"I completed the entire game with the pro controller and I found that it works very very well." Whelp, that eliminated my doubts. Definitely getting it now.
I played both the original and this one the motion controls are also improved and way more responsive than the original both are a good choice this time around. Hell I killed the final boss in half the time I used to take.
The whip is a bit finicky with the pro controller. Koloktos was a pain since the whip likes to freak out sometimes, but flying is so much better. Koloktos was my only finicky boss, the rest were largely easier.
I honestly feel the game is best experienced with motion controls. The control stick works, but I found in finicky when trying to do more precise swordplay. The bamboo mini game becomes problematic since the spin attack is mapped to a quick back and forth motion on the control stick, causing me to spin attack when I’m trying to just swing back and forth. Ghirahim and Demise are similarly problematic since they follow your sword and you’re supposed to lead them with one way and attack from another direction. I find it harder to do that since the slashes are mapped to control stick flicks, so I sometimes slash when I’m trying to just move my sword to the opposite side. That’s just my personal experience, of course.
Fun fact: there is a love letter for link on Zelda's desk confirming the romantic relationship between the duo Use Hookshot to get into the air ducts in the dorm rooms. Drop thru ceiling into Zelda's room. Look on the desk
Well she did want to tell him something important before she was sucked into that tornado. Anyway it's obvious that not only are they into each other but they become the Adam and Eve of the surface and make Hyrule from scratch, they become the royal family. Links crimson loftwing's color on Hylia's crest becomes the crest of the royal family of Hyrule, symbolizing the union of Hylia and her hero.
@@nworder4life how are they like Adam and Eve when there are dozens of other characters? And Link is never part of the royal family and has no romantic relationship with Zelda in any of the other games...
@@pokemonduck Link and Zelda have romantic relationships in many of the zelda games. Skyward sword: they re populate the earth and start the royal family. How do you know? Well besides the fact that Link and Zelda are the only 2 people that live on the surface and vow to watch over the triforce together. The Hylian royal family crest is Hylia's wings in Links crimson loftwing color, this symbolizes the union of 2 people into a new family crest. There's a reason why all the Zelda's have powers and that's because they inherit the blood of the Goddess, meaning Skyward Sword Zelda had children and it should be obvious who she'd do that with if you play the game. Not to mention there aren't any humans on the surface anymore, Skyloftians are the only humans left and even Groose leaves to go back to Skyloft once Impa dies. The ending of the game heavily implies it's just Link and Zelda on the surface. Link to the past: A Link between worlds rumor guy says the princess wants to be just like the princess in the past who had a relationship with her knight, confirming that ALTTP zelda and Link became a couple. Link between worlds zelda probably ends up with her Link because of this. Oracle games: Link and Zelda interact with hearts above their heads(these 2 are most likely the same Link and zelda from ALTTP) Links awakening: the same LInk from the oracle games, Link is shown to care and think about Zelda while on the island. It could even be said since Link is sharing the windfish's dream that Malon is Links manifestation of his feelings for Zelda, you know just like how Links final enemy is Ganon that comes purely from his mind/nightmares. Wind waker and phantom hourglass: Spirit tracks tells us of the new Hyrule/land mass created by Tetra, who else would she have babies with? Spirit tracks: Link and Zelda hold hands at the end of the game. Zelda 2 the adventure of Link: the sleeping princess zelda kisses Link as the curtain closes. BOTW: There's way too many confirmations in that game that Zelda loves Link but see NintendoBlackCrisis BOTW Zelink videos for that.
also, there's two cutscene themes for then zelda and link are together at the start of the game. the two themes are called romance, and romance in the air
The motion controls definitely felt better in this remaster. While you have to adjust them more than I prefer it also only takes a single press of the Y button. Though the nicest improvement would probably be that using the thrust attack is a lot easier. The sensor bar back on Wii always seemed to have a bizarrely difficult time recognizing that maneuver.
@@chriskoloski32 well it's because people often move their hand from the origin, the point at which they pressed the Y button. Even just slightly positioning the controller somewhere else can throw off aim, causing you to have to recalibrate, but it's really not a problem with how it's handled
It’s true the thrust on the Wii is a little unresponsive but the calibration was a lot cleaner on the Wii as it used the sensor bar to recalibrate the motion controls based on where your tv was I have also seen that certain movements on switch being more cumbersome because it requires more precision than expected for it
I feel like a lot of people never gave SS a chance either because of the motion controls or because they heard a negative review and so they assumed it was bad. Everyone I know who has played the game loves it, me included
@@Howitchewstofeel5gum let’s play a game where we review the meaning of the words “a lot”. Typically, these words when used together imply many, or most members of a group, not 100% of them
@@Jason-mg3fk We could also play a game where you don't resort to childish, patronizing pedantism to obscure the implications of your original comment, how about that ("Everyone I know who has played the game loves it")? But even if we focus on "a lot of people", that doesn't actually invalidate my reply in any way, in case you hadn't noticed. ;)
I think this might be my favorite Zelda game. And there are a ton of reasons why. The feeling of swinging a sword while awkward at times is still really satisfying when it works. It’s arguably the most story focused game in the series with Zelda being much more developed and Link being much more expressive, therefore more personality. The dungeon designs are some of the best in the series. And aside from the motion controls, I think most of the common complaints about this game can be said about most of the Zelda games.
Fully agreed. And can we plz talk about the characters' visual design? Every single character in this game is a uniquely sculpted delight (assuming you don't mind the adorably wonky, almost Psychonautsy art style), and moves in their own expressive fashion: the shopkeep tiptoes, the pumpkin farm lady dances in place, the item storage lady sighs with her head in her hand. I love them all. I love them literally ALL.
I asked him years ago if he would complete this game shortly after he did his defend it on it. Years later I finally got my wish, thank you so much for this Jirard. This made my day.
This was my first time playing SS and I absolutely LOVED IT. I finished the regular game to 100% and plan to replay it on Hero Mode sometime in the future (Probably right before BOTW2 to refresh my memory). I swear I'm the EXACT target audience for this game. I only got into Zelda about a year ago, and have only finished BOTW, LTTP (with the Rewind feature on NSO [No, I'm not ashamed]), and now SSHD. I'm ABSOLUTELY picking up BOTW2 when it comes out and I am SO excited for how it'll (hopefully) tie into SS. Thanks again Jirard for another great episode!!!
botw 2 might end up being the most important game to the zelda lore, because they're probably gonna go farther into voice acting, allowing to be much more expansive with the lore and story
@@macdeleon3717 I sure hope so! One thing I'm hoping for is to be slightly less expansive than BOTW and leaning more into story and mechanics. For me personally, I felt BOTW was a little bit overwhelming with all the things to do.
This game was my introduction to the Zelda franchise when I was about 8. I beat the game and never had major issues with the motion controls on the Wii. I thought the game looked beautiful, the characters were near perfect, the story was endearing, and the music was a cut above the rest, but then again I didn't really have much of a frame of reference back then. I was ecstatic when the remaster was announced, but also worried that the only reason I liked the game was nostalgia. Boy was I wrong. The artstyle is still one of my favorites. The newly polished models look incredible, making my jaw drop at some of the more cinematic cutscenes. I love that button controls were included, but motion will always be my preferred play style because it felt so much better and nearly every input was read correctly. I had forgotten how much I loved the game's soundtrack, as well as the relationship between Zelda and Link, as well as all of the citizens of Skyloft. The dungeons in this game are some of my favorite in the series, with Lanayru Mines and Sandship being my personal favorites. This remaster was what I needed to make myself realize that this is my all time favorite Zelda game.
In terms of the Zelda and loftwing amiibo. It is so worthless for literally anything except maybe speed running. Not once have I ever been walking around in skyward sword and think "man, that bird statue is right there to take me to the surface, but I wish it was 5 seconds faster" and not once have I ever wanted to leave a dungeon in the middle of completing it
@@Gamer1288 even then theres so many bomb flowers around and I barely used the first two shields and had the upgraded Goddess Shield pretty early on. Coming from Botw, I did a lot of scavenging for the items needed to upgrade.

My personal favorite Link and Zelda dynamic is Age of Calamity. While they weren't childhood friends, they do spend the entire journey together and it feels so much more personal, especially with Zelda's much more active role in protecting Link as much as he protects her. Even if you don't plan on Completing it for the show, I highly, highly recommend playing it.
Honestly, after the vid on Hyrule Warriors definitive edition, I wouldn't be surprised if Jirard never wanted to touch another Warriors game ever again, Zelda or otherwise.
The honesty that you’ve shown in this review, shows me that you’re most likely not being bought out by big companies like Nintendo, and staying true to yourself. This my good Sir, is what makes me one of your Subscribers for life. Jolly good show! I might get this when it goes on sale. Huzzah!
Please name a Nintendo game that has not gotten a favourable review on this channel. He even claimed Star Fox Zero was good LMAO. Now I don't think he's being "bought out" per se, but he most certainly doesn't want to damage his relationship with Nintendo which entails getting advance review copies, being invited to events etc.
Nice to see the building blocks that would serve as Breath of the Wild's foundation. Sometimes you gotta get some stuff wrong in the past to get it right in the present.
A phrase also kind of true for Breath of the Wild, since it's the first time they made an open world Zelda, and has some issues of its own. But because Breath pushes the concept of freedom and other philosophies pretty much to the breaking point, it gives them a really good blueprint for what they can improve in the sequel. :)
@@theoaremevano3227 the first Zelda game was like an open world game. You could do the dungeons in random orders and go just about anywhere depending on your items and when you got them.
I remember finishing Skyward Sword with my brother when it first came out. The motion controls were definitely frustrating, but not so much that we wouldn't finish a main Zelda title
The boss key concept was absolutely amazing, it had two fantastic dungeons, and Koloktos was a fantastic boss. Groose was a great character, and Demise was a fantastic final boss. And yes, the pro controller is a great investment.
Love that they released this, but sad we didnt get anything for the 35th when mario did..... really wanted OoT, MM and either TP or WW as a triple pack

I always loved Skyward Sword, it's always been one of my fav Zelda stories and I love the characters. My best friend and I always talked about it at school and how much we loved it. I got it for Christmas in 2011 and I did never beat it sadly, mainly because I'm left handed and Nintendo does not know how to make motion control games for left handed people. So I always thought the combat was difficult for me, and I had always struggled with motion controls in general, but I'm excited to get this version with the stick controls so I can actually beat it this time, altho to be fair I can literally beat it right now because I beat the skyview temple and got to where you fight demise, but the next day I did that they announced it coming to the switch , so I'll just wait to get it on the Switch. I'm gonna wait to get this game for Christmas this year because I think that will be funny and more memorable for me to get the remake for Christmas just like I got original a decade ago.
Slight correction, the game on Wii gave you item info the first time you picked an item up each play session, not every time. The cutscene used to be like 3 times slower too lol. Great video Jirard
Nintendo's relationship with the "Official Zelda Timeline" is rather wishy-washy. At the time the original Skyward Sword came out, they took the Timeline very seriously. Every art piece and dialog bit in Skyward Sword was directly connected to the Hyrule Historia book, which was released around the same time. Some time later, when Breath of the Wild came out, the Timeline was all but abandoned. The official stance was "It's the end of all three timeline branches" and the multi-branch references were downgraded to just "legends". If the rumours are true that Breath of the Wild 2 is strongly connected to Skyward Sword, I hope that also means that Nintendo will return to taking the Timeline more seriously. Most fans love the Timeline, as do I.
I feel like either Aonuma or Miyamoto said once they felt mild regret at confirming a definitive timeline because it "made things more restrictive for the narrative," which might be why BotW just went "don't worry about the timeline now, we'll deal with it whenever." I can see what they mean because I recall when former Castlevania producer Koji Igarashi said he regretted confirming a definitive timeline for the Castlevania series because now he felt like some of his more "out there" ideas wouldn't fit in with established lore (dude already had to retcon a few games out of the timeline for the sake of others, like Legends was made non-canon when Lament of Innocence was developed as the official beginning of the timeline, and the N64 games became a case of "maybe they happened, maybe they didn't, I don't know").
The way I see it- there's some event we haven't yet seen that unifies all three timelines into a single worldline once again. That's very interesting to me, and I'd love to find out more about what happened to unify it all.
I just gave up on the timeline entirely and just treated games like the Final Fantasy franchise. Each game is different and isn't connected unless it's a direct sequel or stated otherwise in-game itself.
Nintendo has never ever taken the Zelda timeline seriously, they will retcon it forever to keep adding more games. They only seemingly took it seriously around Skyward Sword's release in order to make people buy the Hyrule Historia. People aren't going to buy your timeline book if you say the timeline is useless. The series is called the LEGEND of Zelda. It is basically the same tale told over and over again with different variants appearing over the ages. Sometimes it is set in a land, sometimes it is set in the sea, sometimes it is set in the sky, but there are always the recurring elements of the hero, the princess and the villain. Like in real life there are many similar variants of myths and legends. The series is not called ''The Thoroughly-Documented Chronicles of Zelda''!
The timeline is a complete mess because it was never a priority when developing these games. HH was only made to please obsessive-compulsive superfans, who are the only people who care about this stuff. Everybody else just plays the games, has fun, and then gets on with their lives. IMO, the series would even be better off without the timeline. As another comment mentioned, it's restrictive for the devs, and it's also confusing for newcomers to the series. They learn about some "official timeline" and get excited about an ongoing story, only to learn that it's a complete shit-show and not at all what they expected.
I actually like Skyward Sword more than Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask, but I also think that it’s vastly inferior to Wind Walker and Twilight Princess.
Skyward Sword is my favorite Zelda game. Idk, just something about the combat, the story focus... it really clicks with me! I've always loved the motion controls too. So fun
Ten years later and I find I still have a silly smile on my face while playing this game perhaps in realisation of how remarkable and satisfying most Zelda games really are.
The lore alone makes this game worth while! Really well written and the dungeons have cool themes, like the Buddhist parable theme that Austin John Plays explains wonderfully. Loving this game so far.
I retired my Wii ages ago and had only gotten about halfway through the game at that point. I'm so glad they put this out on switch - it allowed me to really thoroughly enjoy this game and now it's one of my faves! Great vid, thanks man
This game and along with twilight are more about it's characters and the relationship between them. And how it effects the series as a whole. As much as I love BOTW, it still feels barren in comparison to these games. Midna's character and relationship with Link has yet to be topped imo.
im almost done with skyward sword HD, im doing the song of the hero right now, and honestly when i needed to hit the sky, a bird statue was close, so it never really bothered me
Glad to see another decent review of this game. I loved the original Skyward Sword. I had a lot of memories in my dorm room at college playing it on the Wii and had a fun time with the game. I did two full playthroughs back then and completed it. And I'm going to do the same to the HD version as well.
I really liked the motion controls in the original Skyward sword and didn't seem to have any trouble using them consistently. There was a bit of a learning curve but they brought a lot to the experience for me.
From my experience, the only people that actually had problems with them either a) had additional lights that messed up their sensor bar, and/or b) didn't actually read the instructions on how to use the controls correctly/take the time to do so, so they just waggled around like any other game and wondered why it didn't work.
What I don't like about this is how they all go "Who are you? Oh, prove that you are the Hero" And then they go "Oh, Hero! Welcome back! Now prove that you are the Hero" And then after all of that they go "Yeaaaah, you need to prove you are the Hero again. Go on." I only played it once, maybe I don't remember accurately but that was my genuine experience with this game. I'm not picking it up again. Not when I have randomizers of much more fun games that actually respects the player.
I'm sad that this game killed off the left handed link which up to this point had been Links dominant hand. As a fellow left handed person it's just a bummer
I appreciate you completing this Jirard. It was all I could do to not watch this prior to finishing the game on my channel because I wanted to experience the complete story spoiler free. I've gotta say, this is one of my favorites now when I didn't think it would be. Great job Nintendo!
Glad you clarified you can play this whole game with a pro controller cause as much as people love the motion controls i've never been a big fan of them that's why I skipped the starfox game on wii u. I'm glad now Nintendo is giving us the option and not forcing it on us, I think that's why the switch has sold so well cause it can be for casual gamers or hardcore gamers alike.
Worth 60 for me. I missed out on Nintendo since SNES. I was pro Sony. But after getting the Switch just to play BOTW, It has opened my eyes and I have since picked up some retro Nintendo. Gamecube,Wii and 3DS. Awesome video.
I remember when it came out. I didn't get it because I didn't have a Wii at that time. When I finally got to play it I loved what I played but I never finished it as it was borrowed from the library. And my now ex wife spoiled it for me getting mad at me for playing it when she wasn't around. It's good to hear I might have a remastered version of it to play when I finally get a switch again. Thank you Jirard.
This will never not be my favorite zelda game. I loved it when I played it ten years ago and I still love it now and it feels better than ever to play it with all the improvements. Crazy to think this was half my life ago. 10 year old me had no idea that playing Skyward Sword would get me hooked on LoZ forever
Even with the added option for the motion controls, there needed to be more options for it. Like some people love motion for sword and/or aiming, but not with swimming, flying, balancing etc. These feel gimmicky for some people. There needed to be more options for those in the menu I do hope the options gets patched in, but I highly doubt it
@@Howitchewstofeel5gum i do agree with you there. Though weirdly they are miles ahead when it comes to treating their employees decently. Nintendo is the definition of the half glass thing in terms of the video game industry
@@Dharengo yes there is. But I think sword swinging motion controls is also tied to all of the other gimmicky motion controls I listed before. There just needed to be more motion control options
Wind waker is a combination of ocarina of time and a link to the pasts artstyle. Twilight princess was a combination of majoras mask grittyness and the original design of link. Skyward sword is a combination of wind waker and twilight princess, Breath of the wild is a combination of skyward sword and ocarina of time.
I love this game and I have no problems with the motion controls at all. I played it again on my switch WITH the motion controls and had a lot of fun again. It worked perfectly fine for me. I didn't use the right stick mode at all and I don't regret it.
Good for you. Every time I use the bug it wishes to go to the side of the screen. Every time I try flying with it I have to swing my way forward instead of flying in a straight line because the controls simply won't let me. Twist the items and slot them in the hole is a nightmare with motion control. Fly the bird is an experience, and not a fun one since the game doesn't properly explain how to fly. Half the game I had no chance going from the ground to the clouds and back to Skyloft, was suffering just about the clouds until the bird decides to dive and hide. My sword swings are doing 1 thing, while i keep swinging my joycon from side to side, and never lets it me doing what I'm trying to do. When I've done the story I ain't touching the game anymore, the controls are simply just too bad.
@@zilvertron What are you even doing when trying to play the game? 95% of the time when people complain about motion controls, it's because their technique is bad. Just use your wrists!
I love the Zelda franchise though I haven’t played many of the titles since I didn’t always have a Nintendo console. My wife and I just recently bought ourselves a Nintendo Switch and Skyward Sword was my first Switch game that I bought. I just finished it and I gotta say I loved every bit of it. Everything from story and characters to the gameplay. This video nailed everything about Skyward Sword so you should definitely consider picking up the game if you haven’t played it and own a Switch.
Gotta say I hated this game on the Wii and never played it since. It was always my least favorite 3D Zelda Game. This was due to the awful forced motion controls and the outdated blurry visuals on the wii. Now I bought the remaster and played with buttons only. After completing it I have to say I loved the experience from start to finish, love the story, the characters, the dungeons. Without the things I hated getting in the way I really saw this game for what it was supposed to be. An excellent Zelda game. So glad I decided to buy it.
I’m fairly new to your videos and I have to say I’m really enjoying them. I really appreciate that you try to give every game an honest critique rather than only including your opinions. Also, I loved the shout out to TerminalMontage
It makes me so happy to see all the Skyward Sword love in the video and the comments! This game gets me invested and emotional even now, love it to pieces.
Skyward sword was unironically one of (if not) my favorite LoZ games with Majora's Mask, BotW, and Twilight Princess coming close in that order. All I can remember is that I would often daydream in class and dream at night about how I could beat a boss or get past a perplexing puzzle (for a kid). I can't wait to pick up its remake on the switch to relive it again.
Skyward Saord finally gives us the control options we always wanted, and is future proof as well. It can play on any modern system now even without motion controls, and even be played in handheld mode. All this while still retaining the motion control option. On top of just the general quality of life improvements and the things Skyward Sword was already good at, it’s nice to see Skyward Sword in such a good place now.
I'm a huge Zelda fan. My final project in College was about Zelda advertising, comparing OOT 3D and BOTW. This is just how much I loved and played those games. But I've never had a Wii or a Wii U, so Wind Waker, Skyward Sword and Twillight Princess are titles I've never experienced before. And I have to say... Even though I know the games, I know how the boss fights work, I know how the puzzles are put together. But STILL I've already put over 45h into Skyward Sword and sometimes it's so challenging that it becomes frustrating (I mean that in a good way). I've died multiple times into boss battles. Sometimes it took me a REALLY long time to figure out some puzzles or how to approach some battles more strategically, rather than just go full Spartan mode (that's usually how I play). Yes, the game could have been polished when it comes to looks. Yes, the motion controls suck. I've tried them, hated them. It's much easier to play with buttons. But the game comes close to perfection. Not my favorite Zelda, but for sure a great experience.
Admitting to just flailing your arms is the exact opposite of what you were supposed to do in the original release. You are supposed to be precise. I honestly believe people complaining about the accuracy of the motion controls are objectively wrong and it is because most of them did the same: flailing.
I agree. However, it took me 3/4ths of the game to actually get comfortable with the motion controls. It was then that I really respected some of the battles, especially Ghirahim. Since it took me so long to get to that point, I don't really blame the people that gave up on the game and hated the motion controls. Having Ghirahim as the boss of the first dungeon was a wildly inappropriate difficulty spike. By the end of my playthrough, I respected and enjoyed the Ghirahim fights, but my first time playing the first dungeon, almost made me quit the game. What I dislike about Skyward Sword is the Imprissoned fights (all of them, though the 2nd one is not as bad as the 1st and 3rd imo.), and the fact that the overworld areas are just a chore to go through and basically a dungeon before getting to the dungeon, but with no real reward.
@@Late_Night_Mega There are legitimate things to criticize and I agree with what you listed as being some of them. My main gripe is that this game was written off because people refused to acclimate themselves to how the game is supposed to be played which, in turn, made actual criticisms few and far between.
While this is definitely one of the best Zelda-Link relationships, I would argue Spirit Tracks does just as good, if not a better job of it. On the other hand, it's Spirit Tracks, so most people tend to forget it exists.
Dude I just noticed you’re up to almost 1.5 million subscribers 🤯😱😱 CONGRATS on the feat! Great vid as usual, love the new title. Haven’t been on in a little while.
I feel like the stick controls aren't necessarily faster. I mean, with motion controls, it was just as easy to attack super fast by just wildly swinging the controller around, or quickly flicking your wrist. in fact, I'd say that quickly attacking from multiple directions and performing spin attacks might just be a little easier with motion controls (especially the former, though I guess it's not very important). either way, the stick controls are great. I've always loved the game, played through the HD version with stick controls, probably loved it even more than I already did.
I always find it strange hearing people talking about the controls being inconsistent since when I was a kid I never had any issues with it. I rarely even needed to recalibrate the mote. All the difficulties I had were me being a dumb kid who hadn't played many combat games.
I had a few problems at first until i realized i couldn't swing the sword recklessly and win most times. I wonder if people had the same issue but just never calmed down and tried to use it like a sword.
When it comes to motion controls, people get too caught up in swinging everything around wildly with their entire bodies, when all you really need to do is just use your wrists. It works so much better using just your wrists
I guess it's just because people are so different, and motion controls just inherently will work for some and not others for reasons that are completely different depending on both the person and the game.
Though it's less person dependent in terms of luck and moreso just how people fall. You can aim to optimize your experience with any game, people just prefer to do as little of that as possible for some reason, even though it leads to most games being unenjoyable.
I got skyward sword with the golden Wii remote and the soundtrack. Though I enjoyed the game, I didn't have much of a desire to play through it a second time. With this HD re-release I find this game to be even better and I'm glad I picked it up again. I have already played through normal mode and I plan to play through hero mode later this year.
Skyward Sword is truly my favorite Zelda. There are flaws to be sure. Like EVERY Zelda. And the same amount too. Only a few bosses didn’t work. Only a few areas were a tad too much of a chore. But that’s IT. It’s strengths are WILDLY different from the others and even though I wanted more, seeing its biggest flaws put to bed makes me happy. If they combine strengths of this Zelda and BOTW, you’re looking at the perfect video game. Because they are perfect compliments. Go enjoy it guys. Seriously. I had no problems with the wii version and still am an active player of that version. Even if the item gathering and Fi were bothersome, they weren’t flat insulting like Navi pointing out arrows on the floor and taking away my ability to look around to do it. Even the item pick ups really gave me a hand in counting my upgrades for the inventory check. The switch version? Love it more. Totally worth it.
I've just finished my completionist journey with this game. I never played it in Wii, and wasn't a Zelda fan back when it originally came out. Because of this I never got exposed to much of the bad vibes around it. Keep in mind, I've only played the Zelda games on Switch, but this is currently my favorite one.
This is a remaster, not a remake at all. Remake is entirely different concept/project/effort. Remasters are almost always better than their originals, the whole point is to "upgrade" existing software.
It’s a solid game but this also reminded me how tiring it is revisiting the same areas 3-4 times in the main quest. Feel like this could be better with like 15 hours chopped off.
Wind Waker is Looney Tunes' Legend of Zelda, Twilight Princess is Tim Burton's Legend of Zelda (more surreal than realistic, IMO), Skyward Sword is Disney's Legend of Zelda (specifically something like Peter Pan), and Breath of the Wild is Studio Ghibli's Legend of Zelda.
I loved the music and graphics when skyward sword came out, what kept me from finishing the game was the controls. With the remaster I was finally able to experience the whole game.
Don’t get it
@@coudouliere Why?

Fun fact: there is a love letter for link on Zelda's desk confirming the romantic relationship between the duo

Oracle games: Link and Zelda interact with hearts above their heads(these 2 are most likely the same Link and zelda from ALTTP)
Links awakening: the same LInk from the oracle games, Link is shown to care and think about Zelda while on the island.
But you can literally date item check girl.
also, there's two cutscene themes for then zelda and link are together at the start of the game. the two themes are called romance, and romance in the air
I feel like it has to be reset more often because people are doing ridiculously big swings or movements which messes up the aiming
@@chriskoloski32 well it's because people often move their hand from the origin, the point at which they pressed the Y button. Even just slightly positioning the controller somewhere else can throw off aim, causing you to have to recalibrate, but it's really not a problem with how it's handled
It’s true the thrust on the Wii is a little unresponsive but the calibration was a lot cleaner on the Wii as it used the sensor bar to recalibrate the motion controls based on where your tv was
I have also seen that certain movements on switch being more cumbersome because it requires more precision than expected for it
@@shinyhero306 That's true. Both have their pros and cons.

A phrase also kind of true for Breath of the Wild, since it's the first time they made an open world Zelda, and has some issues of its own.
It kinda sad a great Zelda game is so easily dismissed. I loved it! The worst of Zelda is still amazing by most standards.

Glad to see another decent review of this game. I loved the original Skyward Sword. I had a lot of memories in my dorm room at college playing it on the Wii and had a fun time with the game. I did two full playthroughs back then and completed it. And I'm going to do the same to the HD version as well.
Glad to see this remade, because it really is one of the best stories in Zelda history
What I don't like about this is how they all go
"Who are you? Oh, prove that you are the Hero"
And then they go "Oh, Hero! Welcome back! Now prove that you are the Hero"
And then after all of that they go "Yeaaaah, you need to prove you are the Hero again. Go on."
I only played it once, maybe I don't remember accurately but that was my genuine experience with this game. I'm not picking it up again. Not when I have randomizers of much more fun games that actually respects the player.
I'm sad that this game killed off the left handed link which up to this point had been Links dominant hand. As a fellow left handed person it's just a bummer

@@zilvertron
What are you even doing when trying to play the game?
95% of the time when people complain about motion controls, it's because their technique is bad.
Just use your wrists!
Me too
@Craig Adams yeah, I can see an argument against its pacing and some of the fetch quests. But I think the HD version makes even those more tolerable
@Craig Adams I'm not a Nintendo fan, if that's what you mean. Neither an I a native English speaker, so whats your excuse?
Good thing this is not talking about Dark Alliance and shows how good it is(Lies). Glad we get a real look at Zelda.
It makes me so happy to see all the Skyward Sword love in the video and the comments! This game gets me invested and emotional even now, love it to pieces.
Hard to swallow pills:
TLOZ Skyward Sword character relationships are a Shonen high-school anime
Lol I was just thinking that the other day!
This guy gets it
that's why it's so good
Oh god…. I can’t unsee it now…
Skyward sword was unironically one of (if not) my favorite LoZ games with Majora's Mask, BotW, and Twilight Princess coming close in that order. All I can remember is that I would often daydream in class and dream at night about how I could beat a boss or get past a perplexing puzzle (for a kid). I can't wait to pick up its remake on the switch to relive it again.
I truthfully think Windwaker’s art style was more disputed than Skyward’s motion controls.
I still love this game. I know it can take time to adjust to precision over flailing but it’s still so fun. Bothcontrol styles feel good too.
A relationship like Girard and his non-conforming prononciations of Zelda names.
“Ghira-hi-m”
Skyward Saord finally gives us the control options we always wanted, and is future proof as well. It can play on any modern system now even without motion controls, and even be played in handheld mode. All this while still retaining the motion control option. On top of just the general quality of life improvements and the things Skyward Sword was already good at, it’s nice to see Skyward Sword in such a good place now.
I would love to see you take on the TALES OF SERIES.
@Zachary Erickson Which he gave a very enthusiastic... finish it.
BINGO
Why did I feel genuine emotion when you held up that gold wiimote and asked "remember this guy? Me too"
While this is definitely one of the best Zelda-Link relationships, I would argue Spirit Tracks does just as good, if not a better job of it.
No tracks that are instantly iconic?!?!
Instantly iconic?!?!?!
**groose theme plays in earrape**
…it took me 10 whole years to understand Demise’s name is literally just the word demise lol
Been a bit since I regularly watched the channel and going back to rewatch episodes I missed has been great.
Great video man!
When it comes to motion controls, people get too caught up in swinging everything around wildly with their entire bodies,
when all you really need to do is just use your wrists.
How wonder how much of Jirard's young audience got the "clippy" joke 😁
Not sure if this is my first time seeing it, but love the new intro. Especially love that Jirard doesn’t look depressed at the end of it.
IVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FINALLY
Glad to see this remaster covered. Even better, it sounds like it addresses every issue people generally had with the original.
I think this remake was actually better than the original game
Especially with button controls
Original game was a low bar
@@VulturePilot fair point I guess
60 dollars better?
This is a remaster, not a remake at all. Remake is entirely different concept/project/effort. Remasters are almost always better than their originals, the whole point is to "upgrade" existing software.
Jirard, your passion and enthusiasm is always much welcomed! another great episode in the books!
It’s a solid game but this also reminded me how tiring it is revisiting the same areas 3-4 times in the main quest. Feel like this could be better with like 15 hours chopped off.
Thank you guys for this awesome review. ☺️
I never finished this game, But this makes me want to give it another shot.
