I'm hearing buyers remorse with you and honestly give it time. I love my Oasis. Best E reader ever. I read books while walking my dog in the park and the buttons make that so much easier. I'd get a full back and front cover if I were you. I got one and covered that with stickers. It's lovely. Oasis is honestly the best.

I have mine since 2020 and still in love with it. No battery issues so far.
I have an Oasis and I keep mine in airplane mode it helps keep battery life longer.
I'm super curious to hear your thoughts on the oasis in the long run! Last year I was also in the market for an ereader with page turning buttons and landed on the pocketbook era and I loooooove it so much! It also has a menu and power button which I really like. The buttons are programmable so you can even change them to whatever you want!
oasis also has programmable buttons too (i think, at least to a certain extent) but overall i like it for the page turners and ergonomic grip but battery life is killing me! i might look into testing out the kobo, boox, and/or pocketbook, but kobo and pocketbook seem like it might be rough for me as someone who is so deeply ingrained into the kindle ecosystem unfortunately
My experience with the Oasis was not great. I got one right after Xmas and loved reading on it (loved the page forward/back buttons), but the battery life was awful. It barely held a charge for 10 hours. I returned it today and ordered a Paperwhite. Hope your experience is better!
agreed! my oasis lasts up to 1-2 weeks so far which is so bad compared to my paperwhite that i only really have to charge once a month (if not longer)
If you download a lot of your books at once the Kindle will need to process them for indexing. Due to this the first few days can be rough on battery life since people try to download a lot of their books.
Definitely agree. I never have to think about charging my PW Signature. But decided I wanted to see what the hype around the Oasis was. It surprises me and dies just because I’m used to rarely needing to charge my Paperwhite. I get maybe a week with my Oasis and get more like a month with my PW.
I recently got the oasis and I would say I like the weight and feel of the oasis over the paperwhite. I can read for longer periods of time with my oasis because of the light weight..... im currently using them both. With the recent release of the kobo Libra Color, I hope Amazon with release the Kindle Oasis Color!!!!
yes! apparently amazon is going to release a color one sometime in 2025 so we'll see how that compares to the kobo!
i also looked at other types of ereaders like kobo for their page turning buttons but decided to get a kindle because it’s the only ereader compatible with my library! very happy with my choice because 90% of the books i read are from the library
love the oasis but hate the battery life but i still have my paperwhite so it's not a big deal
I have a boox leaf 2 and a kobo clara 2e, I loveee them both! I got the kobo as a gift for Christmas and it was the perfect addition because I can keep using the boox for kindle and other apps like scribd, but now I also have the option of the compact size and better battery life in the Kobo. Because the boox uses android, the battery life is not nearly as good as a dedicated ereader, still way better than a phone tho.
do you think transitioning from kindle to kobo would be a lot? that was my biggest draw back with kobo even though design and price wise i would have gone with that over the oasis
@@justhana4779 If you have tons of purchased books that would be a big drawback of switching brands. I know it is hypothetically possible to remove the DRM from kindle books and transfer them but I think it is difficult. You can google calibre which is a tool people use for it if you're interested. As far as comparing the stores and stuff, the only big drawback of kobo is that the hyped books on KU are often under amazon exclusivity agreements. The regular Kobo store is very comparable to kindle, minus amazon's author monopolies.

unfurtunately the battery is a big problem...these kind of big screen should be have mor battery..I have a Kobo Libra 2 and i tried everything but the battery needs to be recharged once a week ( 7" with 1500mhA is really ridiculous)

You have bought the best Kindle! I prefer the fabric cover with the pinch grip, but I realize some folks can’t read without stickers 😂 Can’t beat Oasis ergonomics!

You do realize the Oasis is discontinued and years out of date. Why not a scribe
scribe is way too big for what i need, plus the main thing i was looking for was the page turning feature which the oasis has!
