    #7 "It rains a lot." This sentence in English refers to frequency, or how often it rains. For example, "It rains a lot in Taipei in the winter." The rain may be very light, but it rains often. Your translation 雨下得很大 seems to me like it likely means "It is raining a lot." This would be referring to how much (quantity) it's raining right now, like 下大雨了. If this is correct, then "It rains a lot" should be something like 常常會下雨. Let me know what you think, thanks.

    • @MandarinWithMissLin
      @MandarinWithMissLin  4 года назад +1

      Julie Classe de français good question! In this sentence, you buy coffee everyday. So it’s a repetitive habituel action. Native speakers would add 都 . For example 我每天都去跑步🏃I go for a run everyday. It sounds very nautical. 😉 Is that Ok?

    Of course the time has to appear at the beginning of a sentence in Chinese. You have no tenses. I hate it when my wife makes a sentence in English and ignores tense. I don't know if she is talking about something she did yesterday, something she just did, something she does every day or something she will do tomorrow.

    买 and 卖 get me every time because I'm TERRIBLE at tones. My ex (from mainland China) told me you CAN use 是 with adjectives if you have 的 after the adjective, but it sounds kinda weird. So like 我是高的. Is that true?

    • @MandarinWithMissLin
      @MandarinWithMissLin  4 года назад +2

      Dakota Abroad
      Hi! Mistakes are valuable. No worries:) Many learners still have tones problem even though they’re advanced learners .
      That’s right. 我是高的is grammatically correct but we used this structure 我是+adjective 的 to emphasize the adjective. For example if you’re arguing if you’re right or wrong with someone. You can say 我是對/对的(wǒ shì duì de) to insist you’re right and emphasized what you say is absolutely correct. Which is quite agressive of course.
      Keep up the good work! 🤗加油!

      @@MandarinWithMissLin Awesome! Thanks for the response. My ex had a lot of trouble explaining the grammar behind things because he was just a native speaker and had no background in linguistics or teaching.
