Its a pity the present indian govt has refurbished repaired and painted the place, added a light and sound show giving it a complete face over and in the process have ignorantly molested and destroyef the entire austerity of the event the place experienced and the near sacredness of the site that had been preserved to capture the horror of the moment. The horrors have been whitewashed.

@@hungrybearcircus8427 do not spread false information here. I recently visited the place and I had visited the place in the past as well in year 2007 or so and yes it has been renovated. But the bullet marks are intact and preserved. Along with that I gained a lot of knowledge about Indian freedom struggles by reading and roaming around in the museum which was not there. There are more visitors and it has now captured the interest of people who want to know and read about our history. If you think Jalianwala Bagh could have been preserved from 1919 in the same state without any renovation, You are highly ignorant.

The well got overloaded and they didn't survive as they were unable to breath. Thus, they all died a horrific death."

That entire monologue of Bhagat Singh always gives me goosebump whenever I hear that. Some People just remember him for the symbol of violence and angry young man. But he was much more than that and he was an intellectual too. He was so mature at that age is just fascinating. I like when Udham Singh asks that what was that Britisher officer was doing at that age.

This movie really shows why Indians speak of Churchill and Hitler in the same sentence. As terrible as the Holocaust was, for many in India, British rule was even worse because it was LESS organized than the Holocaust, and spread out, nonstop, over decades. Everybody knew what the Nazis were doing with Jews, but nobody knew what was happening in India - and that's true to this day. And the Nazi appropriation of a sacred Hindu and Buddhist symbol affects Indian immigrants in different countries to this day.

First thing that came up in my mind when I was reading this chapter in my history lesson was 'how can Indian soldiers shoot their own people?' If I were in their place I would have shot the official even if it led to my death, you know juvenile thinking but years later I learned that these soldiers were Afghan and Gurkha. British Raj were good at their divide and rule policy where they exploited past tensions between Afghans and Sikhs or Hindus and Muslims. They say history is always written by "winners" but perhaps incidents like these are too sinful to bury.

This is just one of the famous massacres, more than 80+ massacres were committed by the British all over India. In the time period of 200 years when British enslaved India, more than 100 million people were killed directly (including children) and no count on in-direct (some statistics say 1 billion people) killings due to their policies, assaults, slave, r@pe and multilevel taxes on Indians. Nearly 45 trillion dollars was looted from India. India went from being the most richest country (had 25% of total world GDP) to one of the poorest countries when the British left (less than 1% of world GDP). *We may forgive, but we will never forget.*

Guys this was an amazing reaction as always. I would like to recommend some comedy movies since this was such a hard-hitting, real, historical masterpiece with heavy and harsh truthful message.
React to movies like De Dana Dan, Bhagam Bhag, Pk, Delhi Belly, Welcome

@29:50 this is too much what you've said here.
Nahzee Germany captured France during WW2, made some french soldiers fight for them. Does that make french slaves?
"Americans" were under British crown before 1776. Does that made all of them slaves of the British?
Chinese were under Japanese occupation for a long time. All the Chinese were slaves of the Imperial Japan?
Spain was under Islamic occupation for a very long period of time. All spaniards were slaves of Islamic tyrants?
I hope you understand what I am getting at.
It's a sensitive issue for us. Don't generalise things to this ridiculous extent.
The circumstances were such that things got unfolded the way they did.
Making remarks like "... eventually they were slaves..." , is like saying Red collar people of US during your Civil war who had their loyalties with the British crown, who fought with northern Blue collar liberals, were British slaves. Does that make any sense? It doesn't!
Same way there was a bipolarity in society at that time. Some wanted crown to stay some wanted crown to leave, India. The ones who were loyal proved their loyalties with British fighting in WW1 and 2. It doesn't at all mean that they were slaves and were forced to do so.
Apology is attested, if It sounds insulting or mean.
