Awesome to see the US getting some recognition! My go to pack is pretty simple, I use panko, grits, cream corn, corn powder with salts and minerals and concentrated liquid flavoring! During my time with Carl in the UK we tried this tactic and we were able to observe their feeding behavior with the pack bait. What we noticed was that they were too focused on the pack bait and weren’t interested in the rig at all. Pretty interesting to see! I had to check your video out and was curious to see your results as well! Awesome job nonetheless!
Hi Brendan, cheers for watching and I hope you enjoyed it 😁 I did wonder if you'd see this as of course I've seen the bits you've done with Carl too 👌🏻 think I need to try this again in the summer next year
@ of course, no problem! I definitely did enjoy it, I was hoping the pack would have done better haha maybe like you said in the summer it might make a difference! I also appreciate that and I’m glad you were able to see some of our adventures together 😄
That was a fun little comparison and would be cool to see again under warmer conditions. The pack bait I use here in the States is 40ish ounces of Quaker Oates, 2 packs of Jello (I prefer pineapple flavor), and 2 cans of sweet creamed corn. Its cheap, simple and effective.
I say most important thing about pack bait is the breakdown time test a ball in the edge and if it doesn’t breakdown within a minute it’s to wet
As my method mix i just blend up a few packs of bread cheap And catch loads
@Lukas9877 definitely a great method 👌🏻
I enjoyed the blog, maybe a 4 season comparison would be fairer. Keep up the good work.
What an awesome shout to us in the USA! Great video. My favorite simple packbait is oats, creamed corn & peanut butter😋
@WildWaterUSA was good fun and will definitely be doing it again in the warmer weather 😁
I really enjoyed the video here from the US. I used the method mixed all the time in my videos. great job on the video
Years ago, instead of the pack bait, we used to use vitalin dog food, same rig! Worked great.
Great fun video Joe, lumpy wallpaper paste came to mind 😂, and to let you know I asked you about your Avid bivvy and you recommended it, so I bought the 2 Man version, will be using it on my next trip 👍
Go get your commission on that one Bert
Great idea for a film this Curly ❤
Great video. And thanks for showcasing my recipe. Been using it for years now with great success. I’m slowly getting into boilies with PVA.
@TopTacticFishing cheers for watching. Sorry I didn't do the recipe justice on this trip but I'm sure it will work in the warmer months 😁
@ yes sir! Keep up the good work!
Boilies strung onto PVA tape is a killer. Just a simple inline lead and basic hair rig is needed. My preference for boilie is CC Moores Live System, but other makes work well also. Give it a try.
Good video. The beard is looking more Rolf Harris everytime i see you 😁
Great vid as always pal keep it up 👏👍👍
Loved it man! I started using PVA mesh bags over here because them pack baits are a mess and difficult to cast at range but they do work.
Good film curly thank-you
grits area southern thing…grandma whioped abunch of butter and cheese…and they are usually served at breakfast. shrimp and grits w gravy are a south carolina thing that are popular all over the state….also we dont fish for carp generally…but when we do its just 20# mainline braid to swivel, 6 inch dropper with 3/4 ounce weight and a leader thats 10lb flouro. for bait try a hot dog thats been soaked in strawberry jello or corn tied up in a bait sack.
My pack bait mix is just panko and cream corn lol. Mybe i will add brown suger and molasses if i am feeling fancy. Have had fish up to 38lb with my pack bait.
Grit pack bait will not pack under certain conditions, at all... oats and panko pack will always pack as long as it's warm enough
awsome video Joe😂🎣
Good video, thought the boilies would come out on top (just), came across grits in Florida not for me 🤑 keep it up 🎣🐳👍🏻
Pineapple jello works really well instead of the red flavors and it’s still a natural bread color it doesn’t completely change the color of the bread crumbs
Superb video my man. Curly video day = happy me day. Large glass of red, curry incoming = perfection 😂
@marchasler3263 just read this with a big glass of cabernet in my hand too 😁 enjoy
See you have grits with breakfast, it goes on the side of an American fry up basically. They are pretty tasteless unless you get the yellow grits from Italy are better as there sweet. But it’s pretty much like the consistency of Gruel! But yeah side dish with breakfast and also the Quaker ones are crap. lol but love the content as always just makes me laugh as I’m half American myself. 😊
good video would love to see this when it gets warmer
@RedDirtHD definitely going to be done 👌🏻
Really cool video idea. I was all curious how well packbait would do in England. Grits are actually made from corn
@timpetrak4780 my wife told me this when she heard me editing 🙈 oops
Cool video Joe!
@@MartynsAnglingAdventures Cheers Martyn
Both methods are good on there own.
Pack bait work perfectly in USA and some other parts of the world. It’s all depends what the fish is used to feed on.
I use pack bait in England from time to time only because is very very cheap way to do it and fish actually can feed on that and result in bites.
My pack bait mix is : Oats , jello and tin of sweetcorn. Literally 1-2£ for a whole day of bait.
I also use same mix abroad in Bulgaria when I fish there and it does the job
The grits looked a bit watery had them in tenners more like the consistency of rice pudding.
You need to get an American angler to fish with you over here and then go and fish with an American angler over there using the same tactics
I bet you would smash it 👊
Keep up the good work and keep the videos coming 👌
@jessboytaylor103 now there is a nice idea. Maybe one day 👌🏻
Hello from USA, fun video! We actually catch carp and smallmouth Buffalos on the pack bait method all year long here in Texas where I'm from. Our waters are wild and for some reason that places a factor on the bites. I'm not surprised the UK method got the first bite. U also are really familiar with the method. BTW flavor grits is grosse lol but home style grits is delicious..😂😂
@@cyprinusaddiction1441 I'll take your word for it... quaker has put me off for life 🤣🤣
@nuffinbutfishing but is true pack bait is not the best method for that much cold weather. Either way is fun to see u guys trying our carp fishing way lol 😆
@@cyprinusaddiction1441 will try again in the summer 😁
How did the exo bivy do in the super cold? I brought the exo+ a couple months ago and has been great. First session in the super cold next weekend so hoping it holds up warmth wise
@Gyro_Flex most bivvys will be very similar warmth wise to be honest. It's the bedchair and bag that needs to be up to the job 👌🏻 having said that, i was fine although the inside froze too as I don't shut the door and my kettle steam filled the bivvy before I went to bed
@ completely agree with the sleep system, that I can confidently say with a hot water bottle I should be toasty. Tight lines Joe. I met you at Avalon in April. Thanks for the great content!
I fish a lot of pack bait here in the states, but do much better with European type tactics.
The two pact baits I use and have really good luck on is panko breadcrumbs strawberry jello mix and a can of whole kernel sweet corn and the second on is old fashion oats can of cream corn can of whole kernel sweetcorn and vanilla extract
@@taylorcruseofthevillage732 cheers for your winning recipes 😁 may have to try them next time
What's the lead clip system you're using?
@philedwards666 from memory it's the Nash weed lead clips
Always wanted to know what pack bait was, thanks and an idea of you do this again you'll have to try pack bait vs ground bait but home made 😂
@d_dot_poilee7833 cheers for the idea and glad you enjoyed this video 😁
Good vid different I bet if you old mate Luke had the UK hat on hed definitely be one of Ken Dodd s diddy men lol
Panko is very different to bread crumbs in terms of stickiness
I had my money on the American tactics for this time of year. Interesting to see. Gritz fans in dispair.
Grits is a southern thing, I'm not a fan either mate. would be intrestin to revisit this in the summer
I'm from the south; grits are still an unappetizing bland goo.
This is weird.. in south africa we fish both styles. But our pack bait (mielie bom) is differnt and we use 2 hooks with floats and a dough to weigh it down its called "pap gooi" and then the uk style we just call specimen fishing and is the same as uk
You deffo need to do this when it's warmer but get an American over to compete with their own pack bait . It would be super interesting.
Do you think one day we will all fish the same? With knowledge becoming more accesible each and every day . Ive seen americans adapting our methods . Or will people always have their own go to ?
Fishing is developing at an immense rate.
@@yorkietipper1606 maybe that will have to be arranged 😁
I used to play Euro Fishing & Fishing Sim on PS4 when I couldn't get on the bank..All real venues, tackle, line, bait etc, think I got more addicted to them than Fishing at one point 😂..
@MidlandsFishandWildlife can't beat the real thing but games come close 👌🏻
Flavourless baby food, yum......
@@deemo8578 I think even my 10 month old would question that stuff
@@nuffinbutfishing hahahahaha
Grits is ground maize in the uk….I think?
ground maize prepared by soaking in an alkali solution I believe
Curly can you do a blog on fishing in weed,, cheers
Will do if I end up fishing a weedy venue 👌🏻
Beans and toast = good . Grits = disgusting 😂 4:11
@ProbablyDope420 beans on toast is the one 👌🏻
That’s a Deep South thing as a English person you soon learn how to say hold the grits 😂😂😂
Customise 🤷.. So it goes without saying you'll be using 'sonik' gear for the carp section!? Hahahah x
Grits. The scrapings from the bottom of a bird cage, boiled, all flavour removed, you are left with a mush of tasteless much that even the birdie poo cannot flavour! LOL
@@akwamarsunzal when you put it like that, it suddenly sounds more appetising...
Never seen grits used in packbait before, personally. Typically the most common american packbait thats used here is sweetcorn..panko breadcrumbs..and either strawberry or cherry jello. It works damn well. Usually have a method lead with 4-6 inches of line below it to some hair rigged double sweetcorn. Never has failed me at all.
Also the packbait you used was way too flaky and crumbly. You 100% needed more moisture. It should be more doughy and easily clump together and stick to itself and the method feeder. Def want to see you retry this in warmer temps with the packbait done a bit better. This test was certainly inconclusive.
Also grits is more a thing in the southern united states. Its mostly eaten as a side. Not a sauce or main course. And these instant grits packets are notoriously shit lmao. But grits itself isnt the most popular thing in the USA as a whole and the instant grits is certainly nothing i have ever heard of anyone eating regularly
You missed the most important bit straight after making them instant Grits....... Instantly pour it away, I think you'd be better of mixing some polyfilla!
What is amazing is that over here in the US, our Carp aren't as fat and diabetic as the anglers 😆
Not sure if this is insulting me or insulting America anglers 🙈
@nuffinbutfishing insulting American anglers. We feed our Carp the same processed crap that we eat.
@@kmb957 haha fair enough 🤣
it be cool if you could get an american angler over there for a 1v1
or Carl can fill in as the american as he has a little experience.
@@thegreatpotatokitty8196 maybe one day 😁😁
Had grits in the states , wet then fried , disgusting .
@@bashab3098 they were vile 🤢
You didn’t use a bow 🤣
🙈🙈🙈
@ 😂
Grits 🤮 watch the film my cousin Vinny
Could it be possible that American tactics work better in American climate?
@@UlTiMaTz400 maybe I need to test that one day 😁
England wins 9/10 all day long 😂
We will see next time 😁
I feel like jelly is just gonna ruin the water quality more than anything
That promo was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to long
@jamesking9710 apologies but I hope you enjoyed the other 25 minutes of free content 😁
