  • In our Development Insights video we show details of latest IP mixing console AVATUS from STAGETEC, which redefines the workflow for audio engineers. The sensitive touch surfaces, high material standards for the control elements and the sustainable IP infrastructure NEXUS make it possible to work at the top level for decades. EventElevator wanted to find out more about the development and philosophy behind the AVATUS mixing console. For our Development Insights Video we visited René Harder (Managing Director), Jean-Paul Moerman (Director Business Development) and Florian Sitte (Presales Support Engineer) at the STAGETEC company location in Berlin. Furthermore, Holger Schwark (Tonmeister, e.g. at the Konzerthaus Berlin) shares his first experiences with the future-oriented AVATUS mixing console.

    Impressive , but touch sreen latency seems hight ?

      That's the first thing I saw and cool desk but that latency would be a deal breaker

      please be aware that most of the seen video shots are slow-mo. so you really cant see the actual response ;-)

      @@LeFix07 yeahhhh nice try but I really don't think that's the only issue here. the shot at 1:40 is real time and there is still massive latency..

      I have used the console. There is significant latency. @@LeFix07

      @@LeFix07 you're saying this in multiple comments, but the shot at 1:40 is clearly real time and that response time is still awful.

      I work so often with slow mo, some people are so slow and sometimes it is still slowmotion.

    Those screens are more like a cheap dollar store smartphone, not an iPhone. I use and Allen & Heath Avantis for a small music venue and it has lighting quick response like an iPhone and actually looks like the future.

    Interesting. I wonder how small scale you can go with this. The multi-operator feature is nice for film people. It'll have to stand up to Harrison MPCD setups.
    Concerning latency, I'm more concerned about how fast I hear what I'm doing and how high the temporal resolution of the automation is. I sometimes EQ syllables of dialogue differently. The workflow efficiency is always my greatest concern. It's one of the reasons my 'home' setup outside any studio is an amalgamation of controll resources that are placed where I need them and that function exactly how I want them to. I'd sure like to see more of a workflow demonstration. Euphonix did a good job of that back in the day.

      Hi Airon, it's possible to operate the console via web-GUI oder Mac-Software only, that's the smallest possible GUI solution. The smallest Hardware-Surface is the AVATUS-C, which consists of 12 Faders and a touch screen. The largest surface available is the one shown in the video, but with 96 Faders. The resolution of the automation is 10ms frames for preloading data which is then switched simulatiously or faded with individual times and curves if needed. If you like arranging the workflow yourself, you can define 8 custom strips where you can assign any parameter you want to the encoders, so you can have whatever you want right where you want it. If you'd like to take a closer look at the workflow, please get in touch with us through www.stagetec.com !

      depends on Desk size , and then how strong the core is and then how much I/O Basedevices . with big system you easily over a Mill.

    Ok, nobody gets the Titel, its an Development insight Video, something like Screens , Sensitivity and UI are easily changed. Important is a very fast and easy Workflow, that's something Stagetec has to do right coming from an Aurus Paltinum, and working with an Console currently in BETA there are worlds to do better in this generation and that's where they have to nail it

    For that expensive equipment why is the touch latency too high? That would be irritating!

    • @danielschindler6536
      @danielschindler6536 2 года назад

      Hi, you're right, it would be irritating if it would actually feel wrong when working on the console. But it just doesn't. If you're sitting on it, listening to audio (which reacts immediately), it's a very smooth experience. Does "going full IP" and distributing components in a network add latency to certain things? Yes, sure, can't argue about that. ...but, remember all these discussions when AoIP became a thing? ...turned out it's really just fine once everybody realized how much easier life is once the soldering iron can stay at home :)
