    Thanks for watching Riles, glad you enjoyed this, a bit different from our usual "Ticking Timebomb" series.
    For this shoot we used a Canon 5DMkII with some L-series lenses. Magic Lantern OS. Glidetrack. Premiere Pro for editing w/ After Effects (although usually it's FCP). Hope that helps! :)

    Fun fact: the 1.6 petrol THP engines (code named 'the prince') are made in a collaboration program with BMW, Peugeot shared some experience on the economy diesel side, and BMW shared experience in performance petrol, the petrol side result of this collaboration is the 1.6 l turbocharged engine which can be found mainly in Peugeot/Citroen and Mini (I think also BMW 120i and 320i have this engine - 177 hp) and has a range of power from 155 hp up to 270 hp (in the Peugeot RCZ R and 308GTI)

    understandable, the -07 pugs are really terrible, but the fact is that their new cars are improving not only with interior quality but reliability as well, whatcar's recent survey says that peugeot is the most reliable brand from europe with the exception of ford, im a huge M3 fan but i still love french cars for their honest and rather special looks that sets itself apart from other cars.

    i think it looks pretty good, and while it's only 200bhp, it's a torquey one.

    I had a G plate 1.9 GTi, and bloody loved it. To this day I've not driven anything that comes close to the fun. I'm trying to convince my lad into getting this 208. The great great grandson of the best hot hatch ever ❤

    That's great feedback, TheCompyshop. It's one of the reasons why we've gone back to fuller, longer, more detailed reviews, like this 208 GTi one. At least we know we're back on the right lines :)

    Death trap on the front wheels, you do realise you then recommended another front wheel drive car, the VW Golf? I'm not putting the Golf down as it's a very good, desirable, capable car, but why then have a go at the Peugeot, the Golf has plenty more ponies under the bonnet?

  • @TheCompyshop

    The ticking timebomb videos honestly aren't great. They are way too short and rushed. Actually, I hate them. This review was so much better. Take your time. If I had a say in it, I would stop making the ticking timebomb videos.

    I wouldn't quote a VW Golf as a 'death trap' the new MK7 is very controllable and safe and only a fool or idiot with a heavy right foot could make it a 'death trap'.
    Also just because a 1 Series is rear wheel drive doesn't make the car automatically better than a front wheel drive car! Have you seen a Renault Megane 265??

    Is that BMW designed THP engine still garbage? When I was looking into hot hatches to buy, that THP engine and its inadequate timing chain tensioner was the source of many engine failures in cars that used this engine. They were struck off my list due to this very engine. Question is, have things changed as regards the tensioner design on this engine?

    • @stevebroughton4787
      @stevebroughton4787 4 года назад +1

      All sorted now......had timing issues on my 207 GT.
      All OK on the 208 GTi.

    Where's the "10 reasons why you should buy a lorry instead of a car?"

  • @Russki46
    @Russki46 11 лет назад

    How is the steering wheel feedback? With all the new hatches this always feels to distant.
    I think the philosophy of a hot hatch has gone wrong the last years. Too much gadgets and the car drives "itself" (TC, ESP, ASR, etc...)
    Regarding the sound it's as generic as every turbo engine.
    The essence of driving has gone in this segment. (=dullness)
    If you want a good driving hot hatch you should stay within the 90's or early 2000 range. Just my 2 cents ;-)

  • @jaspersa4987
    @jaspersa4987 11 лет назад +10

    Lol Honda makes the best hot hatches no question... EK9? EP3? EG6? Not saying the Peugeot is bad but Honda is better with hot hatches.

      Like he said stop dwelling in the past and look into the present and future look at the fierce mini JCW's the fiesta st and now a new addition to compete with the Peugot 208 GTI.

    • @jaspersa4987

    • @chrisrobinson5951
      @chrisrobinson5951 10 лет назад +8

      Jas Persa It might well do, but while the mini and Peugeot look smart, the ep3 are driven by complete dicks who think their faster than everyone else! FACT!

    • @jaspersa4987
      @jaspersa4987 10 лет назад +2

      chris robinson I also like to pull ''facts'' out of my ass. I have an EP3 and so do a few other people in my town and they are not assholes or think they are faster, what makes you even say that? I am an active user on the Type R forum and i have never seen anyone brag that his EP3 is soo soo fast. You're problably a jealous idiot. I might aswell say that Minis are driven by Hipsters and Peugeots are driven by people too dumb to buy a french car. Maybe the 206 GTI is a fun car and whatnot but the French got absolutely nothing on the Germans, Japs or even Americans. Focus ST for example.

      Ahmet karasu Ahmetkarasu and ***** 2011 Focus RS has a 2.5L 5 cylinder turbo engine, the exhaust is build to match the engine and the same engine commonly see 400bhp. It's one of the best modern day fords

    French cars a built like Chevys. They will break, and the parts are quick, cheap and easy to swap. German cars are built to never break, so for the first 5 years they're the best in reliability. Then things start to break, and because they're not designed to be fixed, the parts are difficult and expensive to replace.

    For a Peugeot it looks quite okay, Although I think Peugeots are the ugliest cars made in Europe. No matter how good this peugeot is, it will never beat a VW golf GTI, the only original GTI, and the first real hot hatch.
    Btw, a little mistake by you guys, you showed a 205 Turbo 16 when talking a bout the 205 Gti, which are two different cars.

    • @rui518

      ***** Apart from that with the maserati they really meant Gran Turismo Iniezione. The meaning of the abbreviation GTI has nothing to do with the GTI hatchbacks. VW stamped it on their Golf 1 hot hatch and now it has become a synonym for hot hatchback that is stylish, composed, clever and minimalistic.
