Instead of testing physical limits, you test your skill at the game. I do, I would even kick the ball myself, seems like you never had fun playing an actual sport, you must be either deprived of muscles or fat as a pig, because of you physically lazy lifestyle. Balance is important, you should train your body and mind through competing in regular physical sports. And the leisure of gaming and the competitive online pvp setting can be a place to train your mind on top of that, it at least beats the passive watching of TV or listening to music. Although once in a while you can give yourself some rest by doing one of the latter or you could just do something creative or read instead which would be better.

People play competitive pool, poker, chess, fishing, archery, and more non of which are highly physical yet require incredible skill to do at competitive levels, gaming is no different. It actually does. Most esports games are done on PC because the console ports of these games have aim assist embedded in the game. It's designed for the majority of kids who will be playing on console to actually be able to aim, because in all honesty without it CoD on console wouldn't be a thing due to how difficult it would be to aim. Rocket league however doesn't require aim assist so esports can be played on console for rocket league with no problems.

I do, I would even kick the ball myself, seems like you never had fun playing an actual sport, you must be either deprived of muscles or fat as a pig, because of you physically lazy lifestyle. Balance is important, you should train your body and mind through competing in regular physical sports. And the leisure of gaming and the competitive online pvp setting can be a place to train your mind on top of that, it at least beats the passive watching of TV or listening to music. Although once in a while you can give yourself some rest by doing one of the latter or you could just do something creative or read instead which would be better.

@@bakersmileyface Words evolve over time and dictionaries only provide a snapshot of what a word means at the time it was written. Snooker and shooting are undoubtedly considered sports because they require skill, but very little physical exertion. So already that definition is outdated.
You may argue that the two sports above still require at least some physical exertion then so do videogames.
You may argue that moving computer mice and pressing buttons is less physically demanding than aiming a gun or handling a cue stick but then the difference between esports and traditional sports is one of degree, not a clear distinction. What if we increase the physical exertion required to play videogames? For example, why should shooting be a sport just because you have to lift a gun and not an arcade machine shooter with fake guns? Both require physical exertion and skill and can be competitive.

I mean its not an ‚intellectual sport‘ as i understand it. Of course there are a lot of smart people playing video games, who develop amazing strategies and outplay their opponents, but being smart is not a requirement. Its more about the skill and endless hours of dedication the players put in to become the best. Its like ‚regular sports‘ in that sense. Its just another set of skills thats needed

@@christhis9597 I've heard there's been a study that said something in lines that most of pro League players have high iq. Also if you understand high level of play you can see how complicated the game actually is. Pro players never play by their instinct. They actively think about whats most likely to happen, just like chess players do. If you consider chess and maybe even poker an "intellectual sport" you should definitely consider gaming that aswell

People play competitive pool, poker, chess, fishing, archery, and more non of which are highly physical yet require incredible skill to do at competitive levels, gaming is no different. These people are just so isolated and have no clue about gaming in general and see it as stupid, but guess what, football is fighting to move a ball past a line... It's just so culturally ingrained and praised that you don't ever think about how pointless it is, yet DOES require skill like gaming or any other sport.

Why do you think it is? Physical strength, endurance and agility are not required to be a good archer. (Don't make the argument that they help, those help in everything you do, even taking a shit)

Esports is a sport by definition it’s a game of physical skill (hands, eyes, the brain working to make strategies) and mental skill ( the strategies are applied to past encounters and the hand moves without thinking, and the eyes tracking the enemy player)

It actually does. Most esports games are done on PC because the console ports of these games have aim assist embedded in the game. It's designed for the majority of kids who will be playing on console to actually be able to aim, because in all honesty without it CoD on console wouldn't be a thing due to how difficult it would be to aim. Rocket league however doesn't require aim assist so esports can be played on console for rocket league with no problems.
