Came here from my question about a maille coif under a helmet and now it makes lot more sense! The maille parts were more split up to the standart hauberk when wearing a "closed" helmet!
I wanna get my first own armour and I wanna settle on a more early medieval style or smt that one would see on pictures of Richard I. A full mail hauberk and just an open bakinet helmet with mail attached to it.
Sadly I cannot find one store that would sell something like that :')
Still great video and reall, helps to understand the details of medieval stuff! Cheers 🎉

Aah I'm glad the video helped you out!! Please be aware that most picture you find on the web are fiction and has barely anything to do with historical correct armour. If you tell me the year/century you want to reenact I'm happy to help you! You can always send me an pm on Instagram! (Thats a better way of communication than here on youtube).

I don't think I knew what the 'decorative' part on the chest really was. It makes perfect sense that they wouldn't waste time and material on a functional set of armor.

Ah, the more you know huh! Every armour part of the harness has its own purpuse. 😊 Nowadays we of course do not fight for real to actualy kill our opponent. But back in the days a harness has to perfect fitted, perfect made and it really has to be a second skin around the body. Afterall it was a matter of dying on the field or seeing a other day.
