Tom, I have no idea what brought me to your channel in my algorithm, but Good God, I'm glad it did! Never stop this style of content if you can help it! From the usa (I'm sure there are more than me😆) Thankyou for letting an American in on your adventures in the UK!
I say this a lot, but spending time with people and making memories is a priority for me. Of course, catching fish helps, but it's a bonus great video once again Tom ❤
Loved this vid. Almost all the people I subscribe to in one video. Snagbros, cal , without Danni :( and Carl. @@tomwilshaw I always try and comment on content that I really appreciate so that creators know the effort doesn't go unnoticed, and so that it helps in some very small way to boost the channel. Hoping that everyone does the same!
@tomwilshaw 😂😂 love the video, It was great to see you guys all together, and to see yourself Fishing. You'll be hooking into 40lb carp next time for sure.
This is true fishing in a nutshell someone's says we will all catch 30's and out the 10 lads that turn up only 2 catch (12lbers) but the memories made was worth more than the 30lbers that was promised great job in depicting true angling Tom and can't wait for the next video
@@tomwilshaw i’ve been a few times but i’m generally quite new to fishing so i’m trying to take it one step at a time because the fish there are just so big .

Thank you so much 😁 thankfully the odd fish will show up in my next two videos haha, but means the world folks like yourself are prepared to just sit with me and take in the session :)
Excellent video been there caught nowt many times but on the flip side I was on a catfish lake recently and I was the only person to catch and I caught 6 cats all around 20 (2 were over)and 4 carp all over 15, I was last to turn up got the worst looking swim and I was first to leave, I even had a few of the other fishermen look at my gear and one ask if I got it in a charity shop. I said bye blanker to him.
The difference between an average angler and a great one is instinct and confidence. Both of these qualities come from experience, the more time you spend fishing the greater the pool of instances you can reference and compare in your own mind to apply to the moment. Something that can really help is to spend most of your time on one water, somewhere not too easy (catching every chuck doesn't teach you anything except that those fish are starving) but also not a complete head banger (a water which might do half a dozen bites a year when you do everything right). Draw/print a map and slowly add details to it over the course of a season such as underwater features, time/date and location of shows and of course catches, note down weather/wind/pressure/number+location of other anglers, it won't make much sense initially but as time goes on and you add more to it you'll start to notice patterns that might otherwise pass you by as they merge into the long hours. Don't get too caught up in rigs and bait, I know everything seems like the latest and greatest thing through the lens of the fishing media but if you look at most of the great anglers they rarely chop and change and this tells us that as long as it's edible and has a sharp hook attached then it'll do the business as long as it's put near the fish when they're feeding. This isn't to say there isn't some nuance to baits and rigs but if you chop and change every time you'll never be able to establish what's working and why, if you're going to make changes, change one thing at a time and compare the differences otherwise you'll never be certain which change actually made the difference and this can lead you further away from the solution rather than closer towards it.
A masterclass in a paragraph!!! I agree mate, slowly gaining confidence through experience, and discerning patterns is everything - only comes from time spent on the bank :)
It is such a different world over there. You all do amazing storytelling to make the video and all those micro b-roll shots... talk about making something out of nothing. Ha, ha! Imagine if you had to sort through dozens of fish catches and try to tell more story than show fish catches, like we do over here in North Dakota on Lake Sakakawea. :) Looking forward to a day when you all decide to hop the big pond to stay in the fishing lodge here at Lake Sakakawea and we do some walleye fishing. We might even be able to find you some carp if you really desire.
Good times. However im with Tom, carp are pretty far down my list of interest (mostly because ive done that) and the blue water really does suck. Embrace the weed, its where the naturals are and by extension where the feeding fish are.
If it was so easy than it’d be called catching. This time you learned how not to catch from that water 😉 I’m way more jealous of the little social you had with your friends.
I haven't actually! I've walked it a few times, and my brother in law fishes it regularly up near Leicester, but never done so myself! I'd like to though :)
