This just came up on my youtube recommended - I'm not an artist or into drawing or painting in any way, but wow. You really have a knack for explaining complex things in a simple way. I never understood how people know how to do shadows in art or blend things or when to put lines (i DO do art, but collageing, video editing... not this medium. i tried and failed) but you break it down in a way that makes it easy to understand and that it's attainable. You've earned yourself a new fan today and I look forward to bingeing your old work and to seeing what you do next.
On the readability study at 6:47 The Rim light also tells the viewer about the emotions of the characters. Vi (Left) has a rim light that contrasts her shadows. It makes her pop. She is in the scene deliberately and attention is being put on her. Meanwhile Jinx also has a rim light, but it is put on the light side of her, while the shadowy side has values similar to the background. It signals that she wants to hide, is closed off and wishes to blend into the scene.

Honestly this video us so useful it even tells us soo much about storytelling. If you replace light and dark with good and evil you can clearly tell how its a visual aid for a greater purpose.
This is an amazing video and now I might just have to get blender, although I'm sure using 3d assets from clip paint studio is also somewhat effective. I do want to say I hate the concept of "cheating" in art. For me, taking advantage of the tool sets given to you doesn't make you a "cheater". They are just tools, no matter how many references, 3d models, or etc you have, it won't turn out well if you don't have the fundamentals down. We have the technology, why not use it? Maybe it's more impressive if you don't need these tools, but I'd rather use these tools and have something more accurate while being more time efficient than trying to do it alone. Because the only reason I'd figure you'd do it without a tool set is either: a) you went so long without it that you feel more efficient without it or b) you hold some artificial pride and think that using tools makes you "less of an artist". Which it absolutely doesn't and I genuinely don't think that's the perspective many people in those fields feel either. So please, don't feel discouraged to use tools that could honestly improve not only your work, but your skill too.
Thank you for this amazing video! Accessible and articulate, so even a beginner digital painter like me can understand and feel inspired by it. Really excited to try some studies now.

This is not a painting tutorial, is an ad!!, an ad for blender!!! Thanks for the blender tutorial really helpful, keep up the good work!
THANKS for the honesty, simplicity and niceness...and art.
bro ive been trying to learn blender for like 3+ years and this unlocked a lot of stuff in my brain. basic functions i should have understood but didnt
Honestly this video us so useful it even tells us soo much about storytelling. If you replace light and dark with good and evil you can clearly tell how its a visual aid for a greater purpose.
This is why I recommend your channel to all my artist friends
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO MAKE THIS AND THANK GOD IT WAS YOU
This is an amazing video and now I might just have to get blender, although I'm sure using 3d assets from clip paint studio is also somewhat effective.
OMG THIS STUDY IS JUST WOW, WHERE IS YOUR MILLION OF FOLLOWERS? YOU DESERVE IT MAN. PLUS YOUR VOICE IS SENSATIONAL I REALLY DO LOVE YOUR CONFIDENCE 😍✨
I had given up hope of finding an Artist's Guide to Blender of sorts, and I didn't expect to find it in this video, but lo and behold! Thank you for the brilliant tutorial, as always!
I just clicked this for fun and intrigued with the style but Blender was a surprise there! It's not a shame to do 3D if you cant make it on 2D. besides, that's what technology is for, to make your work easier. I'm gonna learn this one when I get my new PC~ Thank you Marco!
easily the best art techer on youtube
HE SAID IT WAS COMING AND IT'S HERE! Early Christmas present.
I know nothing about art, but I love Arcane. This video was pretty awesome and quite fascinating.

That's an amazing drawing. I'm a new to the channel here and I was not expecting a blender tutorial thrown in there, but this made me want to try it.

Me who knows nothing about art:
“YESSSS FINALLY AN ARCANE ART HOW TO VIDEO!”
I finally watched Arcane so I'm also watching this video. Thank God you were doing this on a ConceptD laptop, because Acer made it so hard to find reviews and artist usage of this laptop.
What a banger of a breakdown vid~! I have been thinking about using blender for a lot of the backgrounds in the graphic novels my wife and I are planning, and now having seen you break the process apart like that, I'm sold~!
