    I love this truck and the painting you did of it. A favorite of mine. I have a question Louise--, why do you put a layer of light color where you will need to put a layer or two of dark? Like on the front of the truck. Why not just put the dark first? Cheers!👩🏻‍🎨🙂

    • @LouiseDeMasi
      @LouiseDeMasi  2 года назад +1

      Thanks very much Sue. I always paint the lightest tonal values first until I reach my darkest tone. If I jump from one tonal value to another I end up with problems. I build up the tonal values slowly because if I start too dark I end up with nowhere to go. Also dark colours will lift if you paint over them. I don’t know how dark I want to go until I am almost at the end of the painting. I compare an area with the area that surrounds it and I ask myself if I need to go darker in that area or not. If I do, it gets another layer of paint. It’s a gradual process that requires patience.
