    Glad to see other folk exploring this way of doing stuff
    (Multiply was my favourite layer mixing style, untill i caught myself on noticing that my drawings were either too bright, as for a desired result, or muddy, curretly i am toyeing with "hard light" and procreate's "linear light" , it linda gives the art gray-ish look, (for which i got repeatedly bullied on art chats), but i am willing to live with it, because it still looks cool to me)

I personally enjoy doing the single layer and treating it like a traditional painting. I feel I can build up cool texture. I will say those even though this method is over complicated it’s perfect for making art where don’t have to commit to certain decisions shadow color, highlight color etc…. But there sometimes about doing actual painting and having to commit to your decision or paint over that makes the process feel more special compared to digital art

    I wouldn't recommend referencing action figures or 3d models unless you want the drawing to look like a 3d model or action figure. Action figures muscles dont squash, stretch, or twist like a real human and most 3d models you can easily find online dont do that either. Also 3d models are infinitely flexible and cant feel pain so just because you can pose a 3d model a certain way doesnt mean its natural for a human to do. If you wanna draw semi realistic people then reference real people.

    • @slurrpedpdf
      @slurrpedpdf  5 месяцев назад +7

      Ya those are good point. I especially for drawing people. Ya 3d model and action figure also tend to have a stiffer feel because you not capturing motion. I do agree a good def reference the real thing is most optimal. The main reason prefer at least the action figure is mainly I can get extreme angle without falling a friend over. I mean you could take pictures of yourself but trying to get right angle is a pain haha. Those are some great point!!! Im glad you pointed those out. Honestly squash and stretch didn’t even cross my mind yet that’s a really important thing to have reference for!

    • @vincentcabezas7147
      @vincentcabezas7147 5 месяцев назад +8

      When it comes to anatomy, yeah good point. But for posing specifically, action figures help a lot

    • @slurrpedpdf

      @@vincentcabezas7147 exactly nailed it right there! 👌

    • @battleframestudios8989
      @battleframestudios8989 5 месяцев назад

      @@vincentcabezas7147 Well, an action figures weight distribution is different than a person's, and their range of motion is different. When you reference a real person's pose, there's a higher chance it'll look natural because a human can actually do it. Also, for both 3d models and action figures, you still have to think of a whole new pose yourself. But if you look up references for real people, you get new ideas as you scroll through the images. Of course, if it's just a vanilla pose from an extreme angle, it can help to use an action figure, but I'd still say try to find a picture of a real person first.

    • @vanam_
      @vanam_ 5 месяцев назад +1

    • @slurrpedpdf
      @slurrpedpdf  5 месяцев назад

      I feel ya man!!! 💯Art should be more about expressing ourselves freely. I think because we are exposed to so much different art with social media it easy to get tunnel vision of “I want to draw like this art” or I want this”art style” I don’t think it’s necessarily harmful at first but it can easily skew your motivation and change the reason why you want to create!
