When using those or any magnets on painted surface, just put a strip of painters tape over them. Keeps from scratching the surface. Theyclean the shavings off easily, make them easier to see, and whenever you want you can pull it off and replace it.

Nice review, Tony - Ernst really understand how to design storage systems to be flexible and strong, and I'm more than happy with the Socket Boss trays that I have. Just wondering, are the bit storage holes magnetic, or are the bits held in purely by the tapered push-fit. If you can drive around with the bit rails vertical and no bits falling out, that looks pretty secure! I have some of those Harbor Freight type magnetic bit holders (mine are branded Sealey Premier), and the bits are always falling out of those, the magnets are way too weak.
Thank you and I completely agree. They do a great job designing the organizers. These are a tapered fit. The harder you press the border they hold. And still I only push lightly and have been driving with them for 3 weeks and have yet to have a rail fall or a bit fall out. I'm actually surprised, I knew they would do well but still figured one of them would atleast fall when hitting a bump or going around a sharp turn. But so far they have held in place very well. I hope that helps.
