You are speaking the truth. I went to Panama and the Police were so nice when we asked for directions. I felt like I wanted to be near them. I felt so comfortable with them . The whole atmosphere in Panama is so peaceful,calm and safe. I love America,but when I returned to America I immediately felt the stress and I knew I wasn’t in Panama anymore and be on guard. I would rather live in Panama regardless of their little issues. God keep the hoodlums away from Panama. Panama is like a newborn innocent baby compared to other countries. I would move tomorrow if possible.

Hey Robert, why isn't it possible? Well, maybe not "tomorrow" but I challenge you to pick a move date, choose a realistic budget, and work backwards to make it happen. If you have family obligations, find a way to handle those from abroad. We should NOT have to live in a country that is not serving us, that creates more stress in our lives because of the systems put in place to do just that.

Hello Halisi and Ric, Many people are frustrated and feel stuck in a hard situation in the U.S. as the political climate intensifies. I am a Gen X, black woman, I don't recall a period in my life where I wasn't fighting for fair and equal rights or protesting for justice. I'm TIRED. I just want to live a quiet life of peace abroad. I've received backlash from some family members and acquaintances for jumping ship. I'm just curious if other expats have experienced this same backlash.

Don't listen to them- you do you! REsearch and get ready, and go- know what you need, city, suburbs, etc. nightlife or culture?? It's all free info on YT.
Everyone is not going to understand, some of our children didn't and my mother certainly did not. But as we've heard, you must put your own mask on first 😷 - save yourself so that you can help save others. Some will come around and some never will. You need to be okay with that.

@@YogaBlissDance Thanks for the kind words. I'm fully committed to living abroad permanently. I don't feel bad for my decision, it's more annoyance with the people that are not supportive and happy for me. I almost don't even want to keep the lines of communication open any longer with certain people because I get tired of hearing them say things like what about your mom? Dad? You're giving up on your country. I just want a simpler way of life with less stress and more joy.
Halisi and Ric: There were 2 elections in France in the past week. The Alt-right finished 1st in the initial round last week. The center and left won the majority today. Macron is a centrist but no single party won outright but center and left will unite to block initiatives from far right. Lastly, the left over-performed which is what you saw. Ric was referencing the first round from last week.

Hello Halisi & Ric, no worries Panama has about 100 microclimates as the weather varies widely from mountain areas to the beaches.
There is about 1800 miles of coastline on both sides of the mainland and over 1400 islands & cays. So the choice varies.

I was just talking about that with Ric 😆 - No Avon here, but another viewer suggested spraying mosquito repellent into the lotion right before applying...😉 that's why I love this community - the brilliance and graciousness is overwhelming.🥰
I live in Louisiana. Mosquitoes love ❤️ my O+ blood 🩸 here lol😂. I was so concerned about the mosquitoes and malaria when we went to Rwanda and Kenya back in April that I got pills before we left. Surprise I didn’t get but not one dang time the entire 2 weeks we were there. What I did get was travelers diarrhea 😂.
Vanilla extract works and is a natural repellent.

We vacationed in the Algave area of Portugal (Albugeria) about10 years ago. Beautiful country on the Mediterranean. One thing I remember the tour guide pointing out buildings that were in need of repairs but according to their building code you cannot do major remodeling to buildings. If it reaches a point where it is not safe to dwell there you have to move out. That was a drawback for me. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip and would like to return someday. We also went to Madrid, Spain and enjoyed that as well. A lot of our history is there.

Halisi re mosquitoes: when you’re applying lotion after shower, spray a bit of repellent and mix in hands with lotion. I do this everyday as a Miami native and twice Milan resident.

very good information. We are seriously thinking about moving from USA within a five-year plan.
I think I might like temp vista's and explore 2 or 3 countries for a year or so before I decide perm residence.
Most countries do not give permanent residency right away. As a matter of fact, Mexico is the only one that we've studied that does...for US citizens at least. Otherwise, you will be granted temporary residency (1-3 years) with an option to renew for another few years and THEN you may apply for permanent.

I've subscribed. I've decided some YEARS ago to not retire in the USA. Unfortunately, beyond my control, I'm suddenly pulled from the workforce due to an exacerbation of a disability that came on suddenly. I guess that has exacerbated my plans as well. I have a few things to do, but I've decided to focus on the African continent. I want to visit a few of them to decide which one, but it is my focus. I really appreciate this information.

He's spanked me, rightfully so, for making dumb decisions, but I'm the one who was in the wrong, but as far as truly being let down, no, I can't say that. Hurt because he's taken those I've loved with him, of course, but that something beyond my comprehension and not something I can hate on Him about. He gives me what I need, even when I don't ask for it and even before I know I need it. I love TMH with all that's in me l, even when it looks to others that I don't. If I'm meant to be sacrificed in his name during the Christian tribulation, I'll do it praising him and with a smile because I already know "finally, I'm finally going home to rest!" ☺️

I'm new to your channel. Do you have friends who live in Africa. Ghana rolled out the red carpet for African Americans. I was interested in Nigeria. I guess my question is, why aren't we flocking to the motherland, that'sour heritage? I'm hesitating because of health issues. My income is perm disability. I'm worried about hospitalization if I experience a decline.
We have many friends that live in South Africa and another couple that we know that might move to Kigali, Rwanda. I'm too spoiled for most developing countries. I don't like to haggle nor do I want to be looked at as a "walking wallet". In Lisbon Portugal we blend in. 🤷🏽♀️

UPDATE July 2024 -Many of the Mexican consulates are cracking down and requiring U.S. Citizens to go to a consulate in their home state or one that is geographically closer to where they reside. I think they are trying to prevent popular consulates from being flooded with applicants. People should check with the consulate they want to go to in order to see if they will grant them an appointment.

Regarding your health, we want you to change your mindset about that. We want you to start envisioning yourself as no longer suffering from health issues. We want you to STOP claiming them as "yours". ("Girl, you know my arthritis is kicking up today" as oppose to "The arthritis is flaring up today")
Before we moved, the stress of the US had my hair falling out and I couldn't keep weight on. (of course now I have too much weight 😆) I would get in the tub and envision us fully retired living in another country. I would envision and try and capture the feeling that I would get when we received the email that our VISA had been approved...and here we are.
What age were your sons when you left? How do they feel about your move? My oldest son is 19, and in college, and I feel guilty about leaving him.
Our youngest was 28 years old, but had I figured this stuff out when he was 19 - I would've gone then. Our leaving has forced him to FINALLY grow up!

Have you been to Portugal? This is a Catholic country but at the same time VERY liberal. For instance same-gender marriages are legal here. We have friends here who attend church on a regular basis. We believe in God and consider ourselves Christian - but the state of the modern Christian church is a joke - most are so hypocritical that they really preach hate instead of love.
That said, we know folks who go to a number of English-speaking services.

Hey Cappy - it is BETTER and more affordable in most other countries...including Mexico! You MUST keep residency in the US unless you denounce citizenship. We will not denounce because we don't want to ask for permission to visit family.
We have 🇵🇹 health insurance and maintain medicare and Obama-care for when we visit the US.

I NEVER felt like America was my home. And how could I? My father was accused of being a communist and the govt took away his security pass and he could no longer work in the profession that he got his degree in. The US govt allowed our house to be bugged and our phones tapped. My dad was harassed by the police and dragged to jail because they could. The man who sanctioned all of that still has the FBI headquarters named after him. 😳

Look through our video and you will find just that. But in the meantime, I'm assuming you have social security. You can make money online without all of that 2-3 job nonsense. Lower your expenses as much as possible. Ric and I cut out cable, eating out on a regular, we got rid of subscriptions, we got cheaper carriers for our cell phones, etc. We downsized from a house to an apartment and rented out our house.
