Al, our 2011 traverse 3.6 has 209,500 on the original timing chains, we do full synthetic every 5-6k and we do not follow oil life remaining on dash, we do it before it comes up also the pcv breather is a common issue if it plugs they burn oil via intake/throttle body and so the biggest issue is checking and adding oil which a lot of people don’t do between filling up on fuel now mix not checking oil with going the 8-12k the dash may go by = low dirty oil and bye bye chains. I had a 2011 malibu 2.4 ecotec the 4 cyl notorious chain engine with 225k on the original timing set too but i messed up and used a synthetic blend went by the dash didn’t check oil but once a month and developed a chain rattle - that one i didn’t know.., it was my first car. I learned from it - it sadly got tboned still ran+drove when i sold it, but i keep a quart of 5w30 full synthetic in the traverse at all times
@@bigalsbikeandauto Dad goes 10k in his vehicles.. the traverse was once his and the 5 star mechanic he had who now retired ripped him a new one about the engines and notorious issues saying if he neglects it it wont last so they were just gonna trade it in.. We begged them not to and now we drive it but we do repairs and maintenance i just did all rotors pads and 2 front calipers. Transmission has shuddered since i first rode in it at 138k and is starting to slip when you go easy on it but is fine when you take off just a little faster. it still shifts thankfully no chain noises yet, But if the engine continues to run i may consider looking for a transmission, we drive it all over new england, new york, mass, connecticut, rhode island.. i don’t think the torque converter recall ever got done! They’re the second owners, transmission fluid is good been changed a few times. Just gonna let that transmission turn the wheels until it stops!
I bought an R56 Mini S manual from IAA Tampa from this storm. It’s a nice little car, have to replace a fuse box to get it running but it’s turning over fine.
GM remote start is lock it twice(two beeps), then just hold the remote start until the car starts. That's how I've done it on my GM vehicles and it works everytime unless the check engine light is on, then it won't work. My GMs will remote start with the hood open too.
Like I always say, it’s always refreshing when you upload a video, Al. The first generation SRX’s were the best ones. I do not care much for the second generations. Clean Ride!
I had a 2007 Saturn Aura XR 3.6 V6 with 6 speed automatic trans. Put approximately 150,000 miles on it. All original. I liked it so much I purchased a 2014 Chevy Impala Limited and told the dealer if it wasn't the 3.6 I was not buying it put 135,000 miles on that all original. After I trade that approximately a year later I keep hearing all the 3.6 horror stories. LOL I never had an issue preventive maintenance is key I did full synthetic oil changes at 3500 miles. I had a 2017 Chevy Equinox 2.4 did the same for that when I traded it did not burn or leak oil and never did. For me it was a great CUV.
I like watching your adventures with Flood Cars, as they aren't allowed to be registered here in BC. Here they are only allowed to be scrapped for parts. You've had great success with most of them that you put up on RUclips. Thanks.
G'afternoon Al 😇 . I think that's one of your nicest scores yet, that's awesome 🙃 . I recently scored a really nice excellent condition 02' GMC Envoy w/ 125k on the clock for $800 . 2 weeks later we drove across the country towing a trailer to move to Florida w/o issue 🙃 ..
Nice to see you back. I was hoping for some more rebuild videos on that drop top DTS, but this episode was good , too. Hoping you will post more often.
You need one of those reverse pressure washers that have two wheels and spin like a concrete pressure washer but shoot water up. So you can roll it back and forth and clean the unndercarraige like a automatic car wash
So this is a part of the reason why auto insurance is totally jacked in Florida. They're just striking checks at will! 🤦🏾♂️😩 On the bright side, an EXCELLENT find! She is gorgeous! I'll trade you my white FX45 if you gotta have that V8. Lol.
Great find. I was wondering if you were going to pick one up. The question is though.. Would you buy a flood/mud car like the ones that are in the NC/SC Coparts? IE the ones from Hurricane Helene.
Wow...watched/ran across the other one @ taking the SRX apart first. What a steal/deal and you lucked out on this one I'd say. I prefer the 3.6 actually. And this is a "4" all wheel drive. Interesting to find out about the 3rd row glass roof! Thank you for that, didn't know! But I would change all fluids (engine/trans/filters) asap and treat the underside, wheels and brakes/calipers/rotors if needed. So does this end up with a Salvage title?
This is going to be museum quality spec when you’re done with it. You never see there in Grade A condition anymore. Congratulations and look forward to seeing more on it 😎

I actually like the Northstar, other than oil leaks it's a solid engine, the smoothness is what sells it, I'd definitely like a Northstar SRX one day
