to. Nothing that a 16GB model could do that I couldn’t with an 8GB. I know many may have trouble believing that, but SSD swap performance is that good. With AppleCare+ I don’t care if SSD wear is quicker, not my problem.
Your content is very informative and engaging. Keep up the great work. Hope your channel hits a million subscribers soon. Have a happy and prosperous new year :)
I do have some regrets not getting the macbook air and going for a 16 inch gaming laptop instead. I mean I'm happy with my purchase, especially since I love gaming, but man; A macbook would've been amazing for most other things I do
What should I get if they are the same price ?
Can u use a MacBook air m1 to game gta v csgo and youtbe and netflix or should i Get a spesifikke gaming computer
Love your content man . You helped me choose multiple Sony cameras . Keep at it dude
Which os reliable I'm confused , buying MacBook Air M1 is good choice ???
You can't run windows on it
If that's not your requirement, go with the ASi Mac
If you can, wait for the second gen ASi Macs
What type of desk do you have?

I wont be getting a mac for normal use but for gaming but should i get it for something like csgo?
My M1 Macbook Pro (16gb ram/512gb ssd) is my favorite piece of technology I've ever owned. It's just so damn good!
Do you edit video and photos on it?
I’m also looking at this configuration.
I’m worried about swap usage, how has yours been?
@@2392youngmoney I've had this computer for well over a year now...and it's still the best running computer I've ever had. I love this thing! I've had no issues with it at all so far.
I don't do anything with photos, but I have done some video editing with a program called DaVinci Resolve and it's an absolute pleasure to do so! My MacBook runs awesome with that program and it's pretty intensive stuff!
I've been nothing but impressed with my MacBook and can absolutely recommend getting one if you can!

Only thing I’d like is MagSafe charging
AND ON TOP OF THAT WITH AN APPLE CARD YOU CAN GET THEM WITH INTEREST FREE PAYMENTS. Now THATS what I call integration
I'll be using the computer for 3D design applications, which tend to be single-core operations. Because of this, the quad-core is an advantage for me.
I love gaming but the budget of razer is just too much ! Any chance m1 gaming will include past rts games ?
Seems like since you keep talking about price, a much more reasonable comparison would be if the Mac also had 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD. Still not sure what "holes" you are trying to fill in the Mac that only the Razor can fill. Dell XPS-13 maybe?
Yeah XPS 13 kind of sort of fills the gap. But it's basically just like another overpriced Intel Mac.
Hey Gary, can you compare M1 macbook pro 13 vs Asus G14 5900 ? it is gaming laptop but it looks like it can do the job as workstation, may be even faster?
Macbook *Air*
Apple : no fan
You can play the Witcher 3 on the MacBook with GeForce now
0:54 Ehm ... the answer is no.
One day, hopefully soon, we’ll all look back and wonder, “Why did we ever accept loud, jet engine fans in our computers?”
I never thought there would be the time where Apple was seen as the cheaper and better option
What games are you playing?
Why noone mentions short ends of m1? No 90hz+ support, no dedicated gpu, no multiple externall 4k monitors, small IO, slow usb ports
Dedicated video for da Vinci resolve for macbook air as only video editing computer.

dell laptops or windows laptops in general are such a pain in the aassss. the main issue i have with them is the S0 sleep mode where the laptop never really goes to sleep therefore sometimes youll find your laptop scorching hot in your bag, sometimes the battery would be dead, or windows would be updating. you can see how uneasy that would make you feel when youre using this for work or school. dell and windows recommends shutting down the laptop before placing it in your bag but it defeats the whole idea of a laptop. its so infuriating!!!! genuinely feel duped and its irritating me that no one really brings up this issue. i wouldnt mind shutting down as much if windows didnt need to go through a set up process upon initial start up that consumes at least 5% of battery in 10 min. my advice, if you dont need windows OS or a specific hardware, get a mac as your laptop.
True !
Crazy how tables have turned....
I don’t know why people still argue that Macs are overpriced when literally all windows laptop that are in the same class all are literally double Macs price. If you want to talk about overprice laptop just look at XPS 🤦🏻♂️
Go and see mi horizon book 14
@@burstingsanta2710 that is not the same class as ultrabooks with the likes of apple, hp, and dell are manufacturing, it doesn’t even support windows precision driver on it’s trackpad, so, logically it will be cheaper.
But Macs have been overpriced though. Up until this M1 version you could get way better performance out of the majority of Windows laptops vs Macs running the same Intel CPU nvm versus a laptop running Ryzen. The M1 chip is impressive and the first time Apple has offered better performance for the price. Impressive to say the least....Yet, Your comment just doesn't make sense.
@@Scratch2C I'm talking about the current situation where people still argue that Macs are overpriced whereas when compared to the current generation of the likes of XPS and Razer blade line, Macs are litterally way way below the price of those machines.
hey, would you ever consider reviewing the m1 against the razer book 13? i think its a bit more apt comparison as both are fairly light productivity oriented laptops
Suggestion: Do a FCPX edit walkthrough while commenting on the performance of M1 in real time (stabilization, tracking, etc. functions)
Think you are incorrect that M1 Macbooks are thunderbolt 3... They are USB 4/Thunderbolt 4 - They just didn't market it as thunderbolt 4 since Intel has a trademark on it.
Apple outside of the U.S is even more expensive..
Yes but usually cheaper with no taxes from outside US
@@taylorbear5018 ?
@@daviid27. apple is more expensive outside the USA, but in USA you have to add 10% to every purchase for taxes. In many other countries the tax is way lower or none at all, so price is around the same
@@taylorbear5018 yea no.. Here we have 23% tax and if you take that value the product is still usually more expensive than in the us.

I use the M! MacBook Pro and I've used plenty of windows laptops as well as intel Macs and Ive got to say the M1 chip in these machines have really blown my mind especially having the base model of the MacBook. I have played some games on this MacBook and the results are amazing! me myself I use a laptop to play the good old sims games and let me tell you both Sims 4 and the most difficult to run Sims 3 runs so so smoothly with the graphics all set to high automatically never has a windows laptop done that even with a good graphics card, the MacBook doesn't even get hot to touch. I am very happy not going back to windows 😂😂
Yes! The “M!” Chip is very good.
Very revolutionary “M!” Chip
What ram do you have on your MacBook and what is the swap usage?
This is my only concern
I wish I could keep using Mac but I need a windows machine for excel in finance classes
Buy the M1 and you could literally use the left over cash to buy all the parts to build a decent gaming PC. RTX 3060 (when it's properly priced at $399), then buy all the parts off of eBay (bare bones Ryzen systems with 16gb ram can be had with case & PSU for $400)
Can you help me guys please.... I am not very familiar with computers. I want to get the new Macbook pro 13 M1. I want to use it for 4k video editing (go pro hero 9 / mavic air 2).
How do you come up with ALL these great ideas for all these great videos??? 👍👍👍👌👌👌
Should you buy a new apple pencil ? Let's find out!
i've been using razer blade stealth 2020 with 10th gen intel for about a year now. this thing has become resistant to smudges lol. i stopped caring about smudges at some point and now it doesn't get smudges anymore, unless you look closely, you can notice a few here and there.
Do you do any video/photo editing on it?
it seems you did not use nvidia nvenc when rendering. try with resolve studio or handbrake video transcoder with nvenc enabled, and nvidia power saving disabled ;-) this will speed up render time a lot on the razer. obviously, getting 6fps it did not render with dedicated graphics
I have the razer 2019 advanced model 2070 max q, 512 GB SSD 32GB RAM . Which originall was half the specs. I like razer / windows laptops cause we can always upgrade .

but seriously I need some decent usb c hubs I'm scared to try any unknow name brands
if you're a casual user trust me you can go with anyone you find reasonably priced, as you won't be using them much.
If you're a professional then you definitely know what you want so please ignore my comment.
Anker has been trouble free for me. I have the type that clicks into the two ports on the Air. Gives me USB A x 2 , USB C x 2, HDMI, SD/Micro SD
Green Cell products are amazing. I also heard good things about Anker.
I love that i now don't need the switch to play the games which are better on pc .. ^^
I love that I usually play less graphix more cpu intense games ^^

Nope, unfortunately it doesn't. It has USB 4 not thunderbolt 4. Two totally different things.
@@TheEverydayDad oh man, that’s super confusing! Apple just marks it as “Thunderbolt / USB 4” on their website so I assumed the 4 was for both technologies. Thanks for the explanation!
