Greetings to you from Minnesota, Shelley! I find your style very, very appealing! I think the subject matter you find interesting is so refreshing,as well as unique, and your approach is spot on!! I am learning so much, and you do a fantastic job of articulating the hows and why's of your processes! Thank you ever so much, dear!! Your RUclips channel content ALWAYS BRINGS ME BACK TO YOUR CHANNEL AGAIN AND AGAIN!! I really appreciate your relaxed approach, too! Happy holidays, my friend
@@shelleypriorfineart I may send you a picture of my painting after I'm done. My burning question was should I paint the rainbow first or last! And it's the first thing you addressed! I haven't done any painting in 50 years
i know this is a year later after you did it but i have looking for a good rainbow tutorial that wasnt too hard for a partial beginner but not totally for kids either. I had to put my senior kitty down a couple mondays ago and have found doing rainbows surprisingly hard. Thank you.
Your videos are a joy to watch and look forward to them weekly. I do have a quick question: is the heat it tool you use cordless? Thank you for all your wonderful content.
I just watched a livestream and someone said they use distilled water so they don't get any granulation, or less at least. I always thought that the pigment was the biggest issue. I shy away from granulating to begin with when it's listed as a quality of the pigment. I just wondered if you have ever had an issue?
Some pigments are naturally granulating. I use the Cerulean Blue Hue (DaVinci) because I find it's less granulating than traditional Cerulean. Other blues like Phthalo will also be much smoother. Think of pigment powder as grains of sand - some are very fine and some are more coarse. Coarse sand will not become finer with distilled water. Perhaps the comment was in regards to distribution of pigment. To even out the flow of a wash and help suspend the pigment more evenly within the wash, a bit of gum arabic can be added to the paint water - only a little is needed as too much will cause shine. This will change the viscosity of the paint so it is less 'thin'.
@@shelleypriorfineart I just have to tell you that I appreciate your replying to my question. I know from your website how unbelievably busy you are, and it is so kind of you to share, both your Wednesday demonstrations and your vast knowledge of the media with me (us). Thank you, have fun in Texas and be safe.

On rainbow, purple is next to blue.
