These are some photoshop tricks that really changed the way i draw. The main point of this video is to share how i use the lasso and multiply tool for my crisp shading. my most useful tip would be to use gradients masks and hue variation for you photoshop paintings.
#Stylized #Character #painting.
As someone who’s watched a million videos like this, this one is pure gold!
Thank you so much, I’m really it was helpful 🙏🙏🙏
Over the years I came up with almost the same method for coloring and shading that you describe here, but somehow your colours look way better.
Ayyy thank you my man! The hue variation and and paint over helped me a lot lol. I feel like just the multiply layer kind of of looks boring but you have so much control lol. I also use this color scheme way too much 😂 😂🙏.
My new favorite video! Exactly what I was looking for!
This is beaming information directly down the center of my brain, I've never had anything explained so well to me before. I'm literally so excited to adopt these techniques in my drawings
Ayyy thank you so much for the comment I’m glad it was useful!!!
Omg life savior! I've been playing around with painting on Procreate and it's been such a struggle. This was sooooooooo helpful!
Haha ya man learning digitall art can be such a learning curve. Yay that makes me happy I wish you luck on your procreate endeavors!!!
This was actually so informative and your style is gorgeous, I love all your tips! Thank you for putting this out there!
Ya of course!!! Ty so much for the support!!!
I love dense tutorials like this! Soo much quality information and specific techniques!!
I’m so glad thank you my man!!!
JEEZ! Such a good video! Fantastic Production! Fantastic Delivery! Fantastic ART! Kept me enguaged the entire time. Can't wait to see more! You are well on your way. Outstanding.
Ayyy thank you so much my dude!!! Im def gonna do more art tutorials. I wana start doing more fundamentals stuff I need to touch up on them again. It’s one thing to know it but it whole different to know it enough to explain clearly haha!!! Thank you for the support my man 🙏🙏🙏
if you use the poligon-lasso tool and press/hold "option" you can switch to the lasso tool within using the poligon-lasso tool. Was a gamechanger for me!
Great video btw!
Ohhh shi that’s gonna be a game changer!!! Thank you that’s gonna be so useful!!!
I was honestly not expecting how good this video turned out to be. Usually, these types of level up my art vids are so beginner that I don't learn anything at all, majorly appreciated! Some of these tips were things I said I'd try out and immediately forgot about lmao. +1 sub for sure, keep up the good work bro
Note: your art is so sick
Ayyy thank you so much! I’m really glad the video was helpful. There is so many ways to do art so sometimes it hard to find universal tip but these were the ones the I found helpful lol. Haha that’s happen to me so much. I’d watch a tutorial video and be like I got to try it out then just forget about everything that I watched lol
Your art and character design is amazing. I love how stylized it is. Keep up the great work!
Ayyy thank you my man!!! That means a lot!!! Haha I’ve avoiding fundamentals for so long. I did ended up developing a style without a lot of basic knowledge (it had its charm but still had a lot to be desired) but once I learned most the art rules and combined the two my art started to come together lol.
finally an art youtuber with an interesting and original artstyle! I strive for something similar in my art, so this was very inspiring! And I'm honestly getting sick of the anime and semi-realism already so your channel is a gem. Cool art and nice tips, as well as video quality, that's a sub from me for sure!
Ayy thank you so much man. Haha I suck so much a semi-realism but I do know how to make things stylized lol. Thank you for the support it really means a lot 🙏🙏🙏
This is a great video!
Well done
Thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏
super cool loveee the style, also been a fan of artem for a while was hyped to see them mentioned! keep at it :)
Ayyy thank you man. Dude Artem has some crazy good work. I use to look at stuff for inspiration before drawing but I have to stop myself or else i will end up copying rather then taking inspiration lol.
Thanks for the tips!
Ty of course!!!
good tips, good presentation, cool art style. Thanks for this man!
Ayy thank you so much!!!
Finally a RUclips artist that doesn't draw pretty anime girls!
Jokes aside, I love your style. Your inspirations are very clear but you don't just copy them, you made something unique.
Lmao your comment now makes me want to do a “how to draw pretty anime girls tutorial” 😂😂😂 jkjk. Thank you so much man I hella appreciate the support! It means a lot. It definitely took a lot of copying first before I was able to make it my own haha. I think I straight up did like 10 different drawing of Artemslop that I copied before I really understood how to take inspiration with out directly copying lol
@@slurrpedpdf 😂 anime girls in ur style....
Much Love
❤️❤️❤️
Awesome design, tips and video editing
Ayy thank you so much🙏🙏🙏 your support means a lot!
Thank you for the tutorial. Pretty neat even for a seasoned professional :)
Ayyy thank you to much my man!!! 🙏
cmon maaaan! Awesome work!
Ayyy Tyty 🙏
underrated
Ty my man!!!
this was amazing !
Ayy thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏
Dude you're offering this information for FREE??? Instant sub🤧gonna reference this vid in the future when I learn coloring again! Great vid🔥🔥🔥
Hell ya thanks you for the support!!! Haha for the longest time coloring always messed up my drawings so I’m glad this helped haha.
Slay i do a couple of these ❤
Tyty! Hell ya those blend modes are hella use can’t believe I ignored them for like 3 years lol
I am studying realistic artstyle, using almost the same thniques that you have!:D
Glad to see other folk exploring this way of doing stuff
(Multiply was my favourite layer mixing style, untill i caught myself on noticing that my drawings were either too bright, as for a desired result, or muddy, curretly i am toyeing with "hard light" and procreate's "linear light" , it linda gives the art gray-ish look, (for which i got repeatedly bullied on art chats), but i am willing to live with it, because it still looks cool to me)
Thank you my dude!!! I usually do soft light but hard light definitely comes in handy! Whenever I use hard light I have to fight the urge to time light EVERTHING haha. Liner light interesting I need to toy around with it more. I got some cool effects but it’s one of those thing where hard to predict lol. Also screw those hater 😂😂😂
Your art looks amazing! Thansk for the tips :D i hope ill get better
Thank you! Just stick with it you will def improve!!! For me learning how to draw basic 3d shapes like spears and cube help me out a lot! I know it seems like basic stuff but i tend to use those to build out objects
One of ur best videos .... great work bro .. keep them coming...idk y i can't figure out the polygon laso, air brush combo .... when I do it I don't like it. Wen others do it i think it looks awesome
Ayy thank you so much!!! I’ll probably make a more in-depth video with the laso technique!!! It’s definitely tricky at first. A lot of the time I have to go back with the erase tool to push them back. I usually have to do an overpaint over that layer to rough it up or else it looks too smooth haha
looks great here. one of my favorite art works of yours for real.@@slurrpedpdf
Nice vid bro ❤️
Your grinding with the videos you are putting out....
Thank you haha. Def grinding out here lol. I’m trying to spend more time on them now that I got a good library
@@slurrpedpdfniceee well i taught you were working on stuff as i didn't see you online that much these days on discord
edge control? i love edging!
💀💀💀 😂😂😂 nasty lmao
@@slurrpedpdf haha fr though great video. Love the abstract background btw, trying to get better at it myself!
Ooouu I needs one of those sticky bones thangs 😮
They are pretty I used mine way more than I thought! They do run around 77 but I think it was worth is. They even got like magnetic feet with a good base plate
@@slurrpedpdf 77 cash is kinda wild. I’m going Temu for that 😆🤣
@@adhdeity dude I know it definitely wild the only reason I have mine was cause it was a gift. Let me know if you find a cheaper alternative on temu that would be clutch!!!
suscribed
❤️❤️❤️🙏 thank you!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
❤️❤️❤️
Ohh damnn! I love your artstyle is amazing!
But damn, definitly not for me as an artist haha. I come from traditional art background, so if I have to many layers i get consufed and overwhelmed. So I'm trying to merge them as often as possilbe. Oh I made a mistake? gotta paint it over, it will propably look better anyway
Tho I love seeing diffrent artist workflow, and apriciate the advices not related to the graphic program!
Haha thank you man! Hell ya! That’s good to hear. I feel ya man. The layer do get confusing and I don’t name them half the time 😂😂😂. I personally enjoy doing the single layer and treating it like a traditional painting. I feel I can build up cool texture. I will say those even though this method is over complicated it’s perfect for making art where don’t have to commit to certain decisions shadow color, highlight color etc…. But there sometimes about doing actual painting and having to commit to your decision or paint over that makes the process feel more special compared to digital art
Bro which brushes do you use??!!!!!!!! That was incredible!!! Loved it!! I am a digital artist as well...
jingsketch.gumroad.com/l/JingsketchComplete
cubebrush.co/mb/products/m2ri4q/starter-brush-pack-2023
I think I use mar brunnets liner brush and then Jingsketch’s sharp render brush. Those are like the main two I use
It looks like the Spider-Man animation
Haha thank you!!! I think the half tone’s definitely pushes it to the spiderverse style lol
0:52 Where did you get this drawing mannequin? 🤩
They are called sticky bones I got the online. They are pretty cool I do enjoy using them but they are a little pricey. $77
@@slurrpedpdf Nice I found them😁. I am at the beginning of my Art Journey. But later in time I will get one, they are super cool. Thanks!!
Every time I looked into a sticky bone figure, it had horrible reviews on amazon
I like it for what it is….. is it worth $77 well that’s a different story haha. But it’s held up so far and I use it enough. Honestly it’s the magnetic feet and base plate that been nice. I don’t think it is a necessity to have but it can be nice at times. I’d give it a 6/10 like it nice to have but I don’t think I’d pay full price after owning it
@slurrpedpdf bro I've been trying to find a good one for some time! I think the ones on Amazon are 3D printed completely, so they break easily. Where did you get yours?
@@Freewritersdungeon www.stickybones.com/collections/featured-products
@@Freewritersdungeon i bought mine from the main site. I havent checked out the amazon one. that would be funny if amazon ones were bootlegged lol
where did you get the action figure???

They are like around $77 but they a pretty good at posing and the have magnetic feet. It’s definitely feel like more of a luxury then necessity but I used it a lot lol
@@slurrpedpdf thanks
do you take commisions?
I do take commissions!!! If you have instagram you can dm me! Or send me an email what ever easier for you
in your title, move the 's' from the word "paintings" and put it after the word "trick".
That’s embarrassing haha thank you for that catch 😂😂😂 ya I never was good at grammar or spelling hence why i became an artist lol
I wouldn't recommend referencing action figures or 3d models unless you want the drawing to look like a 3d model or action figure. Action figures muscles dont squash, stretch, or twist like a real human and most 3d models you can easily find online dont do that either. Also 3d models are infinitely flexible and cant feel pain so just because you can pose a 3d model a certain way doesnt mean its natural for a human to do. If you wanna draw semi realistic people then reference real people.
Ya those are good point. I especially for drawing people. Ya 3d model and action figure also tend to have a stiffer feel because you not capturing motion. I do agree a good def reference the real thing is most optimal. The main reason prefer at least the action figure is mainly I can get extreme angle without falling a friend over. I mean you could take pictures of yourself but trying to get right angle is a pain haha. Those are some great point!!! Im glad you pointed those out. Honestly squash and stretch didn’t even cross my mind yet that’s a really important thing to have reference for!
When it comes to anatomy, yeah good point. But for posing specifically, action figures help a lot
@@vincentcabezas7147 exactly nailed it right there! 👌
@@vincentcabezas7147 Well, an action figures weight distribution is different than a person's, and their range of motion is different. When you reference a real person's pose, there's a higher chance it'll look natural because a human can actually do it. Also, for both 3d models and action figures, you still have to think of a whole new pose yourself. But if you look up references for real people, you get new ideas as you scroll through the images. Of course, if it's just a vanilla pose from an extreme angle, it can help to use an action figure, but I'd still say try to find a picture of a real person first.
@@battleframestudios8989 well you are correct but I think for an advanced artist he will be skilled enough to get that feeling of motion it's just a thing you get from a lot of practice well yea for a beginner this will help..
Well this is my opinion but I think that as a beginner ur not trying to get the feel of the drawing but you are trying to get the form correct and learn some basic stuff (well i might be wrong here cuz people have different opinions).
Im sick of all these art labeling , technique obssesion in art nowdays ...all this sht shoudnt matter anyomre after the emerge of AI ..we should focus more on originality and expressing ourself freely
I feel ya man!!! 💯Art should be more about expressing ourselves freely. I think because we are exposed to so much different art with social media it easy to get tunnel vision of “I want to draw like this art” or I want this”art style” I don’t think it’s necessarily harmful at first but it can easily skew your motivation and change the reason why you want to create! Once you get that tunnel vision it take work to get out of it. But I definitely understand where you are coming from
@@slurrpedpdf Exactly and i had my share of self learning art but its when i filly liberate myself from all this mind wrecking obsession with art rules and techniques i make the most surreal and original art !
sorry if i was a lil harsh too much pressure bro
@@thunderlips1211 hell ya bro I love to hear that!!! I started out with doing a bunch of abstract and surreal work and love doing it. I try to not lose the freedom of abstract doodle cause that what started me on this art journey. You all good my man!🙏🙏🙏 your comment was a great reminder of what actually matters is was going down a rabbit hole of technical and “rule” but it helped keep me grounded haha. Sooo thank you actually 🤟
@@slurrpedpdf Thanx man i really appreciate it , i took like 4 years break from art but now im working on a graphic novel but as a 34 introverted guy im finding it hard to spread my art and get recognition though i make good and original art .
Also i might not be the best illustrator but i have many great original ideas and character designs that makes me always afraid of befriending other artist so they wont steal my ideas *it happened before* specially when they have much more recognition than me
