Dear friend, your roses are stunning! I have some of these too. Thank you for the wonderful video, many hugs to you. I watch you from Moscow, Russia. Take care❤❤❤
Lovely roses, thank you :) Can´t believe how big that Alexandra roses are! My most fragrant roses are Desdemona, Boscobel and Lady Emma Hamilton. I also love Lady of shalott! Where do you live, seems your roses do like it there?
Princess Alexandra is crazy HUGE! Thank you for sharing your list. I should get lady Emma and desdemona. English roses, are like wild roses, they need some cool temperate summers for the blooms to perform really well. I live at Pacific Northwest, Washington state USA with a similar temp to UK, or so I was told.
Your roses are so beautiful and healthy. I have some of the same roses but are not like yours. Like Abraham D. It smells lovely but spindly and not too many blooms. Your AD looks similar to Evelyn--which is one of my fav. I love Jude, Lady Emma, Strawberry Hills, Wedgewood, Golden C, and Claire Austin fragrances too :). My Carding Mills and Princess M have no scent! I'm a fan of DA roses too. Thank you for the video!
Interesting! I don’t have those roses you mentioned though Ihave seen their photos, iI am considering Jude and maybe Emma. . You are right, AD and Evelyn are so similar. Thank you for sharing your experience.
@@IsshaGreenThumbing Jude bloom almost year round for me and the blooms last longer on the bush. I've been trying to get another one but it's always sold out.
I use systemic in the early spring, then fish fertilizer about a month later, then banana peel around the bush, I also use soluble rose miracle grow fertilizer once a week. It’s a lot but DA roses are pigs!
I use miracle grow water soluble for roses once a week,, organic fish fertilizer every 3 weeks then 3 in 1 systemic fertilizer once every 1 and half month.
wow! I love your very beautiful garden! I agree with you that abraham darby is number 1 in regard of the fragrance . But I get a lot of Black Spot on that rose ... What is your secret in regard of black spot ... Your abraham Daydy seems to have NO Black Spot ?
I think my Carding mill smells the strongest now though, Thank you for appreciating my work. It’s easy to control black spot. I got around my roses and if I see even a single yellowed foliage, I snip it off right away to prevent spread. I clean the base of the bush so those infested leaves won’t compost and feeds the plant. We wanna avoid systemic health issue,
thanks @@IsshaGreenThumbing , this is the practice I am doing too , but with AD it is a never stop battle to the point that my rose has no more leaves ....
@@IsshaGreenThumbing mine ( I have 3 AD) are in pot , I also tried Bio Advance all in 1 , last year , without any improvement . I also tried all different stray approach (Neen , milk , etc) no improvement . I guess this rose is not good for my very humid climat ( Quebec , Canada) . All my other roses ( Kordes ) no problem at all ...
Hey! My climate is very humid too, I am thinking, the spores could be in your soil, you could change your soil by removing most of it from top and fill with fresh clean potting soil. I use miracle grow double bloom for potting soil. Hope your AD would be at best health!
My mother grew the evelyn variety when I was growing up, and I was so devastated to find out DA had discontinued it 😞 do you have any experience with rooting rose cuttings? If not, which of your varieties would you say smells most similar to Evelyn’s fragrance?
I grew my first rose from rooting, some variety root easier than others, I actually rooted Evelyn cutting in the summer. If you live close by I can give you a cutting. It’s a must have rose!
Do you recommend Getrude Jekyll as a first DA rose?? Im torn between Princess Alex and Gertrude J...more inclined to GJ for the fragance. Looking for a showstopper with strong fragance and big flowers. Thanks!
I personally would pick Alexandra than Gerty for numbers of reasons. 1. I am not a fan of its color and formation. 2nd of all. It has the deadliest thorns on earth!! 3rd despite its lovely smell, I got other roses like Abraham Darby that smells the best and it’s scents last longer. Lastly, I hate its growth habit. I planted it planned as a bush but i can see it is inclined to climb throwing loooong canes! It ruins my front yard landscape curb appeal since I am all about symmetry. Hope this helps.
May I ask what root stocks your Boscobel was grafted on to? Seems the one grafted onto multiflora root stocks is available around my area, but worried it may bring in the climbing gene to Boscobel.
Hey Judy, I got this from a local seller and I doubt it, any of the staff would know. they don’t even know what they are selling ..a rose fanatic has more background than a nursery staff 😜
What root stocks is it to graft on to for your Abraham D? Recently noticed that different root stocks may effect the final shapes, or event the fragrance of rose grafted on to them, thanks .
I got mine from an Etsy seller called garden living. Own root tiny start but it took off as a huge healthy rose bush full of such romantic delicate cupped rose blooms.
Consistent watering, fertilizing routine, deadheading, pruning, keeping bad bugs at bay by addressing the problem right away. Mulching, relying on symbiotic relationship to control pests since I don’t spray. Hope this helps.
Your roses are beautiful. Thank you for sharing!

Gerty likes to climb I find. Princess has far bigger flowers when it's established and it's fragrance is also wonderful old rose.
