- The NATURE ONE Festival at the legendary Pydna rocket base in Kastellaun has been a real institution since the 90s. From EDM to trance and harder techno genres - you can get a pleasant bass massage at every corner. On the mystical ex-military site, it's possible to dive into small techno bunkers or rave in what is probably the world's largest fresh air club - the open air floor. The special feature: a large, pyramid-shaped truss construction overhead ensures that techno fans are also pushed from above. Lighting Designer Marek Papke explains for EventElevator how he and the GERDON design team plus technical service provider schoko Pro implemented this year's NATURE ONE main stage design. Technical Director Jens Diefenbach (4D performance) also reveals exciting details about the stage construction. Further technical support was provided by the experts from Stageco (stage construction), Laserfabrik (lasers) and FOG fireworks + sfx (pyro and effects). The organizer and promoter of NATURE ONE is the company I-Motion.

The aged missile base is definitely always worth a visit at the massive NATURE ONE festival. The crews show a massive amount of dedication to creating the stages year after year. It's nice that it is now used peacefully and only light fixtures and PA sound speakers are launched here ☮️✌️

Thanks! We have a mix of different cams, but mainly Sony FX3 in combination with lenses with fixed focal lengths with good speed (1.4, 1.8).
What was the reason behind choosing mode 2 over mode 3 on the MA? Not to disregard MA2 as a platform (currently touring in Mode 2 on 3 hardware) but I’d think some of the features in Mode 3 would make sense to have to make life easier.
Also were the single pixel fixtures driven by the MA and the fx engine or via Art-Net through Resolume?

Thank you for asking. We'll find out for you and ask again. I know that the Gerdon Design crew are now running many of their current projects entirely in MA3 mode. Especially with pixel-intensive programming, this has many advantages. Stay tuned, we'll be in touch.
@@EventElevator thanks guys! Yeah especially for EDM a lot of my friends (that do some of the largest EDM acts here in the US) have been running mode 3 exclusively for the past 2+yrs and even on the festival side I’ve seen more mode 3 than 2 this year for the first time.
And knowing that gerdon design usually is on the forefront of things in Germany I was just surprised to not see mode 3 with this many pixels.
And also huge thanks for the continued awesome content. Always makes my heart happy to see the German Entertainment industry still going strong, where I had my start almost 20 years ago.
Icj bin enttäuscht vom Design, Jedes jahr diese Pyramide, meiner Meinung nach keine Originalität mehr vorhanden. Was nicht heissen soll die arbeit ist schlecht, ist natürlich trotzdem top was jeder dort leistet. Als ich anfing zur Nature zu gehen war das jedes Jahr ein Highlight den Openair floor zu sehen, z.B 2009 war absoluter Wahnsinn. Und nun: sieh an eine Pyramide! 😢
Wie immer gilt: Es wird gestellt, was bezahlt wird ;)

Unfortunately, you're right that the design has been slimmed down somewhat. Certainly partly for budget reasons. But the crew made the best possible use of the available resources. And the rig over the head is still cool.

The PA is not the best, you can hear better elsewhere.
Bei 09:26 sieht man in den Visuals den Schriftzug "neelix" und die Showcontrol. Auf dem Monitor sieht man den Track "Nature_One_2024_01.wav", der eine Laufzeit von 50 Minuten hat. Bedeutet dass der Künstler neelix gar nicht live gespielt hat, sondern einfach nur vorne stand während sein vorab aufgezeichnetes Set lief?

Würde mich nicht wundern. Als ich vor Jahren noch in Leipzig gewohnt habe und dort Events gearbeitet habe, haben wir viele Shows für ein bekanntes DJ Duo aus der Umgebung gemacht und unser Running Gag war „der goldene USB Stick“ weil jedes set prerecorded war.
