i had like 5.6 second 0-60’s than i put big nittos on my orange 2014 sel that actually made it slower than I added some nice brimmer craft wheels than put a kn cold air intake on it , ngk spark plugs, a 60 hp chip , it’s always on e85. it’ll climb right up to 150 on my heads up display probably wouldn’t go over 165 nice impressive for a big front wheel drive car it’s a highway machine with the bigger tires it’s comfy to drive . certainly keepsup with scatpacks till 100. runs really good for 163k miles gotten a lot of driving out of this car just change the oil and oil filter often and pay attention to the coolant spark plugs and my purple 2011 taurus sel has 250k miles original everything
Same I have a 2015 SEL and I gotta say even at 259,000 this car runs strong very strong it moves like it just came off the assembly line lol for real I suppose it's very true you take care of your car and your car takes care of you which I never miss an oil change went with aftermarket air filter and I don't use just regular gas all the time I mean putting the good shit once in a while so it doesn't burn my wallet is worth it when you wanna blow them cobwebs outa those dual exhaust pipes
Down here in FL e85’s cheap enough to make up for the little bit of mileage you lose, so I’m pretty much the opposite and only run a tank of 87 during oil changes, e85 otherwise. Keep er healthy 🫡
Excellente! yes, these things are amazing. Truth is I got Ford and a Taurus because I knew these were built solid (I mean the trans and engine lol) but little plastics and rubbers falling off is totally doable vs having to always be replacing an engine or having transmission rebuilt. when ever i run her on e85 strangely I can feel a little more power but my MPG goes down... probably because I then drive hard. Even at 10 years old and 118k I can still get 29mpg on i95 and 19 in the city WITH hard take offs from the red lights

oh coo, but you can get all or front wheel drive on the Taurus as well. but the Front wheel drive is slightly faster due to not having to power the diff
as far as reliability goes, they both should have the same engine and trans but the Edge and Taurus engines are spec slightly different to allow more towing and weight carrying for the Edge

You will get used to it but what you can do is go into Sport mode manual then as your driving press the + button on shifter (SEL and Limited) or pull the right handle on the steering wheel (SHO) just before or at 5,500/6,000. I've had so many people tell me I'm an idiot for redlining, but you have to remember the cars today (ESPECIALLY FORD) limits the engine so much. but yeah, I hope you get to have fun in it. mine is slower in the video because I have my car mechanic things in the trunk and they're heavy
@@Jerone5740 I had a 2017 F-150 5.0 and in sport mode it went way past red line - Right now I'm dealing with a foot of snow so sport mode is not a good idea - but I will use the shift button next time I have the chance. I've been a Fordman for decades, and since '94 I've always had a truck or suv. This will be my 3rd Taurus (1st with AWD) so far I really like it. It's actually fun to drive, and the foot of snow posed no difficulty! Thanks for the welcome. BTW: I was with Ford when the Taurus was first introduced - I sold my dealer's 1st one to a guy who worked for GM! I also got to rag on a pre-production V-8 SHO at Ford's proving grounds, along with 5 liter Mustangs and T-Birds! It was great!

PD had to get rid of half their taurus’s cause some rings were coming off and leaving them stranded after having it idling for 12+ hours straight . that’s with the sho’s though. Some other cars i’d rather spend 20 grand on rather than a sho that’s why i got an sel.
There may be a device that can do it with the stock ECU but I believe the best way to have no speed governor OR to be able to adjust the top speed is to replace ECU and with a tune you can have your car go wild!! Always make sure that your vehicle components are in good shape as you add speed and or HP. The tunning shop rejected putting a turbo on my Taurus due to some minor things I've failed to address, so after I deal with everything I will go back and let them check engine out again.
Hey, so question: What do you think about the digital tach? I rented a 2018 Ford Fusion and I just didn't like that tach much. Felt small (almost like an after-thought) and a bit laggy sometimes.
Yeah 😔 it can lag here and there or move inaccurately, unlike my Ford 500 which had a Tachometer that looked just like the Ford Taurus speedometer. I have to admit though it does look cool and people who have older cars are like WHOA that's so cool
gotchya, tomorrow or later this week I'll do a quick... (well not to quick of a video) but a video showing how you can use it. there's SPORT automatic then there's SPORT Manual. Sport auto is when you just pull the shifter to S but DO NOT press the + or - on the shifter and it will do the work. and Sport auto (as i call it) is when you pull the shifter from D to S and then PRESS the + or - on the shifter, a safe tip until you are comfortable with it always press +. once you've learned how it works you will notice yourself pressing the - button after shifting to S

well im at 101,800k and still going strong... i replace my coolant now, i never have in the past. Just like my Transmission fluid I replace that either ever 30k or at the moment i fell a hard shift (before 30k) I'm about to get married in June 2021 so I pretty sure i wont be able to speed like i used to
Damn right idk if it’s really how hard you drive it but I bought my 13 Taurus from a 90yr old lady at 80k miles and by 87k I had to replace the pump and timing chains
The only things done were a K&N Cold Air intake which gives it that loud growl and kissing sound and had the exhaust cut and aftermarket exhaust pipe, resonator and mufflers put on. The mufflers gives a deep humming sound

Yeah it's a good buy in 2021 however look into 2016 and up as you will better enjoy SYNC 3 over SYNC 2. My 2013 has SYNC 2 and when I drive the Ford's with SYNC 3 I'm blown away by how quickly the system responds to touch
im not sure, but I THINK when in Sport mode the shifts come later/ gears are longer. To me Sport mode is louder and feels more aggressive, but Drive mode actually has a smoother feel
Oh yours has 2.77 gears all the other ones have 3.16 gears, btw it's fine to "redline" your car. The 3.5l doesn't actually redline at 6500, the actual redline with the 3.7 and 3.3 which are both the same exact engine just different bore the redline is set to either 6750 or 7000 RPM and stock they can hit 7,500 RPM but anything above that is risky
I've found that the cold air intake just makes more noise lol! And I have car jack and jack stands and subwoofers in trunk. "Some day" I will remove everything and do a CAI test and stockAI test but the times wont increase that much. I want the SHO and then I can upgrade that lol. I dont feel like investing much more money into this SEL Taurus
correct, a regular/non turbo 3.5 v6 but with K&N CAI and larger muffler and stainless steel pipe AFTER the Catalytic converter. the SHO would smoke this in almost 2 seconds faster 5.5 vs 7.2s 0-60

Mind you I love this car no major tranny or engine failure but that water pump is a 😈 and the shop told me next time they're charging me full price to replace the pump lol and that's not even the dealership lol Oh and I caught it in time, no water got in my engine but I did end up having to pay for wrecker to get car home then pay for another wrecker the next morning to take my car to the shop then dish out money's for parts and labor Ford should have been covering some of that but... idk

I hope the car does you well, mine has been good (no complete engine or transmission failures) but as far as tunes for our cars I'm not sure of any brands but I would do further research and be sure to use a brand that is trustworthy and has warranty. If I ever were to get a tune on my Taurus it would be done locally and Blow By Racing would be one of my top picks because I pass them on the way to work and home and when I went in to find pricing they were very nice to me but at the time told me I had to get spark plugs and other things done to the car first so it can be in tip top shape. I've already replaced the plugs and what's not but got busy with work. I feel local shop dyno and tune will be my choice because I would be able to visit the shop if I were to have an issue. But tunes that are done with flash drives to OBD2 and the driver has to run the vehicle on the street is just not for me, and if something goes wrong you have to email the tune place. Everyone is different, that's just me. 👨🏾🔧

My dad has the 288hp Taurus and I have the 285hp awd edge, it’s amazing how well the 3.5l accelerate

If your not comfortable with red line, that's okay. Trust me, take care of yours and it will take care of you

Keep those Rpms up on a regular your gonna need a waterpump spining that WP shaft at a high rpm regularly you wont see 100k out that pump.

Has your water pump failed and engine seized by now? I hate timing chain driven water pumps...
The pump still worked but leaked lol so it's in the shop now getting replaced along with every cam gear part and all 3 chains and new bolts

Its mostly the sound of the K & N cold air intake but I had my stock mufflers cut off and aftermarket mufflers were welded on

If you have the ability to, with your hand on the shifter, pull the shifter from park and gently pull to reverse, neutral, drive then to S for sport
