Gentaro is more interested in women than in men, even among humans.

Father MOMOTARO ♂(2000/7/3)
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
MOMOTARO's father is BIJU.
MOMOTARO's mother is MOMOKO
Mother GENKI ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAKK.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

Handsome Gentaro...so big and strong. Love how he has the same shoulders as Momotaro. Kintaro, too, is getting big, and has a little crest of hair forming at the back of his head. I can't help but laugh, though, when I see him carrying around that broken red ball.

Gintaro was raised by humans early on, so I wonder if that's a factor? He just feels more comfortable around them?

I have a question. Do all males mature into silver backs? I've heard of " black backs", males who don't evolve into "silver backs".
I'm curious to know why, or why not? Thanks for the show!
Adolescent male gorillas are called black backs. As they mature to adulthood at around age 14, they become silverbacks due to their change in back color. All adult male gorillas will become silverbacks unless they have been castrated.
I do a google search for a lot of different questions I have. Google is not always the best place to find information, but so far I've found that it's a pretty good place overall to do a search though.
They all do unless they've been neutered, in which case they get the size of a silverback but not the muscles
Thankfully that practice is not as common as it used to be, the point of having gorillas in zoos is for conservation, we need more of them as they are quickly disappearing in the wild
But yes, a male gorilla will always turn into a silveback. Sometimes earlier, sometimes later but usually at around 10 or 11 years old
All males eventually become a silverback unless they have been neutered as the first reply said. "Blackback" is just a term for an adolescent male who is undergoing the transformation into a silverback kinda like puberty in humans

All of them can not always have their own family.
Castrated male gorillas are surely unable to be adult male gorillas.

Kintaro was wearing that ball as a “hat” in a recent video lolol I had to laugh.
Desde que tenia 8 o 9 años,ya le gustaban las jovencitas de 14 y 15 años.Se ponia contento,cuando las veia a traves del cristal.Le entraba nervios y,tambien tocaba el cristal.Esta hecho un playboy 😂.Cuando lo coges con la camara de cerca,está muy guapo y se le nota que le ha crecido el músculo de la cabeza.
Kintaro con la pelota en la boca,me recuerda a,mi perra cuando le doy su juguete.Esta gracioso,con lo que le queda de la pelota.Hasta que no le quede nada de goma,no la deja😅.

Ryan, I have a Serious Question for you? Who Grooms these Beautiful Animals? They always look clean, Shiny and Matte free fur and Beautiful Fingernails and Toenails that are always so short and clean?
👍🏽 Agree. I don’t know that this troop receives any sort of **Special Grooming**, but I do know from watching previous Videos that MOMOTARO has had his Magnificent feet massaged with Olive OiL to protect them from dryness and cracking.
I rarely see them grooming each other. In general , they do it themselves. Once in a while, a gorilla grooms other gorilla, though.
I notice Kintaro is becoming increasingly wary of Momo. I haven't seen any incidents, but wonder if there are some while the cameras aren't rolling.
Também reparei que ele está receoso com Momotaro e Gentaro, infelizmente imagino porque, mesmo a maioria quetendo negar, ou tentar normalizar, se não é normal na sociedade dos gorilas, Shabani pode brigar, mas trata seus filhos com respeito.
Meus dois amores Kintaro e Genki, eu assisto e o que vejo é toda a família entediada e triste, não se vê melhorias, não tem nada que estimule os gorilas dessa família, é claro que Gentaro está infeliz, o que está acontecendo com ele não é um processo natural, o normal é ter uma fêmea e formar uma família, Kintaro parece muotas vezes apático, ele que é um garoto com uma disposição de um atleta, fico.preocupada quando Kintaro chegar na idade de arranjar uma família, porque ainda não tem planejamento, eu sofro olhando essa família, porque comecei amar os gorilas por causa da Genki e do Kintaro, e vejo muitas vezes Kintaro acuado, como se tivesse alguma coisa que não podemos saber e ver, estou chateada com a falta de planejamento, não é justo com a família ❤

There have been MANY concerned Comments made to Ryan especially concerning Gorgeous GENTARO 🥰 about the Lack of Space for him at this zoo, and that there seems to be NO PLAN in pLace to partner him soon with a Wife. To date, there’s not been much information released from zoo Officials concerning what their Next Move is for Gentaro. So, we just Hope and Pray 🙏🏽 for the Best. We LOVE HIM 🤗💋💙🦋🌺 along with the entire Momotaro Troop.

@ just how different they are from humans in this way. Humans dont try to prevent their family from eating but i see many silverbacks in captivity all around the world doing this. They always put themselves first

Gentaro looks so sad,he needs a girlfriend badly sad,that the Momentaro family has to suffer so much, just so we can go the zoo to see them,as much as I love gorillas,I wish never to see a gorilla again if they could all back to the wild,it is getting to me watching this family.I use to like watching them more, when Gentaro and Kintaro would play and mom took better care of Kintaro, but they all seem to be depressed all the he time, that place is so small, what if we were in a place like that and we were stared at,by beings that we didn't understand, everyday of our lives, and never having a social life, never going nowhere, like jail,we would be in a bad mood too.
