Just come across your video as I'm planning to use flowpoint on a patio. Tbf that was an excellent easy to follow on how to use it . Well done will be following your channel.
Been following you all the way through matipo and now this. I’ve commented before about not being overly keen on the newer style of editing but this video is absolutely bang on for me. Informative and precise. Never used flowpoint but have always wanted to give it a go but have been worried about staining
Thanks mate..totally get where your coming from..wasn't in the best place n just wanted to have fun.. back to normal now. Expect this sort of content going forward..cobble how to is next👌⚒
I've laid my first setts (setts/cobbles? everyone seems to disagree which is which!) after watching your videos, Flowpoint should arrive today, wish me luck!
Ah nice one mate!! Maybe try a half bag to start..you'll get the knack in no time👌⚒ Leave a comment here or reach out on insta if you've got any questions 👍👍
Hi George. Used Flowpoint smooth charcoal on black limestone setts today! I use it in small amounts so I will weigh off 5kg and mix with 850ml of water. I use the sponge off method and this works for me. My small projects never have anyway for the rince off water to go so sponging is my preferred method.
That's a great method! 🙌⚒️ we have done the sponge off method before..all depends on the type and size of the site your working on..bet the project looks awesome! 🙌⚒️
Driveway entrance looks great mate very unique 👌I nearly got caught out flowpointing my latest project golden granite slabs it seemed to grip to it and water rise to top never had that before made me work like crazy in the heat 😅
Thank you very much mate!! Had a close one myself today in this heat 😂 defo not the best idea during a great wake for sure..went off mad quick.. saved it with some flowpoint ninja skills 😂⚒👌
hi mate thanks for the video very informative well done . i am about to finish my front with indian sand stone rajblend how many bags do you recon i should buy the joints vary between 10 to 20 mm the area is about 40m2.
I have a row of 6 setts to do at the front of the entrance to the driveway and was wondering about pointing setts. I havent done flowpoint but thought best way so i arrived here. Looks like a fairly straightforward process but i know what im like at concreting rushing around like a blue arsed fly so can imagine ill be panicking when applying flow point. Ill be doing it though. Great informative video. Thanks
I’ve started using sealers before I use flowpoint now. Get about 15m2 from a bag when jointing regular sandstone mix size kits. Makes cleaning off and spreading it out way way easier, especially in summer when you’ve got 10 mins before it’s setting.
@@richwallwinhi, does sealing the patio help prevent the grout from sticking to the surface, If so does this affect the adhesion of the grout in the joints?
Great vid’ George. Worrying process. I suppose it’s too late now, but I would have loved a time lapse of you tying the whole area (the whole job) together. Great content as always George.
Thank you very much! Defo a bit stressful, especially with this heat we've had..but a bag at a time or half bag is usually pretty safe.. got a couple of Time-lapse vids, but will defo do a full project vid once we are finished..got a wee bit more to do yet..just waiting on other trades to leave site first 👌👌⚒
Great vid George. Ive currently got a paving stone patio that I need to clean and sand at least twice a year. Was thinking of using flowpoint to permanently fill the gaps between the stones to save having to sand and keep weeds away, but worried the stones be may too close together? what do you think?
Thank you very much! How tight are the joins? There is a product called flowpoint fine that's suitable for tighter joints.. and it will definately ensure no weed growth..its bombproof this stuff!
Hi George, binge watching your videos, love your work! Can you tell me where you source your cobbles? I've had a look online and can't find any that has the depth of colour as the ones you use. Do you use different types to get the variety of colours? Cheers
Hi do you think I could use ths on paving slabs but I have not got a very wide gap ,the slabs was already here ,the gaps are about as wide as a motor raker ? Thanks colin 👍
Great video, quick question I want to lay some cobbles on my driveway what ratio of sand and cement would I need 2 park a car on it? And what type of mix I.E semi dry or wet and what deep what the sand and cement mix need 2 be o to of the hardcore? Cheers
Hi! We will have a cobble how to video out in the next couple of weeks, keep yah eyes peeled for that one.. but we go for a 4:1 mix..2 sharp sand, 2 stone dust, 1 cement.. mix semi dry.. aim for a minimum of 50mm bed for a driveway and a minimum of 170mm hard-core.. hope that helps!👍👍⚒
I've recently had a patio done using flowpoint a the joint filler. I think it must be flowpoint rough as it is quite grainy. Some of the joints are a little bit dusty where it doesn't seem to have set properly. Can I just add more flowpoint to these small patches?
Hi, Thanks for the interesting and very nice content. Quick question if you would allow: is there any possibility to choose the color of the joint, let's say in RAL 7039 or there is no way to have it in another color? In advance, many thanks!
I absolutely 💯 love watching all of this being done but I do not understand how it works at all. I don't understand how the bits in the joints cures up hard enough but the bits on top of the bricks doesn't so you can wash it away? The bit on top of the bricks is a lot thinner then the bits in the joints so you would think that it would cure up way before the bits in the joints and thus making it impossible to simply rinse off. This stuff is scientific magic in my eyes. Just so fascinating 🤗🤗🤗
The cement in the flow point is denser than water so it sinks into the joint and can cure.. leaving the more watery mix to sit on the surface..by keeping it moving and misting the surface it allows the joints to cure, leaving the surface still liquid... I'm no scientist 😂😂 but that's how I understand that it works 🤷♂️ it is incredible stuff for sure!
It's serious stuff, I only use this now and portec fir porcelain slabs. I'd be nervy trying it for the first time on a hot day though for any newbies. I probably wouldn't advise actually!
Brilliant vid man, there`s some proper idiots posting `How To` stuff..........yours has to be one of the best i`ve ever seen. Will be looking out for your others..........
First timers, don't be tempted to do it on a hot day. It goes off too quick and you hardly have time to get it out of the bucket. The timing of washing it off is critical. It helps if theres two of you as it sets quickly ( at 20c ) A paddle mixer that fits onto an electric drill worked for me but only just up to the job. If you damp it down whilst working it, it can lead to a weaker mix and lighter colour. I'm a diy er and although my last attempt was better, (on a cooler day), it's a risky job for a novice.
Would anyone be able to answer the following questions about this product.. Is it suitable to use when just re-pointing? From the video looks pretty simple to use, however I'm just an amateur at this so can it go wrong?
I've just had a patio completed and the builder has used flowpoint. I've noticed your comment about sealing. Mine is a sandstone patio. Should this have applied to them? Can I do this now straight after though I understand sealing them first would protect the slabs. Thanks
Can you brush it with muriatic and pressure wash after it’s set, before sealing? I’m looking to use more of a porous stone, and it’ll need to be cleaned
I had about 30 sq meters of porcelain slabs laid and I expressly asked my contractor to use Flowpoint on the joints ... But instead, he used Sika brush in which is basically sand and it never goes off hard, that was 4 years ago and now I am having to rip it up and start again as it looks such a mess a very costly poor choice of contractor, for everyone contractor like you there are 10 chancers who just do a shit job.
Never used it myself but i need to, i just see alot of stories about people going back due to efflorescence and it changing colour for some reason 🤷♂️. I have been using gftk which is good but very expensive
Heard great things about gftk too.. we've started using a haze remover after the flowpoint if there is any efflorescence..it does sort itself out on its own though over a wee bit of time..
