I actually got pretty good images of Jupiter with a Samsung phone and the holder. My complaint with the holder is that it is not solid in holding the phone perpendicular to the eyepiece. Also, it can be a trial to get the image centered in the camera. I would like to show you the pictures I took, but this forum does not seem to allow uploading of images.
Hi, I have an 8 inch Celestron Dobsonian Starsense that came with the software, and I bought the NexYZ phone adapter to take photos with. I have an Iphone 11, for the record. I have managed to get some incredible shots of the moon as well as attempting some DSO shots, but getting the camera lined up so that you see what the telescope sees can be a challenge. I'm guessing that I'm not doing it correctly, but there's only basic instruction that comes with it. I notice that you are leaving the rubber guard on your eyepiece, while I've been taking mine off because that's what the guy at the shop told me to do. As far as the shaking goes, I did find that you can voice activate the camera to take a picture on my Iphone 11. I have a DSLR camera, but I don't dare use it until I get a remote shutter control (and probably a light pollution filter since I live in town). I'll try it with the rubber guard on the eyepiece and see if that helps.
I just received my nexyDxadapter kit to mount my samsung s20ultra to my celestron nextstar 8se . If it doesn't do any better that that I'm going to send it back. I can free hand the moon and get the same results, if not better than was shown in the video. I'm 49 and have always wanted to get into astrophotography. I have a nikon 7000 that I've tried to get to work but evidently I'm not smart enough to figure IT out. Have a good day and good luck capturing the skies
A Samsung Note phone has the stylus you can use to trigger the camera without disturbing the telescope. I'm sure an old used one can be had cheap (Note 7, 8, or 9).
How are you getting all the moon in your eyepiece on a 8SE.? I'm using a .63 focal reducer and can't get the entire moon. Are you using a wide field of view eyepiece? 76 degree ?
How'd it go? I've got the same phone and a celestron 130slt. I struggle with making it work. I've got it to work but barely. It hits the set screws on the eyepiece. I feel like I need some kind of extender for the eyepiece to put it higher up away from the set screws
big fan!! love all the tutorials - thank you so much!! I have a dslr - can you recommend settings for canon 800D, iso, aperture with 8SE... really struggling - many thanks - no planes on that video 🙂
Haha, I lucked out with no planes on that shoot. I did have a super loud car racing down the road at one point. I'm not completely familiar with the 800D, but I find 800 to 1600 iso tends to work pretty well. It really will be some trial and error to see what works best for you. Here's link to AstroBackyard, who I initially went to when I was getting started. He outlines many different camera settings, and his article is worth a read for sure. astrobackyard.com/7-astrophotography-tips/
Review not so useful for me... Man your phone holder pic is out of focus, worse than hand-held 11:21. Astrophotography is about patience, fine tuning...
I couldn't believe my first photo I took, The Ring Nebula, set my cell phone camera to 15 second exposure with an ISO of 1600 👍🏻

I wondered about that issue. I think I'll try it anyways and compare to a decent DSLR.

Move Shoot Move triadjustable holder - the best.
What are good eye piece combinations to use to see mars, Jupiter, or a galaxy? Thank you to any who answer this, in advance.
Thanks for all these videos!

Quite sure you can get a bluetooth phone camera trigger for cheap as well, will probably be cheaper if you dont need a new/old phone.
Newbie here. Thanks for your videos. Is there a way to use this and an iPhone and not have the images be round but rather full frame? Thanks!
Great videos - extremely helpful - thanks!
I have an iPhone with three camera on the back. Which one do I use for astrophotography? Thanks!!!
I have the same question

Thx.
BTW, in case u do a follow up video, you can use screen capture to show us the screen of the cellphone to us :)
What do you think about C90?
I have a s20ultra that I just bought the adapter kit for . I hope that I can capture jupiter , if not celestron will be getting the mount back .
I caught Jupiter and it’s moons with my Omni 102az cheap telescope compared to this one

What is the largest aperture eyepiece that the xyz will attach to?
Honestly, I'm not sure, it does open pretty wide though.
What is the trick?
I can not get my phone adapter to focus on anything but the moon
Did you know there's a UFO in your video?
What where?!
You mean the airplane that went from right to left low in the horizon?

Astrophotography is about patience, fine tuning...
He needs a bluethooth shutter button so the mount doesn't shake when he pushes for a cellphone photo
