Hi Cosmic, to show emotion is a strength..
    Marko is a storyteller..
his voice can sound like a beast or a wise and gentle sage.
Nightwishs' songs are like mini musicals..each transports you to another world. Everytime l hear this song l can almost smell and taste the ocean...and when Troy comes in its like a lonely cry of a seagull.
Any Nightwish fan can vouch that we have all shed a tear believe me! Enjoy your reactions..you have a bueatiful soul Cosmic..
    Take care! 🤗

I get tears from so many Nightwish songs for so many reasons. No shame in it. Music is the key to unlocking emotional blockages, expressing joy; grief; love; anger; emotional truth, etc.
Music is magic for the soul!

No worries Cosmic. We all shed some tears over the emotional soundscapes created by Nightwish. Floor is not the only voice in Nightwish. Marko is so special as well. He had a big part in the composition of this song. he is a natural storyteller. I could hear him on a warm summer night with full moon overhead singing his heart out sitting by a fireside with a group of friends. Just Marko and an acoustic guitar and a rapt, emotionally invested, and captive audience.

Back in the day NW made a video of this song, with Anette. I am not a fan of hers but this song fits her voice perfectly. And they also made a video "Making of the Islander", filmed in Finnish Lapland, very interesting. Have a nice weekend and greetings from The Netherlands!

Hello again, Cosmic. Our beloved Nightwish has brought me to tears many times, sometimes tears of pure joy at the beauty of the music, and sometimes for the sense of sadness some of Tuomas's beautiful compositions bring out. Marko's terrific performance here was perfect, and supplemented by the band and Floor coming in so delicately behind him just kicks in the emotion of this wonderful sea chanty. Wistful and remorseful, simultaneously. Absolutely beautiful reaction. Thank you. I also recommend one of my other Marko lead favorites, While Your Lips Are Still Red, live at Wembley 2015. From Marko's opening introduction of the song to the crowd, throughout this wonderfully messaged song, it is delicate and beautiful. Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/5V7PKv493Ic/видео.html

Btw, wanna see what Marko does with his hands when without bass/guitar? Watch Waltari ft. Marko Hietala, Below Zero (documentary video), it is so fun to see - and his singing is, well, it is Marko. No one does it better.

Well, that's Nightwish for ya,... and it's "army", we ARE here for the emotions, because that is exactly what Nightwish does for all of us.
It's safe to say, nobody from the NW fanbase will make fun of anyone who experiences emotions in music, we all have that here, it's one of the combining factors even.
And lets face it, the voice of Marko is amazing, Floor is amazing, but together... they blend so amazingly well, having literal crossover points where they become one voice.
Those two harmonizing together, are magical to me in how they can transport you into their story and world of mystery, disconnecting you from the real world for a few moments.

Nightwish music is about feeling emotions and feeling life.

  • @Bunny99s
    @Bunny99s 11 месяцев назад +1

Always keep in mind: Music is ONLY about emotions. Every one may react different to certain pieces of music but in the end what makes music music is when it evokes emotions. It could be the lyrics, the melody, the sound of an instrument, whatever. In many cases it somehow connects with some of your personal memories. For example listening to "The Greatest Show on Earth" for the first time sends shivers down my spine when I realised what it actually was about. So for me it was mainly about the topic / lyrics. When I discovered the connection with Richard Dawkins it just amplified that feeling. Up to this day TGSOE gets me close to that initial feeling. It's imprinted in my memory.
That's the beauty of music. Everybody reacts different with their personal experience, knowledge and attitude. I had some key moments with Nightwish music in the early 2000. At that time I was attending lan parties, playing CS, Quake and other stuff. We had a medium sized lan community of about 120 ppl and were meeting about twice a year. During that time many quake related videos came out and more or less exposed me to more Nightwish. Songs like Wishmaster or Dark Chest of Wonders were just perfect fits for those videos. So certain songs I immediately connect with that time. Of course everybody has different experiences.
I always listened to more or less classical rock and metal. Though my older sister introduced me to other things like Nirvana, Rage against the Machine, Porcupine Tree and many more. My dad made me appreciate more of the jazz / progressive spectrum (Yes, Weather Report, Don Ellis, Brand X, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Manfred Mann,....). My mum was more into salsa, reggae and pop (Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, ...), my aunt was into Fleetwood mac, Genesis, Loreena McKennitt and lately Joe Bonnamassa. My uncle was into Animals / Eric Burdon, Mark Knopfler, Mike Oldfield, The Boxtops, Moody Blues, ...
All those shaped my own taste in music. So never be ashamed of what you like. It's your personality and you don't have to be conform to some ideal. If others have issues with that, it's a their-problem :)
    Keep rocking.

Never, ever, be embarrassed by tearing up over any song, Nightwish, or not. If it affects you emotionally, then it is right and good that you express that emotion. This song gets me every time. The video is as close to perfect as any music video can be. Marko's voice is unique. He has the power to dig deep, and pull out whatever emotion he is expressing at the time, in himself, and in us. I think it is the very humanity of it, reflecting a life lived, with all the good, and bad, parts. It's not perfect, but hearing him sing reminds us that is OK, that none of us are perfect either, yet we all have immense value. I am so glad that he, and the entire Nightwish family, came into my life, late as it may be compared to some who have known them for years. They are the most meaningful band that I have ever heard.

And we especially like to see our favorite bands making people cry. It feels like a compliment I feel honored to accept in the name of musicians we love so much. And this song... It's on my funeral list. I might not be there after I die, but I at least want my loved ones to have a beautiful soundtrack to remember me. It sure helped me after my cousin died. It's every reason I became a musician. It counts as infinite reasons. We all need to feel and to be able to express it. If music helps you to do it, do it, and anyone in the world who shames you for showing it should yeet themselves into space. The song brought out your emotions. Hell yeah

Marko's voice mixed with Floor's one... always emotionnal, whatever the way this emotion takes to go through our mind. This "almost" seashanty is very significant and moving, without being gaudy.
As for being emotionnal, I like Dead's boy poem from Nightwish too, as for being significant and moving, I like The greatest show on Earth

Greetings from the senior division of the Nightwish army! I'm a 69-year-old guy who discovered Nightwish a couple of years ago and who still has the kinds of emotional reactions you express, even after listening to the same song a dozen times. In 60 years of listening to popular music of all genres, I've never experienced these sorts of reactions to music.

Hey Cosmic, you cannot stop what is coming.
I learned early on that this band......
    Jukka/Kai
    Marko
    Emppu
    Tuomas
    Troy
    and Floor
came together to touch our souls in every way possible and it is perfect!
I tend to say I get emotional when I hear perfect music. As a former musician, I used to write and record my own songs but I never felt anything listening back when they were being burned to CD.
But when I recorded "Time Stops For No One", and finally listened to the finished song.... that song was so perfect in every way that by the time the first chorus ended, I was in tears.
And now it happens with almost every song with this band, those 6 masters of music I mentioned.
Even when I was at the concert in NYC, I was so happy just to be there seeing them in person. And when they played Élan, as happy as I was, I was crying from how beautiful that song sounded....
    Even live!!
    I get you bro.
Never apologize for sharing your feelings, even if it is by crying.
You are not the only one and certainly won't be the last, I promise you that.
In fact, listen to it again and cry your ass off!! We all need that every now and then.
Thank you for sharing your feelings, the video, reaction and comments. Stay safe and stay blessed.
    😊❤️🤘🤘

I never cried when my dad died, I never cried when my children were born but I have cried many a time to numerous nightwish songs. It's weird as some songs seem to bring emotions out you didnt know you had, which I am glad abouit as it makes me feel more human.

I have a whole playlist of songs that I call "Don't listen to this in public" for the songs that just hit me in exactly the right place and make me pretty weepy, and when I just need to be awash in my emotions, I'll put it on. Glad you felt you could show your genuine emotions with this song, it was enriching to see.

I think all members of the Nightwish family have cried at least once over their songs, it is totally human and also shows that you are a real, complex, loving person

Hey bro! Mad respect to you... As a man also, this song always brings tears to my eyes also. There's nothing wrong with a man being able to feel and display strong emotions to something THIS beautiful. Frankly, i doubt the humanity of anyone who doesn't get emotional when hearing this song and if they understand the meaning of it. it is extremely profound. Thanks for sharing your obviously genuine and heart-felt reaction. you earned a new sub from me.

In the original video, Nightwish is so hot, their campfire sits around them! Love this live version too..... and I like weasels (if you saw the translated intro Marko performed here!) Troy's rising and falling volume and tones on the whistle - like the rise and fall of ocean waves...
Epic! and touching. Cheers, mate! You are keeping it real and have my thanks!
