That was great! I always wanted to try a white rose...sort of like shadow letters I suppose. Would love to see how you would "dash in" a background for this.
I just adore you and it's amazing fun seeing the bloopers at the end. I'm painting 13 commissioned pieces right now, with a lot of the subjects (farm animals) having white as their main color. I couldn't have come across your video at a more providential time! Thank you for sharing your mastery of a limited palette and so many different ways to paint "white." Blessings to you and yours!
Thanks for that. I’m at the stage of trying to get away from attempting to slavishly follow photos so this video was perfect for me! I love your approach to teaching, always excellent in content and delivered in a clear and very enjoyable way.
I 2nd Nancy's compliment to you. I found your wonderful tutorials by chance, when doing a search for watercolor tutorials by professional artists. I had grown weary of watching the same types of art videos that were basically copies of each other, just different presenters. I appreciate so much, your time and experience as a professional watercolor artist. Though I don't consider myself at the professional level, I enjoy the "process" of creating and learning "new" ways of "visualizing" subjects and painting with watercolors. I've also enjoyed your "out-takes" at the end of your videos. Thank you again.
Louise, this video was so interesting and amazing at what you did with the white roses. So lovely. As usual, thank you for sharing this information. Helene❤
I change the colors on reference photos because I can’t replicate the original. I love that you change the colors because you want to!! I am so impressed by the way you mix colors!!
“I hope there was something useful in there for you”. I hung on every word in this one. Thank you so much for the way you explain every choice from the photo choices through to final touches. This might have been the most useful RUclips video I’ve watched yet!
Thank you, Louise, this was very helpful. I tend to lean to a soft grey for white flowers, but you have shown beautiful other alternatives. Your three roses just demonstrated that getting "out of the box" can be quite exciting!
Those flannel flowers are gorgeous and the colors are so subtle and your owl is utterly ethereal! Love how you use color to emphasize the white! Great tips 🥰🥰
Love the way you guide the whole procedure and have managed one white lily following your tips and that came out so well got beautiful comments in the group of watercolour .Thank you so much . Though I am still far from reaching your fine subtle touch in the whites. But am trying 😊❤
You hit the nail on the head Louise, thats exactly my problem...that I always paint what I see from my photos. I just cant seem to put in colours like some artists do that aren't there, yourself included. I would love to paint one of those gorgeous elephants, giraffes or lions in blues, greens, purples, yellows etc, instead out come the browns, the yellow ochres, etc etc..how do you step 'outside the box' its not as easy as you say...
Though I'm a member of Skillshare and one of your Patreons, I always end up on here. I love, love, love these videos. Thank you, Louise! When I see what I want, I go to those sites and find the lesson. Easy peasy. Hugs from Florida!
Louise - This is a wonderful video, so clear to see what one can do with just minor variations in hue. Seeing three versions of the same rosebud, all subtly different yet made with the same three primary colors, is quite an eye-opener! I'm sharing this video on my FB page to show friends what a fabulous teacher you are and encourage them to try your methods! Thanks for such inspiration! 💜💛💚
I've learned so much from watching all your videos. So appreciate your offering! 😊 I was wondering about your palette used in this video. It's so cool. I get some nice porcelain palettes for great prices from TEMU mail order. But I've not seen one like yours. So fun watching this video.
Wow another good tutorial. I’m new and end up blocking my creativity because I’m so rigid on trying to get the shadows to match. Thank you for this video. 🌞🌞🌞
I like the use of colours to hold the image together and keeping it simple. I find there can be too many colours to choose from adding stress to the painting process. Thank you
Thanks, your skills are awesome, it's help me a lot, use white in white paper is always a passion for me, and every time I try to concentrate but I'm not eble to do It .always it was okay but I am not sure and satisfied, this vedio help me a lot I will try my best, thanks
Wish I'd watched this before I painted my white rose! It turned out okay...but I'm glad you have this tutorial up in case I try it again! Also...what's the name of that amazing palette you're using?
