Ah yes, but did you collect the tingle statues? I haven't played the HD version but I was told the tingle statues are still in the game even without the Gameboy connection function that the GameCube version had.
Honestly Wind Waker is absolutely delightful. If there is any Zelda game I would revisit over and over again it would be Wind Waker. The items, explorations, side quests, beautiful cell shaded art style, gorgeous music, fluid combat, clever puzzles and funny characters are infectious. The HD additions make this personally not just my favorite of the Zelda remasters but of any game updated. The streamlining saves time, makes everything smoother and obviously the graphics/performance updates make the presentation pop with so much life. Going from the skeptical reception of its direction when it was announced, I can honestly say Wind Waker is an essential play for any Zelda fan and I think it's world was for many years the most fleshed out Zelda has seen, even if all rewards aren't super necessary or the game doesn't have quite as many dungeons despite the many extra challenges found throughout the world. It's great to see Jirard has finally got around to it and remind me of my love for this charming adventure.
WindWaker is my ALL TIME favorite game. I grew up playing it and it was the only game i had for the first half of my childhood, so the nostalgia is there to the max! Nintendo please port it to the switch.
OhmyGod, the nostalgia of watching this game again is literally the closest thing to PURE HEROIN. Literally, this video should technically be a controlled substance.
Kinda weird growing up when I did because I didn’t really know Nintendo much as a kid and when I found out about Wind Waker I just thought it looked cool. It’s sorta really hard to believe people cared about just the graphics that much, but I guess it would be weird if the next Animal Crossing looked like Fallout or something drastic like that.
Redd Knight10 Graphical fidelity was a massive selling point of consoles since the 64 days. Video games were also barely getting out of the “just for kids” phase and everyone was starving for more “mature” content.

Years later, when it got an HD remake on the Wii U it instantly became my favorite LOZ game, and I hate the negative view I gave it before. Love this game! Glad you had a good time Jirard!

Honestly I did tear up a bit when you rated this Complete It. It was the first game I finished and it seemed like such an impossible yet cathartic experience to sit through the end credits of the game after taking two years from the age of 8 to 10 to play through the entire story. This admiration for the game coupled with the fact that I don't know the last time you ranked a game so high on The Completionist scale really hit me for some reason. Really glad you finally decided to play this one, thanks for your amazing content! Keep up the good work!
Me too. I didn't care what other people said about the graphics. I loved it. In fact, a friend of mine wanted me to sell to him my Ocarina of Time Master Quest that came with Wind Waker because he didn't want to buy Wind Waker because of the graphics. I refused to sell it.
This game's beautiful art style is what got me into Zelda in the first place. I would love to see this re-released on the switch as I never bought a Wii U.
I honestly don’t understand Nintendo sometimes. Like why not just get free money if you have the game 100% ready just port it? Same thing with twilight princess. Also ocarina and majora are both ready they just need to up the resolution. I’m sure it’s not that hard compared to how much money they’ll get for it
@@kyotow7388 They will probably end up porting all/some of those for the 35th Zelda anniversary much like with that Mario anniversary port they did recently.
This was the best Wind Waker review I've ever seen. Coming from someone who 100% the GC version and also the HD version multiple times each, you covered everything I could think of and wanted to see. You mentioned every point that I could think of. Bravo. Amazing. A real tribute to one of my favorite childhood games. I've recently just started replaying the HD one again. Just finished Makar's & Medli's dungeons, and got everything extra with the Hookshot & Mirror shield.
I hope no one has a problem with the sponsorship at the beginning of the video. I love this guys videos and he deserves to be able to make a real living off of these videos. I hope more people sponsor him so Jirard can continue making great videos.
I remember when I got the Wii U Wind Waker edition for my 13th birthday. I used to watch KevinJGaming’s zelda playthroughs, but had never heard of this game. They moved the Hero's Charm to the bottom of the Savage Labyrinth in the HD remake? Huh, arguably a better place to put it than where it was originally. Makes beating the trials feel more rewarding than the heart piece that was down there originally.
I liked the other way. Meaning you could get it WAY sooner allowing for it to be more useful. -__- One change I didn't like. Other than No Tingle Tuner. A huge fav. of my childhood with this game.
I can see why they did it; I've recently been playing the original. Haven't even dropped the last pearl off and I already have it. It's hugely easy to collect those pendants. Exploitably so. I wonder what the teacher gives for forty now?
@@wsly224 You can still get it rather "soon", just leave the earth temple half-way through, after you get the Mirror Shield and get the magic meter upgrade, and you can reach the Savage Labyrinth without the hookshot. Anyone who plays Wind Waker just to finish it can't possibly appreciate the charm of this game. The element of discovery, for even if you've already played the game, The Great Sea's layout is basic enough to not be instantly discernable, but simple enough to navigate once you've marked a location on the main map. It's not empty, and that isn't made apparent, which is why figuring out that a seemingly barren section can be explored further, is undoubtedly a reward in and of itself. Even if the main reward isn't satisfactory, the fact you've made a note of it on a chart, found a treasure, explored a miniature dungeon, is. It's about taking a journey along a familiar field, but following various paths leading to the unknown. The objectives aren't usually that difficult either, and they certainly demand very little barrier to entry. Everything is managable, while rarely posing tasks with truly grueling intensity, a problem that is apparent with many other 3D Zelda games. While I came pretty close with Twilight Princess, to this day, Wind Waker HD is the one and only Zelda game I actually finished to 100% completion. I truly love it to death, and I cannot praise it enough.
I love this game so much and it's one of my absolute favorites from my childhood! I still play it semi-regularly and I've had it since 2004! Probably been over a decade now though since I've played it all the way through from the beginning. There's so much worthy of awe in this game. From the beautiful graphics to the huge open overworld, to the story, to the charming characters. Tbh I'd really, really, really love it if somehow someday, we could get another full 3D adventure in the same exact style featuring Link, Tetra, and her pirates in a new adventure. Taking someplace I guess between Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks chronologically.

What a game to be gifted by the universe for your childhood. I think I was an early teen when this came out, and its somewhat tempting to say I would chronologically exchange Ocarina of Time for Windwaker. My experience of this game was absolutely joyous.
enjoy! it's always nice to watch his vids. little to no rants, little to no negativity. just passion and the love for video games distilled into a format that is very entertaining and enjoyable to watch.
I absolutely love this game, original and remake, both completed 100% multiple times. I was almost afraid it might not be your cup of tea, but as usual I find our tastes are similar, lol. Me and my friends have talked about doing this game for our Lets Play channel, and now I'm even more excited to do it. Also, I'll see you at PRGE this year, waiting another two hours in line just to say hi and have you sign something stupid for me. You, and all the guys working with you, are amazing. ❤
One of my favorite recording tactic to add comedy is the off-mic yell (aka - The Peanut Gallery). I absolutely LOVE Brett and Jirard's recent banter at points in the video.
Well over a decade over, I still find it amazing that the Windwaker's Link ends Ganon by shoving the Master Sword into his forehead and turning him to stone! Not a finisher you'd expect to see in a game that's as cute and colourful in aesthetics as this!
A part of you died doing that Blue Apron ad at the beginning, didn’t it? Oh shhh, shh it’s okay. You’re secret is safe with me. And it’s okay, your videos are awesome.
Jirard, matey! You pull off pirate hats almost scarily well. Super happy to see you had such a great time with Windwaker! ...I'm also now gonna have to greet you at the upcoming Retro Gaming Expo with "SCHMEEEY!"
This is easily my most favorite Zelda game ever. And I have played each release in the series. HD is definitely the better version, but the GameCube version already had everything that made the game great. The Tingle Tuner was fun with the GBA as second screen and was replaced in this version with the Tingle Bottle. The Bottle needs Miiverse though, so that will never work again. I was surprised Jirard did not play this before?
You forgot about the five Tingle Statues. In every major dungeon, there is an invisible chest that will only appear when a bomb explodes close enough to it. You were originally supposed to find them with hints that Tingle would give you via the Tingle Tuner, but that item was replaced with the Tingle Bottle here.
Yo, I’m definitely liking the presentation you did with Blue Apron ad. It was simple, and your cooking looks really presentable 😮. If I wasn’t a broke college student, I would have given it a shot. I’m definitely thinking about getting into it when I have the funds in the future tho!
When I put in Wind Waker HD I thought "Well this is how I remember the game, I don't see much of a difference" Plugged in my Wii, started OG Wind Waker and was blown away by the difference.
I bought blue apron because of you jirard. Thanks for introducing me to an awesome service and being a genuine guy. Always enjoyed watching your content. Your team is awesome too
WW is in my top3 of Zelda games. It's the first Zelda game I fully completed on my own and it holds a pretty special place in my heart. This game is beautiful and I love to come back to it. I complete every Zelda game I own about every 3 to 4 years and I'm always looking foward to WW. The characters are delightful, the plot starter is heartwrenching and the music is still embedded in my memory after all these years. It's a great game.
Ah man, I have such fond memories of this game. I remember playing the original iteration as a child. I loved the open sea and unique islands and personalities along with the quirky art-style. This game even helped increase my reading comprehension as a kid. I wish the HD version was released on the Switch.
I disagree with Jirard's opinion on the visuals. What I've noticed with remakes is that it's never just a graphical upgrade, the developers always frick with the lighting hardcore. I only played the HD version of Wind Waker, but seeing the contrast between the nighttime settings of the two games at 12:37 made me instantly regret not playing the original instead. The night sky was much more attractive/surreal in the original.
Well that was a change I wasn't expecting. The Gamecube version of Wind Waker gave you the Hero's Charm by giving the Teacher on Windfall Island a certain number of Joy Necklaces. The bottom of the Savage Labyrinth had a Piece of Heart. I don't think I'll ever play this version unless they launch it on the Switch, as I have no intention on buying a Wii U.
That my chemical romance bit took me back to late 8th grade, early to mid 9th and the summer between 8th and 9th.. I was a moody 8th grader, and thankfully snapped out of it before 9th grade started, as i discovered pot and i doubled down on my favorite game series (metal gear solid, zelda, legacy of goku, Tomba 1 and 2), so by the time i graduated in 2010, my moody ways were gone, though i still enjoyed my chemical romance and marilyn manson along with indie hits. Thank you. This video gave me a trip down memory lane with that 3 second bit of song along with game, which was the only other game i owned for GameCube other than metal gear solid twin snakes for ages!
I first got this game in summer 2014 with the Wii u bundle. Had an absolute blast playing it with a fresh coat of paint after having played the GC version a decade prior. The game has an amazing soundtrack, great art style, solid dungeons and bosses and the story and characters are well written. This is my favorite Zelda.

What a game to be gifted by the universe for your childhood. I think I was an early teen when this came out, and its somewhat tempting to say I would chronologically exchange Ocarina of Time for Windwaker. My experience of this game was absolutely joyous.
i honestly feel like it's underrated, i never see much convesation about it. it's my favorite game of all times and im so happy you enjoyed it man!
Wind Waker was my very first Zelda game, and as such will always hold a special place in my heart. To this day, it's still a delight to play. :)
The sailing theme actually brings tears to my eyes. This game is among my all time favorite Zeldas
Zelda video = new Sub. Great channel! Been on a binge since I discovered you earlier today.
enjoy! it's always nice to watch his vids. little to no rants, little to no negativity. just passion and the love for video games distilled into a format that is very entertaining and enjoyable to watch.

Shout-out to the shop keeper's sound byte at 11:43.
Never gets old for me. :)
got here within the first few minutes of the upload woooooo

I'm a simple man. I see a video on Windwaker, I click.
Well over a decade over, I still find it amazing that the Windwaker's Link ends Ganon by shoving the Master Sword into his forehead and turning him to stone! Not a finisher you'd expect to see in a game that's as cute and colourful in aesthetics as this!
I’ll join your pirate crew captain beardman!
A part of you died doing that Blue Apron ad at the beginning, didn’t it? Oh shhh, shh it’s okay. You’re secret is safe with me. And it’s okay, your videos are awesome.
I literally just yelled “YESSSSS” when he referenced muppet treasure island
One if my favorite games
I bought blue apron because of you jirard. Thanks for introducing me to an awesome service and being a genuine guy. Always enjoyed watching your content. Your team is awesome too
I loved using the Bow in first person. Felt like an FPS.
Man, I never get tired of your videos
I was one of the first few who loved Wind Waker before it was cool!
8:52 Hey, look, it's that microgame from WarioWare Gold! XD
Dude nice you got a good sponsor for this episode, Blue Apron is my jam.
Ive never played link to past until i bought the snes classic and man was i missing out
That's kinda sad, considering it was the first Zelda game I played. It came with my SNES
Ah man, I have such fond memories of this game. I remember playing the original iteration as a child. I loved the open sea and unique islands and personalities along with the quirky art-style. This game even helped increase my reading comprehension as a kid.
I wish the HD version was released on the Switch.
10/10 would join your crew
Man, I wish Twilight Princess came out first so Wind Waker got the recognition it deserved at release.
"Dragon Roost Island" is my favorite piece of video game music period.
This is probably my favorite game....im so glad you made this video!
Good job! Every healthy choice matters!
Saw you uploaded this and got sooo hype
It was my first Zelda game!🤗
Thats legitimately adorable😍😃
Good on you buddy.
Mine was Ocarina of time
Wind Waker is great, glad that you finally got around to it! Great episode! Also, hit me up when you start that pirate crew, I'm in.

Please complete DKC: Tropical Freeze
Well that was a change I wasn't expecting. The Gamecube version of Wind Waker gave you the Hero's Charm by giving the Teacher on Windfall Island a certain number of Joy Necklaces. The bottom of the Savage Labyrinth had a Piece of Heart.
I don't think I'll ever play this version unless they launch it on the Switch, as I have no intention on buying a Wii U.
Jirard, you didn't HD yourself; you 4-Ded yourself because I can smelllllll what you're cooking.
*IT'S ABOUT FKIN TIME*
great episode, been waiting for this one for a looong time. Still, worth it
I really love this game, it's my second favorite Zelda. And the art style is just beautiful!
He named him Sparrow😂😂😭😭
"YARR! Complete this game, matey!"

One thing: did you collect all the Tingle statues??
That's what I just thought.
For me it's essential to collect the Tingle Statues as well because it's part of the completion.
How have you never played this before?! Your Zelda episodes are always top tier.
