25 mph is quite slow. In my country, NL, we would be allowed to ride at 38 mph (60 kph) in that kind of environment with those wide roads.

Speeds would normally be higher, but this is a National Park with cars stopping to enjoy the views and pedestrians milling about. It is intended to be a slow scenic drive.

Planning a trip this Thanksgiving break, had a few questions. Did you have to take any special permits for motorcycles? How did you manage with the fuel? Did you carry any backup fuel?

If you are going to Yosemite, you do need to get a reservation. They have special reservations for motorcycles. Also, you will either need to pay a fee at the gate or have a National Park Pass. They have special park passes for motorcycles as well. During the summer, you can go in after the gates close and you don't need any of that. As an additional benefit, the parks are pretty quite in the evenings. Nice open roads. I find that after hours are the best time to get open roads and nice video. However, that only works during the summer, when the sun sets much later. Not sure what Yosemite will be like during Thanksgiving. It is in the Sierra Nevadas, so the weather might be a kind of questionable for a motorcycle. On the other hand, Pacific Coast Highway should be awesome this time of year. No fog and very light tourism.
As for gas, that is not usually a problem. There are plenty of gas stations around. I can get about 160 miles on a full tank and I have not had any problems. I do pay attention to what I am doing and make sure I know where the gas stations are.
Hope you have a great trip!
