Then you had the Dan Marino years where they were consistently in the playoffs with number of appearances in the AFC title game. You also have the great 70's Oakland Raiders & 80's Chicago Bears. Who can forget the defense on the '85 Bears?

I’m a redskins fan and I can safely say that we suck now, the 1982/87/91 SB years were long ago. Since then we’ve only won 3 playoff games, with 6 appearances and 2 division titles. Also tied with the Lions for the longest NFC championship appearance drought.

What about the Miami Dolphins. They won back to back seasons in 1972 and 1973. They went to 5 super bowls and almost always went to the playoffs in 80's and 90's. Now they only went to the playoffs twice in between 2009 and 2016.
