  • i9 Voice Changer is an inexpensive option with a lot of uses at around $25.
    Connect it directly to an amplified speaker or connect it to a phone/game console.
    See the “How to Connect” section below for connection instructions.
    - I recommend using a “personal voice amp” - an all in one system that includes mic, preamp (required for mics), amp, speaker, and optionally may also have a TF card / SD card, aux or USB input. Moukey Va-1 Personal amps are my favorite because they can be gutted and fit into helmets.

    MY INSIGHTS:
    - This voice changer actually works fairly well. And should be a core go-to for inexpensive voice changing capabilities for costume integration, gaming, etc.
    - They designed it to integrate with various devices, including your phone, Xbox, PlayStation etc.
    - It’s Far superior to the Halloween store voice changers. Any of those I’ve tried had limited features, and were mostly indecipherable.

    HOW TO CONNECT DEVICES:
    - TO OUTPUT TO AN AMPLIFIER/SPEAKER: A dedicated Mic goes in the "mic" port on top & an amplified speaker goes into “headset” port on bottom. For the speaker you must use a TRRS cable - those are the types if cables that came with the i9 (3 plastic separators & 4 metal sections on the 3.5 mm tip).
    - TO OUTPUT TO A PHONE OR GAME SYSTEM:
    - FOR A 3.5MM HEADSET (headphones + mic combo) - plug into the “Headset” port on bottom; & plug your Phone, game console, or other 2 way devices into “Live1” or “Live2” ports on top using the i9 provided TRRS 3.5mm cable. (Note if your headset has 2 separate plugs for mic & headphones, connect it to a splitter/combiner designed for combining the 2 - it has 2 female 3.5 connectors and merge to a single TRRS male pin. Then put that pin into the headset jack.)
    - FOR A USB HEADSET - use a USB to 3.5mm converter - if your converter splits into mic and headphones then you’ll also need a male mic and male headphones to a single TRRS 3.mm male converter cable.
    - note for iPhones/iPads - you’ll need an iPhone to 3.5mm female converter to connect to your 3.5mm TRRS line that goes into the “Live” port.

    Hello. Thanks for the great info. I have the i9. Can you tell me exactly how you hooked it up please? I haven’t found a personal amp with the 3.5 mm connection im assuming it needs. I tried a small speaker with a 3.5 jack but with no amp. It was way to low.

    • @creative-stuff
      @creative-stuff  8 месяцев назад +1

      Any personal voice amp should work. The exact one I used is no longer sold. what I normally build my masks with is a Moukey Va-1 because it’s board is crazy small - perfect for gutting & embedding in masks but it’s likely sold out on Walmart or Amazon. While I just bought a bunch in bulk - I’ may well be selling soon - but either way if you want something now - you can get something like a winbridge - amzn.to/3skaFgh its board is not the smallest but it’s the smallest board I’ve found since Moukey sold out from retailers. If you’re not looking to embed in a mask then any personal amp is fine.
      If you just want to talk from a mic to a speaker - I use the personal amps mic and plug into the MIC port on top & plug the i9’s TRRS 3.5mm cable into the headset port (out) and plug it into the personal amp’s mic in port (you can use its aux port but I like the extra boost from the mic ports preamp.)

    Just got it in the mail today, exactly what I've been looking for to complete my voice amp for my suit. One question, which of the modes do you think gives the most accurate Mandalorian voice effect? I'm using DJ for now

    • @creative-stuff
      @creative-stuff  9 месяцев назад +2

      I actually just messed with it recently and I think it was DJ that I heard and thought it sounded a lot like a trooper or mandalorian. It scales back some of the lower frequencies and added a pinch of reverb which sounds pretty close. I’d stay with the top section options. One or 2 of the others might work too if you turn the reverb down from their default settings.
      I don’t see any reason for the male/female section to be in the running for this.
      I’d experiment with tweaking the top options. DJ is a top contender for sure. The only way to get any better assessment is to verify side by side with some Mando audio files.
      Rock on.
      Btw the board in this thing is super thin if you are wanting to embed in your helmet. I’ll soon be dropping a short video on how to open it without breaking it.

    • @creative-stuff
      @creative-stuff  8 месяцев назад

      This does not come with a microphone. I recommend using the one you get with your trooper amp. I imagine they sell this in the UK, or something similar. There are quite a few that are very similar - so I imagine they may well be using the same chipsets - that's my hunch anyway.

    • @creative-stuff

      +Jordans reviews and more
      Amazon UK has it but it’s crazy expensive at like 52 pounds. Buy it from Ali Express - it’s like $13USD.
      It does Not come with a mic. I normally buy a personal voice amp that the i9 feeds into and I just use the mic from that amp.

  • @irenegomez3285
    @irenegomez3285 5 месяцев назад +1

    Which thing are you using for the mic? Im trying using my headphone at it isn’t working, maybe it doesn’t recognise the airphones as mic…don’t know 😢

    • @creative-stuff
      @creative-stuff  5 месяцев назад

      +@irenegomez3285 I put mic into MIC on the top and for the audio-out I use the HEADSET to send audio to my amp using the TRRS 3.5mm cable that came with i9.
      If using a phone -plug TRRS cable from phone to LIVE1 and put your Headset (combo mic/headphones into HEADSET.
      I don’t think it will work with AirPods given the input voice needs to go into the i9 which outputs through your phone.
      Only voices that input through the Mic or Headset jacks will have the voice changing performed.

    Hi, I came accross your channel when I was searching voice changer tutorials for my Alastor (from Hazbin Hotel) cosplay, and it's very helpful. Question, may I know which soundcard/voice changer do you suggest for this type of cosplay? was eyeing to get i9, but not sure if it's the best option.
    Thanks,

    • @creative-stuff
      @creative-stuff  4 месяца назад +2

      I’m glad it’s been helpful!
      You’ll see I’ve reviewed many voice changers (playlist ruclips.net/p/PLfxTIYzMCdBB5398aZzzp7EOPFwHWun8S&si=eeqr5egopVTQRKBe). Some other voice changers are stronger in some areas, in general i9 is a good catch but it’s worth taking a look at other options.
      For Alastor, to me it seems it’s more about his speaking style although it does seem like he’s got an old timey radio sound too.
      Depending on your voice perhaps can use pitch alterations for your voice which i9 can do via the female/male options.
      If your pitch is okay and you just wanted to sound a little old-timey like a radio you could use “DJ” setting on the i9 (with reverb at lowest setting) it sort of does that - BUT even better than the i9, for old timey, is the “Phonograph” setting on the K9 Voice changer - my review of K9 - ruclips.net/video/fq0E49NYM2s/видео.htmlsi=IF8Y0uHfY0NdsCH9 (buy it here: amzn.to/47WcyP9).
      If it were me - I’d opt for the K9 and use “Phonograph”, as his voice does seem like it’s coming over an old radio. (K9 is not as flexible on some other features but is excellent at old-timey!)
      It’s also the only one out there I’ve found that will allow a mix of pitch change and add reverb - good for other characters like Darth Vader, etc.
      Hope that helps.

    What do you consider to be the best option to change or modify the voice to male? (I am a man). I am looking for a tool to avoid telephone fraud, even if I have to change my voice to a female voice I would not hesitate to use it, but my first alternative is to only modify the male voice without noticing the artificial voice, strange echoes or robotics.

    • @creative-stuff
      @creative-stuff  4 месяца назад

      Hmm, I reviewed quite a few voice changers, however looking for just a slightly different version of my own voice was not on my radar, so I don’t particularly remember, which might’ve been the best option for modifying a male voice to sound like a different male voice. My focus was, mostly the sound deeper like Darth Vader, Kylo Ren or Batman or something like that, or on the flip side which made a realistic transition to a female voice- so I just am not positive what would be the optimal solution. Off the cuff I think this one should be good but it’s subjective I suppose. If you check out my Voice Changer playlist, you can see which you think sounds best.
      There are some that I’ve tried out that had an electronic twang to them which, of course would disqualify them for use case but I note that to state all options are certainly not equal. the best I can recommend is listening to each of those reviews and deciding what works best for you. You need both a mic and an external amp with speaker. Here is what I integrate it with - a personal amp that I gut and integrate into a helmet: ruclips.net/video/0fAGJK9jco4/видео.html -- that one is a small and fit well in helmets. You can get the Moukey VA1 amp here: rebelempiredesigns.etsy.com/listing/1604606998

      +luckyreplica sorry for the delay - i overlooked the question about the speaker…
      YES, you can use almost any speaker you like. They’ll work best when you align the ohms and watts to your amplifier’s. If you don’t know what that means don’t stress it, just use the speaker you want ( on these smaller amps it’s less of a concern).
      On the note of different speakers - I actually prefer to use an exciter instead of the full speaker that comes with the voice amps, given the exciter is lower profile, and gives better sound since it turns the whole helmet into a speaker.

    it would be placed inside the costume and wouldn't be easy to access once the whole outfit was put on. i was planning to set a voice, and then just leave it on so i could walk around talking with that voice for a couple hours.

      I don’t recall it ever turning off by itself. But then again, I didn’t leave it sit there knowingly, while it was still on; so I can’t say for sure.
      For the price it’s worth it. I’ve yet to find a better deal than this model for the price range. Most of those simple Halloween Voice Changer’s out there are about the same price and they’re garbage. The price you found is really good.
      What I have not done is taking this thing apart to see the innards - I imagine it has a Lipo battery, which if is the case, would then easily changed to a larger model, and even be swappable if it fails earlier than expected.

      [ edit a day after posting the second question: i took it to an electronics place, and they figured out that the cable that it came with was either non-functional, or wasn't compatible with the amp itself. either way, they tried a different cable with a different number of rings on the jack, and everything works now. i learned from them that the rings on those jack insert plug things actually have a meaning... like the number of rings on the jack itself actually mean something. i had no idea and never even noticed that they had different numbers of rings. ]
      [you can disregard the question since it was solved, but i'll leave it in case other people have this problem. i wanna say the voice changer and amp both came with a jack that had 3 rings, and the one they tried that ended up working had 2 rings on the jack. i'll have to double check later]
      so i just got it in the mail today, along with a portable amp speaker that i had hoped to plug it into.
      so both the voice changer and the speaker work on their own (i plugged some headphones into the voice changer and heard it working, same as the one in your video. then i unplugged the headset and used it to speak into the amplifier to see how loud it would be, and that worked), but when i use the included cable to try and have the changed voice coming through the amplifier so it's loud, it doesn't work. i'm not sure why the sound would come through on headphones, but not the amp... i'm gonna go by some local electronics stores tomorrow to see if any of them know why it's not working when i try to use them together. not sure if it's the cable, or the portable speaker not being compatible for some reason? if it works on headphones, i don't see why they wouldn't work with the amp. very confused and frustrated. i'm not great with electronics in general, but this seems like it ought to be working. i plugged the amp into the same slot where the headphones had been. the voice changer itself is pretty great. it's unsettling hearing a chick voice when i use that setting though. the DJ voice on mine doesn't sound like a Stormtrooper like the one in your video did, but i'm hoping that's because i was hearing it through headphones instead of a speaker.

      so the cables that it came with had 3 white rings on the silver part of the jack, and the one i got from the electronics guys has 2 black rings.
      the packaging is as follows:

      3.5mm 3/C STEREO Male-Male, 6'
      3.5mm stereo male to 3.5mm stereo male

      ($5.95 for the 6ft, but they also had a 1ft cable for $2 that they tested out first to see if it would work)

      If your JBL is a portable speaker with its own amp - it should be good.
      --
      This device has an ability to work with Bluetooth but does not rely on it.
      There is a 3.5mm audio out that can go to another device - I sent mine out to a personal amplifier. I believe the signal worked either on the aux input or the mic input, but was even louder on the mic input due to the additional preamp.
      If you send it to a portable speaker with its own built in amp it should be good. I don’t recall if I tried sending to out to just a plain speaker with no amp. It would probably work but not have much volume- I think it’s inherent amplification is likely only viable for headphones.

      It’s possible you got a bum one, not sure. If you’ve run your mic into the MIC port and run the i9’s TRRS 3.5mm cable out to your personal voice amp - you should be golden . (You must use a trrs cable or you will hear nothing!). It should work on both an AUX or MIC input on your Voice amp but be a bit louder by running it through the MIC port as it’ll get a Pich more amplitude.
      If you’re connected they way mention and using one of the i9’s cables to connect to your personal amp & getting nothing - I would then try to swap out that i9.
      Most folks with issues connect to wrong ports or use a different cable.

    Hi there. I have got a personal amp in mail today
    Plugged things in as instructed... The lights on the I9 act like it hears me but nothing is coming from the personal amp speaker.
    Are some models just not equipped?

      @creative-stuff  22 дня назад

      Hmm. If you used the i9s 3.5 mm cable, then you did it all correctly. If that’s the case, you may have a bad i9 device.
      You don’t need to feed it directly into an AUX input, in fact, I like it better going into the mic input because you get an additional amplification out of it.

      So below, I have the directions written. But essentially I connect a portable amplifier or an amplified speaker to the headset Jack on the bottom of the I-9. And I put my mic into the top “mic”port on the I-9. That will do exactly what you need For what you wanna do.
      I generally just use a personal amplifier, one, because I already have it, and two because it comes with a mic. And a mic does not typically come with the I-9.
      ---
      HOW TO CONNECT DEVICES:
      - TO OUTPUT TO AN AMPLIFIER/SPEAKER: A dedicated Mic goes in the "mic" port on top & an amplified speaker goes into “headset” port on bottom. For the speaker you must use a TRRS cable - those are the types if cables that came with the i9 (3 plastic separators & 4 metal sections on the 3.5 mm tip).

      @@mobilegamer707 so I checked it out. You actually have to use the “live” options on the top. so where your mic goes in on the top there’s a “Live 1”, “Live 2” - both of those are intended to plug into 2-way conversation devices like a phone or game console.
      No idea why the headset jack will pass it correctly to a speaker, but then not correctly to a phone, but oh well at least it works on live 1 & live 2 in the top ports

    Ok I have it hock up to my amp and it won’t. Do anything

    • @creative-stuff
      @creative-stuff  7 месяцев назад

      Ensure your microphone is plugged into the mic input on the top, & your amp is plugged into the headset output on the bottom - ensure you use the I-9 output cables to ensure that’s not the source of the problem ( its cables are TRRS meaning it has tip ring ring, sleeve accommodating three different channels.)

    Also hab den I9 sprachwechsler bekommen und mit Kylo Ren funktioniert es nicht man kann nichts höher oder tiefer stellen weder Roboter noch Cartoon Stimme verändern nicht möglich. Wenn sie sagen das es geht würde ein Video über Kylo Ren Einstellungen sicher vielen Leuten helfen die ein Kylo Ren Cosplay haben.

    • @creative-stuff
      @creative-stuff  2 месяца назад

      For Kylo REN I recommend using “Female to Male” it can make your voice deeper without sounding as bad as Cartoon and Robot do. When using Female to Male - try different settings and use the fine tuning to find the best setting for your voice.

    Can you tell me...can you turn off the voice narration ?

    • @creative-stuff
      @creative-stuff  4 месяца назад

      Not sure if I understand the question - The i9 doesn’t have any narration inherent, so if you mean my narration, I’m afraid that’s baked into the video.
      Not sure if that answers the question.
      Is there something you couldn’t hear well that you need more info on?

      For me it seemed too low and bass-y and overly garbled - although I have a low voice and didn’t actually spend too much time messing with that particular feature but I imagine it’s more viable for voices that are not in the bass/baritone category

    If it is not working with your amp, the problem is maybe a sort of compatibility of both gadgets.
    I got an amp, working on itself, but not with the i9.
    So, an old USB driven cheap 10$ speaker pair is working with the i9.
    I would recommend you, if not working, to test another amp-speaker as first try to fix the problem of no sound

      I’ve not had that issue myself but you had 2 other options; 1: wait for the battery to die then retry after recharging, or 2: opening it up and removing the battery manually to reset it.

      Please help It doesent matter which ports I plug into it there's no way to make it work

    • @creative-stuff
      @creative-stuff  8 месяцев назад

      It should work by putting a headset with mic into the headset jack then your gaming system into live 1 or live 2. It works same for connecting to a phone as well.

    • @creative-stuff
      @creative-stuff  8 месяцев назад

      Note also for the Live 1 or 2 connections- ensure you use the 3.5mm cables that came with it. They have 3 black separaters - so they have a tip ring ring sleeve to support mic, left, right, & ground wires.

      It is not the most intuitive device right out the box - that's for sure. Thus why I opted to make this video to help people refrain from throwing their i9 Voice Changers in the lake :)

      I realize my instructions in the description could be improved so I’ve updated them there and am pasting those that apply to you here. Hope this helps.
      TO OUTPUT TO A PHONE OR GAME SYSTEM: Plug a HEADSET (headphones + mic combo) into the “Headset” port on bottom; Then plug your Phone, game console, or other 2 way devices into “Live1” or “Live2” ports on top using the TRRS 3.5mm cable that came with the i9 (TRRS cables have 4 wires - L/R/mIc/Ground and has 3 black separators on the metal 3.5mm tip). (Note: for an iPhone you’ll need the converter cable from iPhone jack to a 3.5mm female connection to connect to the TRRS cable to the “Live” port.)

    • @creative-stuff
      @creative-stuff  5 месяцев назад

      I’m guessing you mean “microphone” when you refer to “M”.
      Looking back at the video - I note that the mic I was using came with the ‘personal amplifier’ i used to test the i9. Perhaps I spoke too quickly and could have made that more clear. Thanks for the feedback - I’ll try to make it more clear in future vids.

    I tried to use the voice changer and follow instructions correctly to my SHINDU mini amplifier but there no sound coming out of it. How do I fix it?

    • @creative-stuff
      @creative-stuff  22 дня назад

      If your mic is going into mic port on the i9, then the i9s cable (TRRS) going out the Headset port - you have a signal that has gone through a preamp, so it should work on any amp. If you have a mic port on your SHINDU, plug in there too. Not being familiar with the device I cannot offer any more insights
