- International Relations and Co-operation Minister Naledi Pandor says the judgment today by International Court of Justice (ICJ) is a victory for people of Palestine. ICJ has ordered Israel to take measures to prevent and punish direct incitement of genocide in the Gaza Strip. It must prevent destruction in the besieged enclave and ensure that basic needs are delivered in the strip. This after South Africa dragged Israel to the World Court for ceasefire in Gaza. Pandor has welcomed the judgment.

In fact, every significant war in the middle east and Africa have had a much higher death toll than the Hamas war, including the Iraq-Iran War with an estimated 500,000 to 2 million deaths, and the Congo War which has been blamed for 6 million deaths since 1996. The ratio of soldier to civilian deaths in Gaza is 1.5:1 - the lowest casualty rate ever recorded in history. The UN estimates the global average to be an astonishing 9:1. This is especially impressive since Hamas places its infrastructure, launch pads, bunkers and ammunitions in densely populated areas and near hospitals and schools.

But what she does not know is that oppressors and oppressed are two different situations, and there is a lack of balance that causes that situation. Israel has every right to defend themselves. They made thousands of phone calls, sent millions of text messages and dropped leaflets basically telling Hamas where they were they were going to attack. They gave instructions on where to get to safety and where to get food and water. Hamas and the Palestinians are to blame for the loss of civilian lives.
