The thing that most RUclips channels ignore is the importance of page turn buttons. I know that the majority of Kindle owners don't care, but the ones that do care, REALLY care. I have a Paperwhite that I tried after my Voyage died. I hate it. I will not own another ereader without page turn buttons. If the buttons go away, I will switch to Nook or Kobo.
Completely agree, I still have my voyage but it’s really showing its age… and needs replacing. I had a paperwhite previously and bought my partner one of the base model kindles last year when she was dabbling with the idea of kindles… and I cannot stand not having the page turn buttons. I also refuse to pay the current asking price for an Oasis when the models below it now have better specs, the scribe is far too big for me to fit in my back pocket when out and about. If they don’t add another model with page turns will be switching to another company and trying to convert my existing library to their format 😢
My favorite e-reader remains the original First Gen Fire. Mostly a e-reader, but with a few tablet-y features. Much better than the two more recent Fires I have. What I would love is Kindle that resembles it--color, but without all the tablet features that bog things down.
I just chatted with an Amazon rep. He stated it’s not confirmed WHEN they will release THE new Kindle Oasis. He explained it is not if, it’s when. I take that to mean there will be a new generation Kindle Oasis in the future!! Yay?! Fingers crossed. Need those page turner buttons. I’ve got the 9th generation and it has issues. Don’t want to purchase a 10th generation from eBay if there will eventually be a new Oasis. 😊

My brother didn’t like his more recent generation Oasis and gave to me, which is bigger (and without battery cover) but I’m going to continue with mine until it completely gives up. Still, when (not if, lol) Amazon releases a new generation - sign me up.
I think it's going away. I've seen people mentioning online that the 32GB seems to already be gone in the US and Canada. I would think a Kindle Color would be next but Amazon hates an easy name so much if it happens they'd probably call it Overtone or Tincture or something.
I’ve had an Oasis since 2020 and would happily buy one again over the other models. I read standing up on public transport a lot and the form factor is perfect for that. More than a color screen, I’d just like USB-C and better battery life.
I go with the fire tablet all the way. I am not a huge sun-bather, so the glare the sun puts on the screen isn't a problem for me. I do run up against memory limits sometimes, but then I have around 4000 books on my kindle list, so I just drop them to the cloud a bit more religiously when I've read them, and the problem is fixed. I dont need to have ALL my titles downloaded all the time. Now mind, I don't do that many additional tablet functions with my fire, aside from internet browsing and watching videos. I'm not a gamer, and I don't use it for any production stuff. But it renders images really, really nicely. I have a few graphic novels, and they are particularly enjoyable on my larger fire (the small one is older and I carry it with me a lot - I keep thinking I'll kill it one day with my brutal treatment, but it's been pretty resilient so far).
Years ago, there was a table that was LCD on the front and e-ink on the back. Obviously, it didn't go anywhere. All I really want from a new Kindle Oasis is USB-C and faster refresh rates.
I love my Oasis, and I'd love a refresh. But I think Amazon is going to drop it and leave the Scribe as their premium model. Especially with how much they've built up the Paperwhite.
I think they’ll kill it. The paperwhite is close enough to the oasis that they don’t need the higher model with extra costs. The Kindle that would tickle my fancy is a Scribe sized screen without the pen. I hardly ever use the noting taking feature.

I wish the evil empire would make them cheaper, but unlikely. I've heard a rumour they're testing the Kindle Bezos. It's dull, lifeless and boring, and has a rather bald design to it too. 🤭🤭 Did you see what i did there?
I will try my best to find some other ebook reader. The kindle has left me with a pleasant reading experience, but I can not forgive amazon for how they manage software updates and the mandatory account. They see the kindle as a service somehow and they can update the software on my kindle even if I have airplane mode on.
I feel like they're either taking it out of the lineup entirely or we'll see a major update in display as well as some basic tweaks to other design features. The main thing I would see likely is probably color display. It's time for it. I don't see them breaking the mold and going foldable. If they did that, I think we'd see a new name too.

I nabbed one on ebay and one 'old new' stock one on Amazon when they had only one left for sale. :) I like my Oasis but the unbalanced feel of it always distracts me.
I think the next Oasis, if they come out with one, will have the same form factor, have usb-c, 8” screen and color e-ink. And they’ll call it something like Kindle Prism or another similar name that evokes color.
Color e-ink is not very cost effective. Foldable screen devices are the dumbest thing since unsliceable bread. Yeah, a fragile plastic screen with a hinge that breaks down and gets jammed up with gunk is great if you don't plan on owning it more than a year. And good luck putting a screen protector on that. Foldable screens are designed for morons who need the flashiest thing ever and don't mind their device breaking after 6 months. What are you on?

Yeah the battery life sucks. I LOVED the design of the Oasis 1 with the battery cover, I wish they'd got back to that

Given how the basic Kindle can handle enough books, the upgrade seems unnecessary.
I think it’s obvious at this point that the scribe has replaced the Oasis which is a shame because I’d love a new Oasis.
I use a kobo, and not a kindle, but I'd love a foldable color e-ink for reading comics no matter who makes it.
